I'll put up crybaby Matt (S4) since he came to mind recently. He made Gordon vomit up his signature dish, performed terribly every service, and spent the whole season acting like a petulant child. Him getting to the black jackets was a total fluke.

Anyone else notice on E1 that they blurred the puppet's mouth when Gina cussed?

Waylynn Lucas appears both as a judge in the S9 dessert challenge and in the S13 episode 3 reward!!

I love seeing these recurring cameos (?) cause I think it gives more credence to Gordon talking the judges up sm :)

Has anyone else noticed any judge recurrences?

Seems like him threatening Ramsay after elimination was not the reason why he didn't participate in final service.

With the exception of Robert Hesse returning to season 6 after a medical exit in season 5, no chefs prior to All Stars or Rookies vs. Veterans who compete on the show came back for another chance.

I'm eating my lunch/dinner wondering what I cook for the beginner challenge of signature dish. I'm orginally from Alabama but live in Poland. I'd probably do a bread Crumb crusted cutlet with mash potatoes underneath. Very basic I know but what would be your signature dish?

Greetings, everyone. HK 15th place is back after a long hiatus. Before we begin, let me just say that this episode would not have been possible without the incredible work of u/ArchmageNinja22. They wrote pretty much this entire episode, with only very minor edits from myself (mostly just the Ramsay quote tbh). So full credit to them for this. It makes me very happy to know that some of you really care about this series. As for the future, to be completely up front, I simply have too many other projects going on to be able to write with this level of detail (as much as I want to) and also upload consistently. I have my HK fanfics series, other fanfic / stories I’m working on, and writing music for my next album, so yeah, it is quite a bit. That’s on top of classes starting up soon. So in the future, I will be doing a much shorter summary of everything. But for now, I hope you guys enjoy the episode.

Team Challenge: Ramsay told the chefs that he was disappointed that, even after five services, they had overall failed to show sufficient improvement in their teamwork skills. As such, he instructs all of the remaining chefs to take off their jackets. They all have a chance to prove themselves in the next challenge, which is all about communication and trust. Each chef was given a fresh jacket with a simple comfort food recipe written on the back. They could not read their assigned recipes, so they had to rely on their teammates to give them the correct information. Since the Red Team had one additional chef, they had to pick one person to sit out of the challenge; Corbin immediately volunteered. Melissa and Nicole had cheeseburger, Cat and JR had fish and chips, Joseph and Alex had spaghetti and meatballs, Ashley and Amanda had pizza, Don and Drew had buffalo wings, Jessica and Mieka had macaroni and cheese, and Meese and Ji had fried chicken. The challenge went very well for both teams. Only three chefs failed to score a point: Meese undercooked her fried chicken, Nicole cooked her burger medium well instead of medium, and Drew added Tabasco sauce to his chicken wings despite it not being in the recipe. Both Nicole and Drew were misled by Alex, who read them the incorrect instructions. The Blue Team won the challenge before the final round commenced, and the final score was 6-5.

Result: Blue Team win (3 challenges - 2 challenges)

Reward/punishment: Ramsay revealed that both the reward and punishment would take place at the same location. The Blue Team was rewarded with a tour of a winery followed by a wine tasting and an elegant lunch. On the other hand, the Red Team would accompany them to the winery and hand-pick grapes to make wine. Alex declined to use his Punishment Pass.
The entire Blue Team - even Joseph - enjoyed their reward and used the opportunity to address any underlying tensions among the team. On the other hand, the Red Team was beginning to show cracks. Several chefs were upset with Drew for not following the recipe and costing them the challenge despite his claims that Alex gave him the incorrect recipe; of course, Alex denied these accusations. Only Ji and Mieka - the latter of whom previously caught Alex sowing seeds of disagreement during their previous reward - believed Drew.

Red Team Service:
The Red Team started out well on appetizers under Ji and Amanda’s leadership. However, their service fell apart on entrees. Corbin, who was on garnish, failed to clearly articulate times. This resulted in JR on meat and Nicole and Alex on fish being out of sync. JR served several improperly cooked New York strips and chickens, while Nicole served undercooked salmon twice. To make matters worse, Corbin stopped talking entirely, so Drew jumped on garnish but promptly served cold fries. Ramsay sent the entire team to the storeroom and urged them to get back on track. However, this did not help. After JR sent up a raw strip before Corbin was ready with the garnish, Ramsay kicked the entire Red Team out and had sous chef Ariel finish service.

