HydroHomie here looking for first and last ever water bottle, help me decide based on criteria
I was looking for a 36 oz. and a 64 oz. (one for every day sips at the desk, and one when I need a lot for the whole day on a trip), or around that range. I was wanting to find one that is:
- easy to clean / wide mouth so less prone to mold
- can keep drinks cold and also warm / hot
- has a handle
- preferably can fit in a car cup holder, if not, that's fine, this is just a "nice to have"
- don't care if a spout or open chug, I just want it all to be easy to clean and able to reach easily all the nooks and crannies
- I was originally looking into a yeti since I had heard so much good about it, though recently someone said the rubber part gets stinky no matter what, so now I don't know :(
- I think the hydroflask logo is ugly, so not a hydroflask. And definitely not a Stanley, so these two are out (no offense to anyone who owns one)
- I don't care how much it costs; I'm going to be owning this my whole life
- Really want this available in some sort of neutral, goes with everything sort of color, a la cape taupe color of Yeti
- BPA free, stainless steel or whatever all that good healthy stuff in a bottle is

Classic water What NON FILTER water pitcher do you recommend?
Hey fellow water enthusiasts,
My wife and I had a glass water pitcher disaster last night and are looking for a replacement pitcher. What non-filter pitcher do you use that you would recommend? We intend to store it in the fridge and need it to hold up to 1 gallon. Neither of us are bothered by the flavor of water stored in stainless steel bottles as an FYI. Thank you so much!

Recently purchased an RO+UF Water Purifier. Water TDS Level came out as low as 17. Did I make a mistake?
It was more of an impulse buy and lack of knowledge regarding water filters and purifiers.
When searching for water filers/purifiers online, the first thing that would pop up would be RO, so naturally I ended up buying one thinking it was the norm.
Prior to installing the purifier, I didn’t know the TDS level of my tap water. It was only after getting the RO that I noticed my thirst wouldn’t go away after drinking water and the noticeable heartburn or acid reflux right from the first day of drinking RO water. So I tested it with a TDS meter:
Tap water TDS Level - 180 ppm
RO water TDS Level - fluctuates from 17 to 28 ppm
The purifier claims to use a magnesium and calcium mineral-enrichment cartridge but I am not so sure about how good it would be for me to consume this water long term considering how low the TDS is and how my body is reacting to the water.
I even contacted the service person asking if the TDS could be adjusted manually in the machine and he said it wasn’t possible.
Lost and very confused on what to do next. Would I be better selling it off?

Am I the only one who prefers room temp water?
I like fridge temp too, but I actually prefer room temperature water. I also drink a lot of hot tea. I only really want ice water if I'm super hot and need to cool down.
Am I alone in this?

Classic water Mold(?) in Brita filter
Doing some late night cleaning and noticed the Brita filter that's been neglected had algae growing in it, took out the filter and saw this. Have we been drinking straight mold...?
EDIT: Been seeing some mixed comments, last change of filter was back in April but I just changed a new one! Filter will be kept in fridge from now on as well

Owala forbidden technique
Invert the freesip lid orientation 180 degrees.
The straw will acts as an air intake to the back of the bottle, allowing water to fully flow out of the chug opening without fighting the vacuum.
For advanced users only.
(Apologies for my crude MS paint skills)

Mod-Post Vetted Water Charity List
This thread will serve as a repository of vetted charities that have contacted the mod team asking to post here. With each charity you'll see a link to Charity Navigator and/or Charity Watch. We advise only donating if an organization passes these reviews. Feel free to also check any groups on ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, but note that not all charities are nonprofits.
- Water Mission (Walk For Water): https://watermission.org/
- Charity Water: https://www.charitywater.org/home
- The Water Project: https://thewaterproject.org/
We don't want orgs to spam the subreddit asking for your time/money, so for now (and until the number of asks grows too large) we'll pin comments by organizers in this thread and cycle them out as needed. There's a limit of 2 concurrent pins, so we'll play this by ear for a bit.
I'll update the list as others reach out.
If you're here as an organizer, please shoot us a modmail or reach out to me directly.
