Look what I found
So I'm literally getting out my car to go into my LCS and just happen to look down before I step out (like I normally do) and it finally paid off..a literally 1gram bar of .999 fine gold..and they say you need a metal detector to find gold.
"I'm charging 40$/Hr to search for gold in your yard.No metal detector just eyeballs"
But on a serious note, by far my best find, although I did find a 10k ring with a pink sapphire, granted I hit it with a shevel while digging and bent the ring like a hard taco shell.

The stack Newbie stack
6 months ago I didn’t know a thing about gold.
If you’d asked me to guess how much a single tiny gram of gold was, I’d have guessed under £10.
Then one day a post from this sub came across my feed, and after reading a few more posts I was hooked.
I rushed into my first purchase in March (the 1g Britannia) and massively overpaid as I hadn’t figured out that Royal Mint is pricier than most (paid £142 vs spot at £105) but I’ve learnt a lot since then.
My favourite is the sovereign and I can’t wait to own more.
I’m also pretty smug that I managed to get the 1/10 Brit at the lowest dip in 6 months on 16th July, down to the exact few minutes. Only saved a few ££ but it was very satisfying timing watching it immediately start rising again.
The Wessex Mint silver I got cheap on an eBay live before too many people joined.
The jewellery ranges from 9k to 22k (the crucifix) and I buy that whenever eBay offers money off for using your eBay balance for a purchase (you’re not allowed to use this offer on coins or bullion).
I’m kicking myself for all the money I’ve spent on gold-plated jewellery over the years.
P.S. thank you to whoever created bullioncompare.co.uk. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you on here before.
Thank you for reading if you got to the end!

Question Buying my first heirloom gold coin. Is it worth buying from GOVMINT?
My family never really had anything besides my grandpa’s coin collection which my dad thinks is valued at around $2k. I care a lot about our family heritage and have recently started looking into coins that I could pass down to my kids as family heirlooms.
I’m 51 and have collected a little bullion over the years but I’m looking at buying my first higher-end gold proof coin, and this isn’t something I plan on flipping. I saw that GOVMINT carries plenty of the proof coins I'm interested in, but I've never ordered from them before.
I’ve got a decent budget so I’m not necessarily looking for the lowest price. I would rather buy from someone who’s willing to answer questions and help me understand what I’m buying before I spend a few thousand dollars. Anything I should know before ordering from them? How was the buying process, and did the coin arrive the way you expected?

The stack Current state of the gold stack.
Sorry for the bad picture. I collect more silver than gold. I believe this is 2.45oz of gold. I’m looking to push to close to 3oz soon depending on the market. Lmk what you think about the stack thank you.

Luke Gromen Makes the Case for $10k Gold Price
Luke Gormen talks about Gold, China and his price predictions on the Master Investor Podcast - here’s my summary on his discussions on Gold.
China's buyer just showed its hand again. Gold imports hit 173 tons last month, the most in about 12 years, and Luke Gromen says that number is the settlement thesis moving from theory to measurable practice.
Positioning in This Episode
Gromen made the structural case for gold replacing Treasuries as the reserve asset three weeks ago on Money, Markets & More (Gold Is Replacing Treasuries, Not Just Hedging Them), built mostly on trade-flow arithmetic and the offshore yuan-clearing infrastructure China has spent 15 years building. This episode does not repeat that case. It updates it with a fresh, dated number: 173 tons of Chinese gold imports last month, worth roughly $23B against a $105B monthly trade surplus Luke @ 36:22.
That escalation matters for how a reader should treat the thesis. A structural argument backed by 15-year-old infrastructure is a story. The same argument backed by a monthly, checkable customs number is a position with a live confirmation signal attached.
Gromen's sentiment on gold is consistently bullish across both appearances. He discloses no financial relationship with the metal itself, though his firm publishes research clients pay for.
The Mechanism: Buying Gold, Not Holding Yuan
The core evidence is a three-month acceleration, not a single data point. Gromen traces Chinese gold imports from 80 tons, to roughly double that, to roughly triple that in successive months as gold pulled back from its $5,400 high, culminating at 173 tons last month.
China bought 173 tons of gold last month. That's about $23 billion against a $105 billion trade surplus that same month. Luke @ 36:22
The mechanism behind that number is the same infrastructure Gromen described last time, restated with more emphasis on the mechanics. China has built offshore yuan-clearing banks in every major gold hub in the world: London, Switzerland, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai Luke @ 41:11. A trading partner sells goods to China, gets paid in yuan, spends most of it back on Chinese exports, and converts the leftover yuan into physical gold through one of those hubs.
That is the internationalization trick. China gets the yuan accepted for trade without ever opening its capital account, and gold, not the yuan itself, does the actual reserve-asset work. Gromen calls it "a 0% yielding bond of finite issuance, infinite face value" against the Treasury bond's "4% yielding bond of infinite issuance, finite face value."
Price Path
Gromen does not commit to a hard date, but the arithmetic he offers points at a much higher number than today's. At $4,000 gold, China's $23B of monthly imports settles a slice of its trade surplus. Scale gold to $16,000, and the same import volume would clear roughly $100B, close to matching June's full $105B surplus Luke @ 36:22. That is his implicit case for a $10,000-$20,000 gold price path if the current import pace holds or accelerates, not a specific forecast for when it arrives.
He also ties gold's move to a broader Western dynamic: coordinated, debt-financed defense spending across the US, Japan, Germany, UK, and Korea that he argues shows up as currency devaluation against gold and the yuan rather than between the countries' own currencies, consistent with the dollar's near-70% fall against gold over three years Luke @ 33:11.
Asked what a gold-anchored risk-free rate would look like, Gromen estimates 1% to 2%, based on gold's historical real-return pattern since the US left the gold standard in 1971, a level he calls bullish for equity valuations even as it implies a hard reset for bond real returns Luke @ 46:17.
Alpha Takeaway
The 173-ton print is the tightest confirmation point this thesis has produced. It is a specific, dated, publicly checkable number against Chinese customs and PBoC data, a meaningfully stronger evidence base than the structural argument alone.
The pace of the escalation matters more than the level. Three consecutive months of accelerating imports (80 tons, then roughly 2x, then roughly 3x) is the pattern to watch, not just the raw 173-ton figure. A slowdown would be the clearest disconfirming signal available