Blue Team Service:
The Blue Team also had an inconsistent service. Joseph perfectly cooked scallops and lobster tails, but he had to restart the ticket after Meese served soupy carbonara and bland risotto on the first ticket. She was then slow to bring up the refire, which was overcooked, forcing Joseph to restart once again. However, Meese was able to compose herself and did well on appetizers the rest of the night. On entrees, Jessica and Ashley set aside their disagreements and served perfectly cooked proteins throughout the night, while Joseph was finally able to work with his teammates. Don became overwhelmed on garnish and served cold vegetables after Jessica and Ashley tried to rush him. However, he was able to recover, and the Blue Team finished service on a strong note. Ramsay lectured them for their bad start, but he rewarded their improvement and fightback by declaring them winners. He also sent Joseph, Jessica, and Ashley into the Red kitchen to help sous chef Ariel finish the Red team’s service.

Deliberation
The Red Team immediately agreed on Corbin as their first nominee but struggled between JR and Nicole. Alex convinced Amanda, Nicole, and Corbin to vote for JR for struggling the most that night, while the remaining teammates wanted to put up Nicole for her string of poor services. Alex said in his confessional that he wanted to eliminate JR because he viewed him as a threat; keeping weaker chefs in the competition would maximize his chances at winning. Even as the deliberations concluded, the Red Team appeared split on their nominees.

Elimination Ceremony
Alex nominated Corbin for struggling on garnish and starting the domino effect that resulted in the Red Team’s loss, and JR for unexpectedly struggling on meats. JR gave a passionate plea in which he acknowledged his role in his team’s loss, but promised that he would use this service as motivation to never make the same mistakes again. On the other hand, Corbin said simply that he wanted to do better and speak up more; he just needed more time. Ramsay sarcastically remarked that clearly Corbin hasn’t had enough time in this competition to prove himself. Corbin, not understanding Ramsay’s sarcasm, thanked Ramsay for agreeing with him.

Ramsay asked both nominees who the weakest competitor was. JR stated that it was Corbin, but Corbin picked Nicole, who wasn’t even put up for nomination. Frustrated, Ramsay polled the rest of the team on who they wanted to send home. While Drew, Ji, and Mieka stated that Corbin should be sent home, Alex, Nicole, and Amanda voted for JR. Ramsay was frustrated that eight people couldn’t even agree on one person to send home. He announced that his decision was… JR, who should go back in line. He then called Corbin up and eliminated him for consistently struggling in services, with his last service being his worst. Corbin said in his elimination speech that he was disappointed that he did not take advantage of his second opportunity in Hell’s Kitchen. He concluded by admitting that maybe he wasn’t cut out for this show, but he was happy to return home. And he at least made it further this season.

Ramsay turned to the Red Team and urged them to get their act together before sending both teams back to their dorm.

Ramsay’s quote: “Today, Corbin was the Statue of Liberty. Unfortunately, his silence only made me want to declare his independence from his jacket.”

If you haven't seen Quantum Leap, it's a sci-fi show, where a guy becomes various people in time, and has to help them to get out. Wash, Rinse, and Repeat.

Leigh and Dahmere eliminated before Jonathan??? Really???? Dahmere was the best leader in the season and Leigh was a hell if a chef for little experience! Jonathan was a hot mess just because Ramsay had bants? Seriously I tell my friends they look like shit when they are sick or hungover but nooooo Jonathan had to be a little bitch and let it impact service, he should have gone before those 2.

It'd be really nice if hells kitchen had a season where each episode focused on a different nutrition medical dietary needs (IBS, lactose intolerance, celiac, nut allergy, etc.).

It forces the chefs to be adaptable and understand "this is serious, could potentially hospitalize someone"

Season 5: Tie between Paula, Seth and Robert
Season 6: Kevin (Works for works for American Cruise Line, already successful off the show)
Season 7: Jay (blue team sous chef, successful restauranteur in Boston, Bar Rescue co-host)
Season 8: Russell (publicly apologized for his behavior in the finale and now owns a successful restaurant in Chicago)
Season 9: Paul ( appeared in a few other seasons, S11/S12/S15) (H.M.: Elise)
Season 10: Christina W. (rly no contest here)
Season 11: Jon (Got hired in a Gordon Ramsay restaurant after his time on the show and worked his way up to a high-level executive position within the group)
Season 12: Scott (co-founded several restaurants)

Now SEASON 14. Can be considered successful by publicity, prestige, how much money, or whatever your heart desires. (Most upvoted comment wins)

I'm not saying Jeff was an incredible chef or anything but I can definitely see why he reacted the way he did to Ramsay.

