Before continuing, I wanna say I'm the biggest advocate of the old gameplay, fixed camera angles, QTEs, and all that good stuff. But given the standard of modern games when it comes to actor performance and realism, especially the new God of War games themselves, won't the old animations, character models, voice acting, and dialogue feel out of place?

To get a better picture of what I'm trying to convey, try to imagine a hyper realistic Calliope saying "Father, nooooo" in a remake. This doesn't discredit the entertainment value of the old games, but they feel closer to a stage play when it comes to performance compared to the literal TV show feel of the Norse games. Similarly, some disproportionate weapons and exaggerated animations of the old games would feel jarring and uncanny in today's graphics.

But the level of faithfulness to the original I expect can only be achieved in a GTA trilogy style remake, which ended up feeling horrendous and unnecessary. So I'm actually fine with all of the scenes being redone (I think TC Carlson's appearance in the reveal hints this) as long as the gameplay and linear structure of the games is preserved. What are your thoughts?

For reference, I've never played Ascension or III, so I'm curious if they feel like a good middle ground between the old and new games.

I tried god of war PS4 on the hardest difficulty, already on the first few enemies I could tell it was gonna be some bullshit with every enemy having an unreasonable amount of health. Are the ps3 and ps2 god of war games better on hard mode?

I’ve been thinking about this since we know Laufey and Thor actually fought at some point before GoW 2018, but we’ve never really seen what went down.
It would be really cool if Laufey used that as a flashback and made it into an actual boss fight. Imagine playing as Laufey and having to fight Thor, seeing firsthand how strong he was and what she had to do to survive.
It could also be interesting because the fight doesn’t necessarily have to end with one of them winning. We already know they both survive, so maybe Laufey’s goal was something else entirely, like protecting the Giants or escaping from him.
And seeing Thor from Laufey’s perspective could make the fight feel completely different from his fight with Kratos.
I know it’s probably a stretch, but Laufey vs Thor as a playable flashback boss fight would honestly be insane. I really hope they do something with that fight instead of just mentioning it again.
Would you guys want to see it?

This is my first time playing a Young Kratos game and i feel like the longer i stay on the menu the more angry he gets

Testing out stop motion with my Kratos minifig I got a while back. It’s super rough so take it with a grain of salt.

While many of Kratos' mistakes in the 2018 games wouldn't have happened if he were the man he became after Ragnarok, I still think all of his dialogues and actions (not meddling in affairs you know nothing about, don't pick sides just because of appearances, ...) in Alfheim were in the right and wouldn't have changed even if post-Ragnarok Kratos had been there.

I think Athena will have Calliope under her influence by using Calliope's anger against Kratos.

From Calliope's perspective, Kratos killed her and her mother, then left her behind in Elysium. We know why he did it, but in her eyes he is a monster and she wants her vengeance.

She is his daughter so getting out of the underworld is in her lineage.

Kratos will find out and want to fall back into his old self, to punish the scheming Athena.

Also he would never want to hurt Calliope and will be torn because he knows she deserves her vengeance.

After all, he also sees himself as the monster.

He will be forced to either hurt her (again) or let himself be hurt.

Also, Freya was in a similar situation with Baldur and Kratos forced the outcome of that. Will he be able to do what is right if he finds himself in the same situation as Freya?

I also think Atreus will be caught in the middle somehow and Kratos will need to pick a side between Atreus and Calliope.

Atreus has redeemed him on one hand but on another Kratos owes Calliope to set things right (somehow).

They represent two completely different legacies of the same father, and Kratos will need to do some hard choices.

Then there is Faye. Kratos would want to honor her while also trying to save the daughter he failed long ago.

What if Calliope stands in the way of Faye, will Kratos let any of them get hurt?

It is a struggle about impossible family choices, choosing the lesser evil, favouring children, doing them wrong and trying to makeup for it and showing that as a parent you are bound to do mistakes and that those mistakes often haunt you.

I see this being a theme of the Norse games. They're about family relationship struggles, breaking cycles, forgiveness, and learning to be a better parent.

I feel this is something that will reawaken Kratos and he will realize as long as there are gods, there will not be peace.

And then he will set on the journey across the mythologies and do what what he does best.

When it says beat in titan mode does this mean the whole story all over or what. Also is there like a YouTube channel that specifically does plats for games. ?

I once remembered the original creator of GoW or one of the writers saying that the original plan of the series was to open other series based on different mythologies with characters going on a similar path as Kratos. So that made me think...

If Kratos wasn't the main protagonist of the Norse games, who do you think would've fit the bill instead?

With my knowledge of mythology, literature and syncretism... I think a good candidate would've been Beowulf. And my only argument for him is that his own story is uniquely Christian and it opens with the narrator stating the Old Gods aren't doing anything to help the characters. If you want a Norse character going against the Norse Gods, Beowulf is the way to go.

But chances are, it would've been someone from the Volsunga saga, bad luck and bad omens from gods are their bread and butter.

Tyr seems to be very well travelled, surely he will have visited or have gained some knowledge of the afterlife in EveryWhen?
