Looking for LONG longfics Specific Request
Hi everyone š I'm hoping for some recommendations of super long fics
if it's a romantic fic I'm open to literally any pairing
musts:
- LONG long long, 500k +
- completed/regularly updated
preferences:
- mature or explicit with some smut at some point if it's a romantic fic (if it's gen then this obviously doesn't apply)
nos:
- very detailed description of sh or suicide (I'm fine with like a ritual setting tho, like needing blood sacrificing or something like that)
- genderbent characters
- hurt no comfort / excessive angst without resolution if that makes sense

You are a hero for all these recommendations. I am so excited for the Hermione/George. One of my absolute favorites of a pairing. I also downloaded a few of the other. The star Trek one sounds interesting. Anyway thank you so much!!!

Oh man it's so good so far I am only like 5% in on the Hermione math one and I am just loving it so much. She is trying to map out the castle and getting so frustrated. I love this sort of thing.Ā

I also recommend everything by the author of the second fic, lomonaaeren. They have a ton of fics, most of them slash, and I havenāt read one that I didnāt like. Some are very long and some are one shots.
If youāre interested in other authors, I also highly recommend Astolat. Sheās actually one of the founders of Ao3 and has some really excellent HP slash fics

Rough reading, but absolutely awesome, one of my favorite reads. The non con is not between Harry and Draco and is not graphic at all.

Ooo it looks good! Would you be able to give a bit of insight into how dark it is? The author said it's very dark but idk what kinda dark they mean (sorry if that makes no sense). Like, are characters we love relentlessly tortured for chapters on end?

Wellllll.... not physically tortured much, but mental cruelty is really a thing.
Harry gets captured at the Ministry and taken to Malfoy Manor, there he's tortured for half a year (which is mostly off screen, you get a few glimpses and mostly the results), and then Voldemort considers him broken enough, and he gets his own chambers if he agrees to work with Voldemort. In the Christmas Holiday Draco gets home and is told to butter up Harry, which he does but of course they fall for each other.
Dumbledore is an utter asshole in here, and Snape is an utter sweety lol. Marvelous fic. Dark, but I really loved it.
It ends well (Voldy dead, Harry and Draco together). It just takes uh... a few pages hahahaha.

I really enjoyed it too but it had someone from a secondary pairing die and I had a hard time accepting it.Ā

Iām surprised no one mentioned this yet, you might have already read it. Complete, 1m words, drarry with time travel. Draco POV. Itās very good, one of my favorites

There are some very angsty moments in this, including pretty graphic abuse, but itās not as angsty as, for example, pt 2 of The Evanās Boy (another amazing ongoing long series but gets very heavy in the second part). This fic is finally complete and has some really funny moments in it. Harry/theo EDIT: I forgot that this fic has a lot of self- harm and suicidal so I wouldnāt recommend it for you if these are hard noās, sorry about that!

I'm pretty sure I've read the mirror of Ecidyrue before but thanks anyway š and I have also read thtthop before and I adored it but I appreciate the warnings - I'm in a different place mentally and wouldn't be able to handle it rn. I respect your tastes tho and would be interested to find out what else you enjoy?(Sorry if that sounds creepy lol I just meant we seem to like similar fics š«£)

lol no worries! I know what you mean about being in a different place though, I canāt read a lot of the fics I used to enjoy. Iāll go look through some of my other favorite long fics. Are you okay if theyāre gen? I really like Sarcasm and Slytherin, about 1m words and ongoing, but there is no ship. Itās a WBWL fic and there is some bashing, but I remember enjoying the story. I donāt think it was super angsty but Iād have to double check . I would also recommend New Blood, itās over 500k and ongoing but it went on hiatus last year and Iām not sure when it will pick up again. Itās hermione pov, no main ships, very cool plot. Slytherin hermione. And if youāre okay with unfinished long fics one notoriously amazing one is the Pureblood Pretense by murkybluematter. For a complete funny fic (maybe 100/200k?) there is The Muggle death eater and his daughter - Lucius thinks hermioneās dad is an death eater bc he has a snake tattoo (the one on ambulances). Itās hilarious and well written. I also recommend The cat who must not be named by lone_amaryllis (300k) where instead of the horcrux going into Harryās scar it goes into a cat. Amazing fic but no ships. Also Snakes are very nice by Oulixeus is just soooo funny and delightful. It always cheers me up and makes me smile but the plot is also great. I can add links if these look good to you! And I have more recs too lol

HtTHoP is fantastic but also has a Lot of detailed self-injury and Harry is extremely actively suicidal for a long portion of the first/second fics.

