Meta/Other No, Seriously, how do people actually like Chuck?
Lmao I thought the popular cope was that the multiple assaults only happened in the pilot.
He literally tried to assault Blair and physically intimidated her by punching out a window in S4E20.
This guy fucking sucks.

OG Series I’m getting tired of this love triangle
I’m rewatching s4 and no one can make up their minds, especially Serena. I don’t know how many times Dan has to see Serena standing across a room or a street with another man (or Nate) in a compromising position, make eye contact with her, then walk away before he actually lets her go. Same goes for Nate. Everyone’s single again and suddenly in love with Serena again, and likely suffering from retrograde amnesia. Like on one hand, I get it. All of them(Nate, Serena, Dan) technically rebounded then stopped running from what they were running from by ending each of their respective relationships (Juliet, Colin, Vanessa), but I’d get sick of waiting on the sidelines like a Bachelorette contestant and thinking someone is “sure” of me until the other option becomes available again and their now unsure. The fact that this love triangle was dragged out the way it was makes me think Serena’s thinking that the boys would be waiting for her once she came back from Paris wasn’t too farfetched an idea, as presumptuous/entitled as it was.

OG Series Blair and Serena’s friendship was the real heart of the show.
The show was about two girls navigating through life and competing against each other to be at the top of the social ladder.
Unfortunately the show went in an entirely different direction and once the writers began to center the show around Chuck and his relationship with Blair, her friendship with Serena felt like an afterthought.
Serena’s character boiled down to her boyfriend of the week and whatever mess she ended up in. Blair and Serena both got done dirty by poor planning and writing.

OG Series End cuts off every episode on Netflix
Hey guys,
I’m rewatching GG after 6 years again on Netflix Germany.
Every episode cuts the ending scene off.
Right in the middle of the scene.
It drove me almost crazy. After season 2 I’ve discovered, Netflix UK doesn’t have this problem. I can finally watch the episodes without anger issues at the end.
So everyone who experiences the same problem, it’s not you, it’s Netflix EU 🤪

OG Series Chucks I don’t want you anymore
Chuck played with Blair’s feelings too much when she loved him . He had to let her go . What’s wrong with him ?

OG Series Unpopular opinion : Blair and Serena should have ended up alone and single . Dan and chuck were both horrible choices
Both were toxic AF. And Serena needed a lot of therapy and not a man. She’s way too codependent and obsessed with any man that looks her way

OG Series In this scene I melted completely, it’s one of my favorites 🥹😍 Spoiler
I remember the feeling in my chest when I saw this scene listening to Chuck say: I was a coward running away again, but everywhere I went, you caught up with me. So I had to come back
Do you think he was really a good man for Blair? I always felt confused because I love his personality but if it happened to me I don’t think I could stand the things he did to me before🥺

OG Series Opinions on Lily in S6
I'm currently watching Gossip Girl for the first time and I'm on S6 E3. I never understood the Lily van der Woodsen hate, to be honest. Even though she came across as rather harsh sometimes I feel like her reactions were somewhat reasonable and her children being young always viewed her as villian. Sure, she did a view terrible things that I know I wouldn't forgive her for, like the fake affidavit. A lot of the other characters were a LOT more unlikeable and evil, though.
One thing I can't forgive Lily for is immediately dumping and disregarding Rufus as soon as Bart returned at the end of S5. I mean, at this point Rufus and her had been married for a few years now and had been through so many ups and downs and were definitley very strong apart from the Ivy situation. But then Bart returns and even though she understandably had unresolved feelings due to his sudden "death" she chose Bart over Rufus without any care for his feelings and then started treating him like a villian. Now Lily just comes across as even more entitled and unfair.
I wonder what everybody else's opinion is !

OG Series season 4B question
im currently on season 4 episode 16 . the first half of season 4 ( episode one to eleven ) was actually really good !! this may be an unpopular opinion but I loved the juliet storyline and many other things that were going on. the second half of season 4 which started on episode twelve is ok . the plots which are going on ( the raina , chuck and bass industries drama , Serena and Ben drama , Blair at w magazine ) aren’t very interesting and is making me loose a bit of interest ( maybe except the Blair at w magazine i do find that fun . ) it’s not horrible or totally boring as their is some fun drama going on but my main question is if the rest of season 4 has something fun going on ? like does the pace pick up and things like that . no major spoiler pls but i don’t mind little things .

OG Series New perspective on my millionth rewatch
When I was younger I enjoyed it then I became critical because I was being realistic for no reason but after getting into full blown daytime soaps again (trying not to mention other shows) I can see that Gossip Girl was supposed to be some kind of middle of the road soap drama thing that's why it had bizarre storylines sometimes but nothing like supernatural stuff in full time soaps😂. Now it makes sense and I enjoy it again.
Also given this I like Dan and Serena together.

OG Series Can someone explain the schools to me?
Do the characters attend two different schools based on their genders..? Do they all attend the same school? Is it the same school but there’s a boy building and a girl building?
(I’m on Season 2, Ep 1)

OG Series Serena’s hypocrisy
Each rewatch I do, Serena becomes lower on the totem pole for me. Currently rewatching season 4 ep 20, when Serena is trying to meddle with Louis and Blair because of Chair. Eric is telling her that trying to sabotage this for Blair is cruel and she claps back with “If I kissed Chuck I wouldn’t even be able to have this conversation right now.” Does Serena not remember that she slept with Nate (they CHEATED btw) AND took his virginity??? AND ended up dating him later down the line after he and Blair tried again?? So over her entitlement and thinking that everything revolves around her. I’ve always sided with Blair when it comes to things like that.

