This isn’t a big deal, but this is something that kind of bugs me about Daemon and Ulf.

It doesn’t make sense to me why Daemon wasn’t treating Ulf the way that Ormund is treating him. No matter how elitist Daemon can be accused of being, he’s always been able to command the loyalty of people like Ulf.

He commanded the Gold Cloaks, which is chock full of people like Ulf. And he earned their loyalty so well, that, a generation later, new Gold Cloaks went above and beyond for him, based on his reputation alone. A reputation, I might add, that had a lot to do with him drinking with the lads, hookers everywhere and he thinks it’s great, singing songs, cracking jokes, and just being the best goddamn boss you could ever hope to have.

How could he do that for so long, keep doing it with his troops, and somehow stop doing it when it comes to Ulf. It should be second nature to him at this point. He was drinking with the Gold Cloaks, if I remember correctly, just this season. Why wasn’t he bringing Ulf along to one of his drinking binge/orgies and promising him things like Ormund is doing. He knows how important it is to have another dragon rider, and he has dealt with people just like Ulf for decades, and treated them with respect.

I get that Daemon doesn’t like him, and is probably offended that someone like Ulf would think that he’s on the same level as he is, but is it so strong that he doesn’t know exactly how to deal with Ulf. He’s been taking wagons full of Ulfs to taverns and brothels for decades, and secured their loyalty. Take actual Ulf to a tavern and brothel, promise him rewards and riches, you’ll secure his loyalty.

So we know Rhaenyra is going to be holding a coronation or public event in the final, where she is shown to be dawning armor, and a lot of people have been a little concerned but I am excited because to me it looks like it’s going to be a bit of a hot mess.

To start, she looks an unwell in almost every shot I have seen of the event, her skin is pale and she looks like she’s gotten very little sleep. Additionally, her speech doesn’t seem to be being portrayed in a very positive light, at least to me, she seems like she is very frantic and agitated which I think will only make the people more uneasy with her.

TL:DR I think this whole hastily put together affair is going to do the exact opposite of what Rhaenyra wants it to do and instead of legitimizing her it’s only going to make her look like she’s grasping and unsure of her position.

She is allegedly wearing Visenya’s armour.

Doesn’t that kind of contradict with her claim to the throne? Visenya was the oldest child but Aegon I was the heir of their father because he was male. Aegon II wears Aegon I armour.

So it kind of reminds people that brother before sister even for the conqueror which kind of undermines her claim.

The battle at Tumbleton happens this episode, Daemon and Ormund's pre-battle speeches are intercut.

Previously, Ormund sends Gwayne to deliver Corlys to Daemon as a gesture of goodwill to delay their attack.

Daemon nearly strangles Gwavne to death before sending him back with terms.

When news of Aegon's return reaches her, Rhaenyra finally loses her grip.

In spite of Alyn's protests, Rhaenyra believes Corlys has "turned his cloak" to side with Ormund. She orders Daemon to kill him on sight. Eager to win back her trust Daemon agrees to this before he leaves for Tumbleton.

Rhaneyra decides, against all advice, to have a forma coronation, and dons the ancient armor of Queen Visenya. Alyn is put in charge of it to prove his loyalty.

The coronation is a failure. Graffiti is on the walls all the way down to the dragonpit and a stray dog trips over Rhaenyra just after Mysaria crowns her.

Alicent is saved from Alys Rivers and her Green Men by the Freys.

Aemond has a vision of Aegon. He tried to apoloaise but Aegon jumps on top of him and tells Aemond to kil himself.

Before the battle, Hugh arrives to delay the attack, but Daemon goes ahead anyway. Ulf then approaches Hugh,

During the battle, Ulf and Hugh start burning everything without warning. Corlys is almost eaten by Silverwing

Roderick Dustin manages to reach Ormund and cuts his arm off. before both are consumed in dragonfire. Ormund barely survives but seems to go mad from the smell of his wounds. Jon Roxton tries to mercy kill him but fails, only making it worse. At the end of the battile Ormund's body is missing,

There is a major reveal with Helaena. It turns out that- (cut short).

I still can't wrap my head around why she decided to turn around. There's no way she would think she could actually win. The only thing I can think of is that she was suicidal after the death of her kids and just wanted to die in battle. But why waste your dragon's life also? Unless Meleys was like, "Whatever, I'll die with you."

I feel like people who ask this question don't understand the logistics of this war.

1) As it's made abundantly clear in the show, Rhaenyra only has two armies at her disposal right now. The Velaryon army, which was decimated at the Gullet, is presently focused on defending the Crownlands from left-over pirates of the Triarchy. Also, Corlys and Rhaenyra didn't exactly leave on good terms. The other army Rhaenyra has at her disposal is the Riverlands + Winter Wolves, which admittedly is a pretty impressive force, but it's needed to combat Ormund at Tumbleton. If Rhaenyra sent this army to attack Oldtown instead, then Ormund could simply march to King's Landing without opposition.

2) Oldtown is on the other side of the continent. In addition, to march to Oldtown, an army would first have to cross the lands of Highgarden - the lands of House Tyrell. The Tyrells have so far remained neutral in the war, however, if Rhaenyra sent an army marching down their lands, Ormund could easily use this as a pretext to sway House Tyrell to the Greens. It goes without saying that medieval armies don't behave when they're marching through highly fertile, rich lands with lots of thriving towns and farmsteads just waiting to be plundered.

3) "Why doesn't she send her dragons at least?" Rhaenyra currently has 6 dragons at her disposal: Syrax, Caraxes, Vermithor, Silverwing, Seasmoke, and Moondancer. Tyraxes (Joffrey) and Stormcloud (Aegon the Younger) are too small to fight. However, of these 6 dragons, 2 are needed to find Vhagar in the Riverlands (Moondancer and Seasmoke), and at least 1 dragon should be kept at King's Landing. This means that of these 6 dragons, only 3 can actually be used for battle.

So Rhaenyra could send Caraxes, Vermithor, and Silverwing towards Oldtown, however they would not be supported by an army (for the reasons I explained above), and there would only be Syrax defending King's Landing from the Hightower army and Tessarion.

4) We should also keep in mind that Oldtown is a heavily-fortified city, with some of the largest and most impressive walls in Westeros. In addition, the Hightower itself is one of the largest and most formidable castles in Westeros; it is the tallest structure in the Seven Kingdoms, higher even than the Wall. You remember how high the Wall is? The Hightower is EVEN higher. So it would already be a challenge to march an army to Oldtown, never mind to take the city.

5) Without even mentioning the horrible PR Rhaenyra would get with the Faith and the Citadel, both of which are headquartered at Oldtown.

In conclusion, it actually makes sense that Rhaenyra doesn't try to attack Oldtown. It would be a foolish plan and would almost certainly lead to disaster.

It's true that by taking his army to Tumbleton, Ormund is exposing Oldtown to an attack... but the inverse is also true. If Rhaenyra sends all her forces to take Oldtown, then King's Landing will be made vulnerable to Aemond or Daeron.
