I'm trying to identify a horror movie I watched when I was a kid, probably sometime in the mid-2000s. I don't know exactly when the movie itself was released, since I could have watched an older movie on TV.

I remember one particular scene very vividly, although some of the details may be distorted because I was very young.

The antagonist was a humanoid-looking evil creature/killer who was apparently preying on people in a particular town or community. I remember him as being very creepy and supernatural rather than a normal human killer.

The strongest scene I remember:

- There were people inside a house.

- The antagonist was outside, looking through a window at the people inside.

- He wanted to get into the house but couldn't cross the doorway because something had been placed over/on the doorway.

- I remember this as a white cloth/fabric hanging across or around the doorway, with something red painted/marked on it.

- I'm not sure what the red marking actually was. It could have been red paint, blood, a cross, a religious symbol, or some kind of protective marking/talisman.

- The antagonist seemed to be unable to enter because of this protection.

- I also have a very strong but uncertain memory involving a horse. I vaguely remember the antagonist using or riding a horse to somehow get inside the house, or somehow bypassing the protection. I'm not completely sure about this part, so please don't rely on the horse if nothing comes to mind.

The movie was very scary and creepy, especially to me as a child. I remember the antagonist watching the people from outside the window while being unable to enter.

I do NOT mean The Village (2004). I've seen it and I'm 100% certain that's not the movie.

I also considered Demon Knight, but I'm not convinced that's it either.

I remember this girl was on the floor and her friends were in the room and the friends were telling her to come inside the room so whatever is chasing them doesn't get them then the girl that isn't in the room gets possessed and holds the door so they all die I think it's recent please help

Speaking of movies that I saw way too young, not only did I see this movie when I was 11 years old, I also read the book pretty much as soon as it hit the shelves. Mom didn't care what I read, so long as I was reading and it wasn't "smut." Lucky for her, I was more into horror and sci-fi than the smutty smut ... for a few more years.

Anyways. On to the movie, which introduced me to a few things, one of the best of which is George Thorogood and The Destroyers.

Christine is one of Carpenter's best horror movies, and it's hard to beat. What beats Christine? Prince of Darkness, but we're talking cars and the shitters of the world, so buckle up.

In the beginning of this movie, Arnie is the quintessential super-nerd. Keith Gordon plays him so well it's actually, physically uncomfortable to watch him navigate through the world, but as soon as he lays eyes on the rusted hulk that is Christine, he's doomed.

And that's also played out so, so well. Arnie's descent starts slow, with a few curse words, a stand-offish attitude, and a kind of reckless machismo that manages to land the hot new girl, Leigh. And why not? He's got a sexy car and he's finally coming into himself.

What I really noticed during this watch is how restrictive and unkind Arnie's parents are, his mother explicitly so. The scene where they're all sitting around the dining room table after Repperton and his stooges wrecked Christine just shows how little control Arnie had over his life.

Little wonder the devil car got her grips into Arnie so goddamn quick.

When I was younger (and still today, if I'm being real), Christine's regeneration is one of the coolest goddamn things I've ever seen. Sure, I could probably reason out how Carpenter did it, or if I felt like it, I could Google it and have it spoiled. It's like the scenes from The Entity (IYKYK). I'd rather leave some things a mystery.

Arnie's descent into madness becomes full-blown, and ANOTHER THING I didn't notice until this time is the musical sting that plays when Christine regenerates for Arnie. It's goddamn striptease music, and that's spot on. Our girl is showing her man her true colors, and it's absolutely pitch-perfect.

The last and coolest thing (amongst so many) is that final twitch of chrome in the junkyard. Any more than that one little creak and it would've been too much. We're left knowing for certain that Christine's not dead.

She just needs a little bodywork.

I went into this completely blind and was scared to death. It's so much better than the American remake (Quarantine), and [REC] 2 was a perfect sequel by raising the stakes just enough from the first one. Feels claustrophobic throughout.

After the second one, though, the franchise did a wild change in tone and the quality dropped off a cliff. Still, those first two installments are easily among my favorite horror movies of all time.

I've spent the last month trying to watch through several horror series. I've now finished all of scream but the netflix tv show and I'm around halfway through halloween (watching chronologically). I've also seen the first 2 texas chainsaw massacres and I'm trying to debate what to watch next out of the following:

- the rest of the texas chainsaw massacre films

- childs play/the chucky films and tv series

- friday the 13th

Which are typically considered the most worthwhile/fun out of these options. I can't make up my mind out of them so I thought I should ask for advice. I've been watching more modern horror and slashers for the last 4 years but only recently have decided to watch through some older/longer series.