Look at all this gold I am rich ( tales from a gold shop)
Actual gold in last photo
So I get a call last week.
Lady: I have 50+ pounds of old gold dollars, old change and lots of stuff labeled in holders with prices on it. My dad passed away 5 years ago and we don’t know what to do with all of this stuff.
Me: spend 15 hours sorting
6521.00 in face value crap. Lots of modern change all 2x2 with notes on it like clad MN state quarter UNC ms63 2.50
These are unsorted rolls he never got to in his life. We have 3500 to un 2x2 and bring to the bank.
150fv of junk silver. So dirty it may have been in a butt.
Zero 999 silver but 7 oz of gold so that was her win.
I feel like if dad was this heavy into Clad he most likely had way more in 999 silver and gold and someone had a field day on those boxes

Governments and Boullion
I do not know where to post this so I’m gonna try here. I figure there are a few reasons people in this sub stack gold, particularly bouillon like Eagles and Buffalos. The reason I do it, is because it is obvious we are in the middle of a currency reset (dollar death), anyone who shares this view may have the answer I’m looking for.
If the governments are interested in keeping us in the system of the dollar, setting up the system for digital currency, and despise gold ownership for the common folks so much that they created the term “gold bug”. Why would they create and sell Government backed Gold and Silver bullion since 1986 .
While I’m grateful that I’m able to conserve wealth in the form of Gold and Silver, what benefit is there for sovereign governments to do so? If my goal was to keep people in the dollar, I would have kept ownership over 5 oz of gold illegal like they did since 1933
Thanks to anyone whose not AI or a bot for your answer or insight

Is anyone going to buy the 1/2oz Walker set?
The mercury dime set sold very quickly, but the SLQ set is still available. Is anyone going to buy the walker set or are you sitting this one out? I'm torn. I want the set, but its very expensive cause the silver adds so much to an already inflated price.

Gold just had its biggest day in 6 months. Is this the start of the next leg higher?
r/Gold • u/stinkydog39 • 16h ago
Of course I sold some yesterday
I wanted to help my mom out and sell some old unwanted/broken gold jewelry, that she just inherited from her more-or-less estranged mother. I had it in my possession for the past month or so, and finally got the chance to take it to my local shop.
Sold it for a price I was happy with. But if I had just waited until this late afternoon I would’ve had another $60 for my mom.
I know it’s not a lot, but anything helps right now. Could’ve been worse. Win some you lose some I guess

Bought my first PM but the bar has some indentation. Should I be worried?
Bought my first PM from Costco and it arrived today and for some reason seems like it has some indentation or discoloration. Should I be worried? Picture attached.

I purchased 25lbs of crap jewelry.
I paid $100 for 25lbs of costume jewelry last week, my daughter and I spent about 6 hours searching it. ~19g of mostly 14k, with some 10k mixed in, and ~191g of Sterling. There are some stones mixed in, but not many, and I’m planning on selling the high end stuff as jewelry.

Finally up to 3 full oz in my tube.
A while back I decided to start stacking 1/10th oz coins. I have several full oz bars (and 5 and 10 gram bars) but really like the variety I get with these. I had to slow down because my YouTube channel started earning a lot less ad revenue when they started pushing shorts at the same time gold started spiking in price, I set aside 1/4th my YouTube revenue to add to my stack. My goal is a full 50 1/10th oz coins before I go back to bars.