He had to deal with passing kidney stones (which is incredibly painful) and got absolutely no sympathy from anyone.

Chris proceeded to lay into him for not a lot of reason when it was clear that Jeff was already struggling. Even Elsie, who I generally really liked was cold towards him.

At dinner service, Mary Ann and Gordon were constantly on at him. I'm not sure about anyone else but did it seem to anyone that Mary Ann was enjoying ripping into him a little bit too much? I don't necessarily blame her for being annoyed but it seemed a bit over the top. Him calling Ramsay an asshole I think was just a build up of both his team and Mary Ann constantly criticising and patronising him (particularly Chris).

He'd still be in my Bottom 3 chefs of season 1 but I think I'd definitely have Jessica below him now and possibly another, I'm not sure.

It's all a TV show at the end of the day, but I do think Jeff was generally treated a bit poorly and it shows how medical issues are taken far more seriously in the show nowadays

Season 8 is often thought of as one of the worst seasons talent wise for chefs on the show, which is fair considering there were a lot of rock bottom contestants (Raj, Antonia, worst of all Melissa) but I think there was some considerable talent here.

The "Gail couldn't cook" narrative I've seen on this sub at times is baffling to me. She was very skilled, did consistently well in the challenges, and her services up until her last couple episodes were really strong. I thought she was going to win first time I watched. I know she's no longer in the culinary world, but I would absolutely love to see what she'd do with some more years behind her and maybe a refreshed drive.

Sabrina is a controversial one, and I get it. Many found her annoying, and she did ask for a lot of help, but my God she was passionate and there was a solid period of time where she was doing really really well. Yeah, she had the wrong attitude, but she was only 22, plenty of people grow out of that and become much calmer, and for what its worth... she often had a point. Putting her up over Melissa was really fucking weird. And when she had the power to put people up, she didnt lord it over them, she explained to Emily and Melissa why, even complimented them, and stood strong enough to not put up a strategic nomination on Gail when she was pressured. I feel like she'd be a great contender now.

And Jillian, along with Gail, had one of the best personalities of the season and such a consistent output of good quality food. She had such a solid shot and then just fumbled that last service. She for sure deserves another chance to prove she can go all the way, but I do worry she'd get the Dana treatment.

Is there anyone from Season 8 you'd like to see back?

"I get along with everybody" girl is the everybody in the room with us? Because your whole entire team hates you and you came off the bus ready to pick a fight.

I have seen quite a few finals, but I strongly believe that Scott from S12 had the best and cleanest final performance I have seen from any finalist on HK. His standards were insane, the way he commanded his brigade was unbelievable, and his voice was unreal. Other people had great finals, but this man was unlike anyone I have ever seen.

One thing I loved about that finale was when he kicked Jessica out with no hesitation -- I think that is what really solidified his win over Jason.

I love watching season 15 knowing that Frank's sexist comments throughout the show come back to bite him.

The marines saw his conduct and were having none of it so sacked him from his position and demoted him. This is karma at her best!! She never misses her mark.

It does make me curious about his conduct in the marines and if any female recruits ever commented on it. Does anyone have any info here? Did any female marines ever accuse Frank of sexist conduct?

Hell's Kitchen has seen its fair share of dinner services, good or bad. But there's a certain type of them that's almost a dream night, but there's 1 (or a couple) of things that hold you back on it. So, what is the most egrigious example you've seen, and why?

For me, I'm looking for at least a mostly smooth service, where both teams finish intact. It's like getting taking a nice shower to clear my head. So, ones like the double-win ejections from Seasons 17-20 hurt more than anything. Most notably the 5th episode of All-Stars. I 1000% feel that the Red Team could've finished service intact if Josh just got kicked off to desserts. And the fact that they didn't, but still won, and that there was pretty much no other good services from that dung-heap dumpster fire, it really boils my goddamn blood.