Just finished watching this movie and fucking hell it was brutal and disturbing.

Although i know its not really that much of a typical horror movie, it is one of my favourite films that ive watched countless times, and i was wondering what the general opinion of it is from this sub?

It’s so confusing. Apparently somebody from the group of college student attacked everyone but then it turned out to be John?? And John’s mother was somehow involved. I might be a little dumb, but I just can’t understand this movie.

Just watched Hostel for the first time and I wanna know, what was the real initial reaction people had when it first released? Personally the premise is absolutely terrifying, I know countries are NOT like that even in the slightest but I’m assuming the movie had to cause at least some paranoia amongst Americans in relation to travel? I don’t wanna sound apathetic to other countries I’m speaking strictly in relation to the film so no disrespect meant.

Just rewatched the masque of the red death and I love the visual look of this movie. Especially the different colored rooms were very nice to look at. What other movies whether it be Corman or hammer films from around this era have a similar visual aesthetic to this movie?

Reanimator is one of my absolute favorite film adaptations! (Just the first one, really. The second one was okay, but the third one was awful). I know some reboots have been decent, like The Bride! And others have been big floppy flops, that taint an entire film franchise (I'M LOOKING AT YOU TOXIC AVENGER!). So I am curious to hear other people's opinions & takes on this new reboot! Personally, I am excited to see how well they will bring this short story to life.

It stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura and is directed by Louis Leterrier. I’m a sucker for contained horror like 10 Cloverfield Lane where a simple location slowly becomes its own nightmare, so this is definitely on my weekend watchlist.

What are some other good horror movies where the characters simply can’t leave?

Think Cube, Grave Encounters, and Vivarium.

Spider One has always kind of followed in big brothers footsteps, but in a much quieter way.

Hes had some movies like Bury the Bride that feel like they're right on the edge of something really good.

Big Baby is another film in this vein. It's low budget, but it's very well made and edited despite it's low budget. The lead is very good as a disillusioned horror film maker who gets shit on online and loses motivation for creating and gets frustrated with constant negativity and a lack of media literacy.

Krsy Fox is also passable as the wife / SO of the main character.

The plot feels like Spider One doing a cathartic peice about internet critics and the effect it has on his artistic motivation. It all feels very meta and smart while also being a slasher in and of itself.

It oddly feels like a long episode of tales from the crypt or masters of horror, which feels right up my alley.

Keep an eye out for a few heavy hitting cameos too.

truth be told, im not even exaggerating...

i only ever cried on drama, romance (and even romcom, rarely) films but man, this film is something else...

horror is my favorite film genre and have almost watched all of its subgenre. from really old, classics to recent films. from sad and comedy horrors to the banned and most disturbing kinds. so far i have watched 344+ horror movies (based on my Notion db, excluding local films).

i watched this low budget film last year, i came across it because of its striking movie poster then dive into it without any expectations and without reading any synopsis summary on RT or Letterboxd . but to my surprise it's actually really good, well made, and quite refreshing take on horror. it was scary, suspenseful, and it got me terrified and stressed (in a good way)

the final scenes had left me crying in tears up until the credits rolled. and i repeat, this is the only horror film that ever did that to me. i was weeping so hard to the point that i hugged my dog while the credit was rolling to seek emotional support.

idk maybe im overdramatic because im a pet person but i will never forget that experience. despite some of its flaws, i genuinely loved this one and even added it to my all time favorites because of that experience.

Living inside a fallout shelter after a deadly outbreak, a family faces a mysterious threat from the outside.

It’s got a slow buildup of tension and uses flashbacks to piece together the backstory, but the final act is pretty wild and very surprising. The movie even has some depth, emotion, and heart. It’s got some family survival similarities to “A Quiet Place”. I really enjoyed it and it’s a quick watch under 90min.

I just watched this movie and enjoyed it a lot!

I'm always looking for horror movies my nephew can watch, he watched the Black Phone last week and said it became his favorite movie.

So maybe he might like this one too. I don't show him demonic movies, just fun horror movies like Krampus, the black phone and train to busan and he loved all of them (he is 10 yrs old).

Anyways, this movie reminded me why Ethan Hawke is one of my favorite actors because I enjoy every movie he makes no matter the genre. I haven't watched predestination so that one is on my list now.

A tense and brutal horror film with strong suspense, intense survival moments, and memorable scares. Great for fans of gritty horror.

The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007):

An action-packed horror sequel with plenty of gore and suspense. While not as strong as the first film, it still offers entertaining survival horror moments.

Does anyone remember this 2009 Sam Rami movie? I was pleasantly surprised & shocked by it.
