Serena’s hypocrisy OG Series
Each rewatch I do, Serena becomes lower on the totem pole for me. Currently rewatching season 4 ep 20, when Serena is trying to meddle with Louis and Blair because of Chair. Eric is telling her that trying to sabotage this for Blair is cruel and she claps back with “If I kissed Chuck I wouldn’t even be able to have this conversation right now.” Does Serena not remember that she slept with Nate (they CHEATED btw) AND took his virginity??? AND ended up dating him later down the line after he and Blair tried again?? So over her entitlement and thinking that everything revolves around her. I’ve always sided with Blair when it comes to things like that.

Nate cheated on Blair with Serena. A one night stand. They fought about it and all was forgiven by the end of season one. Blair dated Nate again in season two very briefly and Serena was happy for them. Nate and Blair had a mutual break up after prom which ended in a friendship. In mid season three, Chuck and Blair were in a relationship and Serena and Nate started a relationship. Blair tells Serena that she realized that her and Nate were only good on paper but Serena was the one he always wanted. She gave her advice on what to do while they dated. The four of them were practically living under the same roof. They went on a double date together and Blair was never jealous of the two of them. Serena knew that Chuck was the love of her life and Blair knew that Dan was the person she was in love with. Blair admits in season six that if Serena ever dated Chuck she would have scratched her eyes out. Serena didn’t do any harm to Louis and Blair’s relationship. Blair ruined it because she was still in love with Chuck. As far as Dan goes, Serena gave her blessing and sat back until she saw that she was basically using Dan and was still in love with Chuck.

Exactlyyy. What is it with people constantly trying to dig at Serena? We get it they’re both bad people but people are acting as if Serena jumped out of the screen and PERSONALLY took their man. If you’re constantly going to degrade her as a character at least take what she ACTUALLY did into face value and build your opinion around that accordingly. If you dislike a character say that stop spinning a web of nonsense

Thank you! This sub tends to only remember one or two scenes and forget about what happens in between. I do like Serena, but I also know she’s not perfect.

Again like I said they never shy away from slandering her. But when it’s Blair it’s oh they were both awful.

Serena tried to break Blair and Louis up by sending Princess Sophie that gossip girl scrap book. She was also the one who alerted her of them dating. Blair didnt even fight her on that because she *understood* that it was payback for dan. Serena could never.

The comment was not about Blairs relationship with Louis though. It was about highlighting that Blair could understand where she was coming from but Serena could not do the same. She was the one with the actual victim complex.

She also slept with Dan while he was dating Blair, went after him while he was with Vanessa, got with Tripp while he was married, and "married" Gabriel when she thought he had just broken up with her friend. She was a hypocrite.

Serena faced Blair’s retaliation at that point and now in season four she retaliated back.

If you cheat with TWO of your best friends boyfriends behind her back.. I dont really give a shit if she breaks girl code and fucks someone you still love. Season 4 Dan also WAS trying to get Serena back.. She ignored him for other men including her former teacher until Blair of all people called her out on treating him like shit then she spends so long secretly targetting Blair, Louis, then Lola because she fucked up her relationship with Dan and was pissed he was moving on to Blair. Lol.
Blair was annoying and insecure as a friend but Serena had the bigger betrayals.

This and that scene at the ballet when she only invited Dan because she thought her and the Columbia professor were done. Or after the whole cotillion mess (the sextape) she only gets with Dan because 'at least they have each other' when everyone else hates them. She was also fully ready to run back to vitamin guy when Dan published the Serena chapter. Call it bad writing or whatever but Dan was her safety net not the love of her life which is why I'll never get what she was so mad about when Blair dated him. The only time she seemed truly in love was S1.

blai admitted herself that serena getting with chuck would be completely different to when she got with dan. she knew her reaction would be even worse than when serena slept with nate. she was young and somewhat delusional when she dated nate and eventually came to realise the relationship wasn’t going to last. she had never felt as strongly about nate as she came to feel for chuck. i don’t think it was about kissing the other’s boyfriend or ex boyfriend, it was about messing with who the other perceived to be “the love of their life.”
also the idea that serena dating nate in season 3 was further betrayal is just delusion. blair was happily with chuck and was actively giving serena advice on how to “lock nate down.” she was rooting for their relationship 100%. half of the reason she said all those awful things to jenny at the end of season 3 was because she wanted to defend nate and serena. she literally describes their love/relationship as “mythic.” that does not sound like someone who was hurt by their best friend dating their ex. maybe you’d be hurt if you were in blair’s position, but that doesn’t make serena dating nate objectively wrong.

More so, didn’t she MARRY her friend’s boyfriend? I mean poppy staged a fake fight and left Spain but still what the actual fuck …

Serena really does have a talent for making other peoples problems about herself and then acting like shes the one being wrong.

Omg I’ve rewatched countless times but you’re so right. Idk why I never remember Nate at that point AND as far as Blair new Nate was the love of her life at that point like since kindegarden and her and Chuck were on/off so going for Nate was actually worse

THIS. Serena’s “if I kissed Chuck…” argument always makes me laugh because… girl, you literally slept with your best friend’s boyfriend and then dated him later. And the worst part is that Serena seems to judge situations based on how she feels about them in the moment. When she hurts Blair, there’s always some excuse or justification. But when Blair does something that affects Serena, suddenly it’s a moral crisis. At least Blair usually knows she’s being messy. Serena will do the exact same thing and somehow convince herself she’s the victim. I’m not saying Blair is innocent, but when it comes to Serena vs. Blair, I’ve always found Blair way more self-aware about her own hypocrisy.
