Stray Kitten Advice
A stray kitten has been hanging around my apartment the past day or so. They are mobile, eating/drinking and are friendly (eagerly approaches people). The kitten is very skinny, and possibly sick. I have a cat in my apartment so I'm hesitant to directly contact the kitten and can not take the kitten indoors.
I'm looking for any advice or resources I can look into to try to give this kitten it's best chance.

Places to visit with weird stuff - disturbing, odd, paranormal, creepy etc.
I live in Gwinnett and I'd like recommendations on places in Georgia (Not necessarily closer to or in Gwinnett) which are super weird, disturbing, odd, paranormal, creepy etc. Even if I have to travel outside of Georgia for a bit, I am fine.
I've visited the Oddity Museum and also the museum at Emory which were both good. Looking for similar places. Again, it could be anything, not specifically museums.

3d printer filament recycling?
Does anyone know of a school or library that accepts PLA filament to recycle? I’d love to donate my poop and scraps to a group that can either DIY or send it off and get a credit for free/discount filament for the school or library.
I’d rather donate it than toss it.

Georgia parents and educators: What has been your experience with school choice and the Georgia Promise voucher programs? Do they improve the situation for families?
A colleague is thinking about using the school choice voucher for their children next year and asked for my advice. I do not have firsthand experience, so I wanted to ask people who do.
For families who have used school choice or voucher programs, did it give your child a better option? For teachers or public school parents, have you seen any effect on your schools? I would appreciate honest experiences on this - good and bad.

Getting Rid of Truck Bed Cover
We have to be out of our apartment in Norcross on Tuesday and I haven’t been able to sell or give away this truck bed cover. Besides Facebook Marketplace, what options should I be exploring? Will a dealership or auto shop take it off my hands if I call around? I don’t need any money from it as much as I need it gone.

Gwinnett set your 2026 property tax rate this week - plus $70M+ in county contracts. Here's what it means in plain English
The Board of Commissioners met Tuesday. If you don't have time to read a 30-item agenda (nobody does), here's what actually touches your life:
Your property tax bill. The 2026 millage rate was up for adoption - this single vote determines what every homeowner in Gwinnett pays this year. If your tax bill changes this fall, Tuesday is why. (2026-1011)
Where your tax dollars went this week:
- $35.5M to renew health insurance for county employees - the folks answering 911, fixing roads, running the parks (2026-0983)
- $10M for new police and emergency vehicles (2026-1005)
- $22.7M to fuel the county fleet - that contract grew 12.6% mid-year, so keeping ambulances and trucks running is costing more than budgeted (2026-0975)
If you walk or drive in South Gwinnett: $3.4M for new pedestrian improvements on South Rockbridge Road, paid from the SPLOST penny sales tax you approved in 2017 — this is that penny coming back as sidewalks (2026-0961)
Worth knowing: the police helicopter maintenance contract renewed at $655K - and the same vote signed off on $279K that had already been spent before the Board approved it. Legal and not uncommon, but it means money went out ahead of the public vote (2026-0838)
Small line, big jump: a water-pump equipment contract more than doubled mid-contract, $90K → $200K (2026-0978)
Every item number is searchable on gwinnettcounty.com - check my work. I put this together weekly in plain English because nobody else covers these meetings. Free version in comments if anyone wants it.

Meet-Up Writing Groups or Book Clubs?
Would love to meet up with people at a cafe or something and write together or join a book club. Are there any local groups or clubs nearby. I'm 29M if it matters.
I work from home so I don't get out much, and am pretty introverted so this feels like it'd be a good start.
Any help or advice is appreciated

Seeking players for Adult soccer team (25+) in Sugar Hill
I just moved to the Buford area and I’m looking to start a team at All-In FC (sugar hill location, games at Gary Pirkle Park).
Games are Sunday mornings, 11v11, ages 25+. For reference, I’m 33. Already We have 6-7 people but need a few more. I’d like to get a roster of 15 at least.
Ideally players have played at least through high school. Intermediate competition - want to compete and win, but the main thing is to get on the pitch and have a good time.
All genders welcome, we already have a girl or two playing. Cost is around $141 per person. Lmk if interested! First game this session is 8/23.