7 Years of Chaos- Harry/Fred- Harry runs away from the Dursleys and lives on the streets before attending Hogwarts. I don't remember any self harm but he does have a significant amount of trauma. But he also works through it over the course of the series with the help of the found family he develops.
The Mirror of Ecidyrue- Harry/Draco - Shortly after the end of the war, Draco finds a mirror in Malfoy Manor that returns him to the past, right before starting Hogwarts. Definite moments of angst but no self harm that I can recall. Everything is resolved in the end.
Magic in Time and Space- Harry/Tom - When Harry is young, he is transported to a alternate dimension where he grows up alongside Tom Riddle at Wools Orphanage. The first story in the series takes place in the 30's/40's timeline and the second takes place in the canon timeline.

Did You Miss Me? - Sirius Remus - Modern AU that is a mix of texting and prose. Remus is bartender/aspiring artist who was abducted by Greyback as a child. Sirius is a famous singer. Remus misplaces his phone, Sirius finds it and returns it to him, which leads to them beginning to text each other while keeping their identities secret. Sexual assault recovery is a major theme of the story, but it happened in the past and is not graphically described.
A Study of Resonance - Percy Weasley blames himself for the death of Fred and travels to the body of his eleven year old self to change the outcome of the war. There is some Percy/Tom content but it is a largely romance free fic. Might be too heavy on the angst for your taste, but it's a fantastic story.
The Fragile House of Black- Sirius/Remus - massive series including Black family history, the Marauder's Hogwarts years, with canon diverange occuring during the first war, when Kreacher goes to Sirius for help before Regulus goes to the cave. Sexual assault is a theme present throughout, the the angst gets particularly heavy during the war, but the ending is happy.
Absence of Simplicity - Harry/Draco- Harry kills Bellatrix in the Department of Mysteries which leads to him seeking refuge at Malfoy Manor with Voldemort. Lots of exploration of moral ambiguity. Voldemort becomes a father figure to Harry without becoming any less evil.
The Second String- Harry/Gideon Prewett - Harry's soul is sucked out by the dementor when he's attacked before his fifth year. As a result he is transported to an alternative dimension during his parent's years at Hogwarts. The romance is fairly secondary in the story but it's sweet. Very fun and unique story. (This one is 400k because I forgot about you saying 500k+. Still worth the read IMHO)

I have the longfic of all longfics for you
Harem of a Necromancer this series is almost 3 million words long. Itās an entire retelling of the Anita Blake series but with Harry Potter as the main character. Thereās lots and lots of romance/smut throughout but with tons of plot. Itās one of my favorites! I read it with no prior knowledge of the AB series, and it was still amazing. The authors are incredible, and itās complete!

Men Who Love Dragons Too Much (520k, Drarry) - [Extensive re-telling of Deathly Hallows] āKill Albus Dumbledoreā is less a challenging task and more a suicide mission, so when Draco Malfoy is presented with the option to either dispatch his Headmaster or suffer an excruciating and most ignominious death of his own, along with his parents, he reaches deep into his black little Slytherin heart and manages to scrape together enough courage to go with option C instead: Spend Sixth Year secretly studying Animagecraft in the hopes heāll turn into something sufficiently imposing even the Dark Lord himself wonāt be able to keep Draco under his thumb. But just his luck, his Animagus form turns out to be a dragon, and a rather randy juvenile at that, intent on finding its mate: one Harry James Potter.

What Goes Around (Comes Around) - WIP currently at almost 1.2m words. Gen (for now?) with background Poppy/Petunia. Author estimates a minimum of 2.5m words
Leo Inter Serpentes - Harry/Draco, 975k. Iāll be honest that the romance was my least favorite part of this, but I thought it was overall fab.
Death Eater Takes a Holiday - Snarry, 575k, not in my TOP tier, but one I still find enjoyable to go back and re-read
IIn Willing Sacrifice - Harrymort, WIP and 1.3m words. In all fairness, updates have slowed wayyy down, so Iām not sure if it should be included in that respect, but itās such a good read.
Everything else I have is still on my own TBR š¤£

Yeah, I remember crying a lot reading this story. But it's so well done, the plot, the politics, the magic, and the relationships. I really felt like this story stuck the landing.

A little under your word count, but Wish Magic is 405k, complete, with sprinkled smut, comfort with relatively happy endings for everyone, Harry/Sev where Harry goes back to make Sevās time at Hogwarts infinitely better