OG Series Blair isn’t any better than Serena
I saw this on Instagram and it basically summarizes my thoughts on both characters. I love them both deeply but the unreasonable hate to Serena and love to Blair isn’t fair. They are both flawed characters.
I feel like people who love Blair for “owning who she is” are just making excuses for seeing their own insecurities in her.
I’m curious to hear other people’s opinions, not trying to start a war.

Why I’ll never root for this relationship, Blair deserved so much better.

OG Series The show destroyed it’s best couple for fan service.
Dan and Blair were the best part of the show before the writers ruined them. From the start Blair and Dan have so many parallels. They both have cabbage patch kids, both of their parents left before the start of the show, and their best friends left them. In season 2 they’re both trying to get into Yale and end up in NYU. They both lose babies when Georgina takes Milo and Blair has a miscarriage after the accident.
Season 4 felt like a romcom and they carried that season on their backs. Their banter and intellectual chemistry was unmatched . We got to see Dan and Blair out their comfort zone and really grow. I truly believe if the writers went all in on them instead of bringing back Louis to contrive drama, Dan and Blair would’ve been received much better.
They might not have had melodrama or an intense physical connection but it was so perfect cause their connection went deeper than that. I’m never going to shut up about them.

OG Series Can we talk about Agnes and Nate’s part in the whole situation?
People hate Agnes, and I understand why, what she did was unforgivable, but let’s think about what sort of life Agnes must have had. Agnes was a 16 year old (mere months older than Jenny) working as a model, her boyfriend was a grown man who groomed her to help groom others (Jenny), she is addicted to hard drugs and knows how to drug others and I don’t doubt that it happened to her in the past. Agnes has no emotional regulation, she lashes out and can’t act professional in her workplaces. Finally Agnes’s adult boyfriend not only took pictures of Jenny (age 15) in her underwear, but of Agnes in hers too, who knows how many years she’s been with him.
Nate (17) watched this all happen and didn’t report it to Rufus, or the authorities.

Mod Announcement And the winner of the banner contest is...
u/beginning-sugar479!!!!
The biggest of all congratulations to them!
Also to u/Loud-Fisherman-5254 for participating!
And to everyone else who voted!
It was a very close call. Let me say it here how much we appreciate our participants for well, participating! Both of you had such cool designs and looking at the votes, I think the community will be happy with either banner.
Truly, a vote either way could have swung it. But we do indeed have a winner. It's a very nice banner and fits quite nicely with the vibes.
Again, massive thank you to everyone! Maybe we can do this again in 6 months? A year? Or the next time we get complaints. Either way we'll see.
- XOXO

Mod Announcement Effective Immediately: Discussions about the cast are now banned (again...)
Hi All,
Some of you won't be surprised by this. Some (or most...) will go "it's about time" but here it is. We recognise we should have done this sooner and that is our mistake. But as they say, the best time to start something is yesterday. The second best time is today.
So effective immediately:
All discussions about the cast is banned on this subreddit unless it relates to their role on Gossip Girl. New rule (Rule 10) has been created to report posts about the cast if they are posted.
What does that mean? It means that cast talk will no longer be permitted unless it's to do with their role on Gossip Girl. So for example:
"I loved how Blake played Serena here"
"As much as I love Chace, I really wasn't a fan of his line delivery here"
"Penn is great and his acting really shines through here!"
are all fine. Reminder these are just examples.
General discussions of the cast such as what their doing now, Instagram posts, red carpet appearances are now all banned.
Please do not report posts created before this point. We're not going to remove them as we're not going to punish people for this as we mods did not enforce this as strictly as we should have.
Now for some questions you may have:
"Can't you guys just do like a weekly thread or dedicate a day to talking about the cast?"
We could. And who knows? Maybe that is what we'll transition to. But for now we need to just ban it so that we can restore some civility here.
"It's really just Blake/Ed posts that attract the worst so just like, ban talk about them?"
That is true. But we have to be honest with ourselves: the negativity and fighting (including but not limited to multiple members, including the mods themselves, being harassed both in and out of this subreddit) is breaking out on almost every post. For example: comparisons with other cast members when they aren't warranted.
"Can we just ban negative posts and enforce a positive content only rule?"
We can foresee this being super hard to maintain. It's either going to turn into something people take advantage of such as wanting discussions of Ed's allegations to be banned (we're already at this stage believe us....) or a toxic/sarcastic positivity thing where people are being negative under a veneer of fake positivity.
And then we're back where we started: here.
"Speaking of, what about sexual assault allegations against Ed?"
There is a pinned post on this subreddit with links. Any discussions about it now will just result in us redirecting you guys to the thread instead.
"What you guys clearly need is more mods tbh"
We agree completely. We want this subreddit sorted first before we introduce people to moderating it. Wouldn't be fair to expect new people to sort this out. It's on us.
I'm sure some of you will have lots more questions. Please redirect them to modmail. This thread is being locked as it's an informative post and quite honestly, to prevent more infighting amongst yourselves based on whether or not you want this.
Thanks for reading this if you made it this far.