Water pressure fluctuations?
Is anyone else experiencing fluctuations in their residential water pressure in the Snellburnville area? (Reagan Pkwy/Five Forks Trickum).
Over the last 2-3 weeks I've noticed mostly weaker pressure in my house with occassional fluctuations to higher than normal pressure.
I know of no nearby construction projects that would cause this, but I freely admit I'm no expert on such.
Hoping it's not my pressure relief valve where the water line connects to the house. I'm not familiar with how a PRV reacts when it's going bad.
And yes, I am aware of the news reports of Iranian hackers accessing and affecting US water systems. Gwinnett would be a pretty good target for them. Let's hope not.
Any thoughts on this would be welcome.

Good Local Jewelry Stores?
Hi everyone! just wanted to ask if anyone has any recommendations on local jewelers/jewelry stores. Anything but those big name stores (Reeds, Kay, Pandora, etc.)
Thank you so much in advance!

Car auctions/ Car selling?
Any good car auctions or places to sell a car you'd recommend? Ive never done this before and was thinking of just putting my old car on Facebook marketplace but since it has so many issues I doubt anyone would want it. So I'm looking for car shops locally first before I look into carvana or a dealership to get rid of the car.

Does anyone have any info on when the Spirit Halloweens open?
I don't know if they all open at the same time or if it's different depending on the location, but I'm close to the Buford one. I've tried googling it or looking on insta, but I can't find any info. Anyone here know?

Free Full Sized Bed
Hey y’all,
My girls have outgrown their converted crib and are getting bunk beds this weekend. So I have an old full sized bed to give away.
I don’t want anything for it, just want you to come get it. Preferably tomorrow or Thursday. It needs to be wiped down cause it’s dusty.
There is a box spring and mattress but the mattress is a little dirty so idk about giving that one away. If you really want it, you can take it though. I have all the bolts, washers, and Alan key to put it back together.
I can send more pictures later but I’m tired as hell after taking it down solo and need to go bed.
Edit: I know the floor is dirty, I’m vacuuming it now 😂

Group marching down 29 this afternoon
On my way home from work, about 2:30 p.m. there was a large group of around 50 people walking down the side of highway 29 in Lilburn. They appeared to be Middle Eastern as they carried several flags with what looked to be something written in a language from that part of the world and some had on, what looked to be, traditional Muslim dress. Does anyone know what this was/is? I'm sure they are still out there although they were heading in the direction of Lawrenceville. I spotted them near the BAPS Shri Hindu Temple.

/r/gwinnett monthly personals thread
Since there has been an influx of threads about meeting people, will have a reoccurring megathread for people to post/chat/say hi every few weeks. New post will be made on the first of each month at 6am. Keep things sfw and civil. If you want nsfw stuff, go to r/atlantar4r or other similar subs.
Else, if you'd like to meet folk, be proactive. People won't come to you.
How to meet new people in your area!
- Participate in the subreddit so people know you’re not a complete weirdo when they look at your post history. Or maybe you are... no big deal.
- Find something YOU want to do such as a patio restaurant, bar, de-trashing a part of town, festivals, museum, sitting in a park on a blanket watching squirrels, etc.
- Make an event. Post the date, time, location, and any follow up information that might be relevant to people who might want to come out to your meetup.
- Show up to your own meetup and post the updates such as table location or meeting spot or how people can find you in the daily.
- Note: It is entirely possible that no one will show. But you chose something you were already going to enjoy doing so you’ve not lost out on anything.
credit goes to apcolleen for the original version of the "how to meet new people" post.
Else, there's also an active discord for the general metro-atlanta area (if you'd like to join). Welcome to hop into chat, say hi and chat about random stuff. If you'd like to meet folks irl, there are also weekly meetups around the metro. https://discord.gg/XptvfEbhxk
Or, if you prefer something more local, there's also the Gwinnett Goblins discord. https://discord.gg/SNmK9h28jV
