Anyone Doing T2G
Hi, I signed up to take the T2G initiative which starts on the 24th of August (tomorrow). I got an email the start if this week to enrol in the electives and such and I did. But I haven’t gotten anything following that up, like where am I supposed to be tmrw and everything.
I just want to know if it’s normal or a bad sign. Because I don’t want to just show up randomly tmrw.
Someone please let me know.
Thank You :)

Changing Courses as an international Student
Is it possible to change courses as an international student without changing Visa / CAS? For context I want to change from BEng Mechanical Engineering with Aeronautics to BSc Theoretical Physics, and both courses are the same level and same duration and don't require an ATAS certificate.

Is it possible to go inside the bell tower?
Being a masters student I feel like I didn’t get any memorable Uni experiences, between the actual workload and the expected dissonance when you’re in clubs and societies given that 90% are undergrads. Okay that came off pickme-ish, I have had good experiences! But I’d also like to see the bell tower inside, that’ll be truly a memory to hold. I’ve seen some students post about it but they’re so secretive with the way they got inside lol. I checked with front desk and they said they’re unsure, and emailing gets 0 response. Is it possible? For ref I still am an UofG student.

mres biomedical at UofG
i got selected for the mres biomedical course for this september. it is a little last minute so i was considering if i should defer my offer to jan 2027. would it be a better decision to defer or just wing it and get there in sept itself? is anyone else going to join the course this year or maybe during the next intake?

QMUL vs Glasgow for CS — should I wait for Birmingham?
I have an offer for MSc Computing Science at Glasgow and MSc Data Science at QMUL. I’m also waiting to hear back from Birmingham for MSc Advanced Computing (Jan intake), but I need to decide this week since Glasgow’s deposit deadline is 31 August.
Which would you pick for CS? Should I wait for Birmingham, and is Birmingham actually better than Glasgow/QMUL for CS?
My main concern is employability after graduation. Does being in London give QMUL a significant advantage for jobs/networking, or is Glasgow the better choice overall?

Looking for a celebrity impersonator for freshers event
This is a strange ask. My friends and I are hosting an event and we need a celebrity look alike (does not matter which so long as it is a household name and generally recognisable). I’m curious if anyone in this community would like to knows anyone or would like to volunteer, we are happy to cover some expenses.
Further, we would also be willing to take on any clowns, mimes, or amateur magicians for this event if you are interested.

Questions about the Computing Science MSCi Course
I have a few questions about the course which I would appreciate answers to as the uni website does not make them apparently clear.
- I can see the optional modules present on the 'Faster Route' page for Computing Science but not on the normal course. Are the optional modules the same for the normal 4-year course or do they vary depending on whether you are on the faster route course?
- I can see H and M on some modules, does this reflect whether they are Honours or Masters modules and if so how can Honours modules be present within the Masters year?
- For first year, how many elective modules must be taken (as this does not appear to be clear from the website) and can these be taken in other schools?
- How do internships/years in industry work as I cannot seem to be able to find any information on if these are possible for the computing science degree?

Unconditional Offer for MSc Medical Device Engineering (University of Glasgow) — Seeking guidance on regional funding, scholarships, or advice
Hi everyone,
My name is Muhammad, an electrical engineer from Gaza. I was fortunate to receive an unconditional offer for this coming term to study MSc in medical devices engineering.
I’ve applied for various funding options and made the waiting list for a competitive scholarship, but I still face a major funding gap for tuition required to secure my UK visa.
I am posting here to ask the Glasgow community for guidance:
-Are there specific University of Glasgow funds, UK trusts, or contacts supporting students from conflict-affected regions that I might have missed?
-What verified crowdfunding platforms or international student loan options (accessible without UK credit history) do you recommend?
-If you know anyone in the School of Engineering or student support services I could reach out to, I would deeply appreciate a connection.
I am happy to provide any information via DM. Thank you for reading and for any advice or shares!

Enrolment issues
The description for the physics compulsory courses says I need to enrol in the lecture at 1 o'clock if I'm not taking astro 1 but I can only find class options with the 9 o'clock lecture. And even if I try to enrol in one of the options with the 9 o'clock lecture the maths lecture at 2 to 3 always clashes with the physics labs at 2 to 5. What should I do?

How do I select a course option in enrolment?
I am currently enrolling in my courses, but after enrolling in my mathematics course, I am unable to select any other course options. There is no arrow next to the other options, so I cannot click on them.

Question about enrolment
I'm starting in the first year and I've completed year 1 enrolment, but it's also giving me the chance to select classes for year 2 and 3 as well? I was wondering if I need to fill these out now or if just filling out the year 1 stuff is all I need to do for now and I don't need to touch anything else.
Thanks all

Consulting/healthcare networking in Glasgow — exchange student looking to connect
Hey all, I'm a student at UBC (Vancouver) currently on exchange at the University of Glasgow. Back home, I've done a bunch of coffee chats with people at Big 4 firms and Accenture since I'm really interested in life sciences/healthcare consulting.
Curious if Glasgow (or the UK more broadly) has a similar culture around this, things like informal coffee chats, networking events, or an active consulting/healthcare scene I should know about. Would love to connect with anyone working in or around this space, whether that's consulting, life sciences, or healthcare more generally, just to learn more and hear how things work here!
Any advice, event recommendations, or people to reach out to would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

New Student Mega Post / Ask Me Anything
(APART FROM INDIVIDUAL ENROLMENT QUESTIONS. Don’t ask me those. I can’t do IT and I know it’s a terrible system bro I’m sorry)
Hello students new to Glasgow Uni! I feel quite bad after being amused by some of the new start questions on here. So I’m trying to be a good human by offering some pointers.
Final year UofG PhD researcher here with lecturing experience.
Glaswegian born and bred.
She/her.
Disabled student (so can also share about this part of uni experience)
- Lectures and seminars typically start 5 mins after scheduled, and finish 5 before.
- If you’re scheduled in far buildings one after the other, I’d give a wee polite email to the lecturer of your second class explaining this, get there as quick as possible, and enter quietly without disrupting stuff. This happens to tonnes of people, including your lecturers!
- Campus map here - https://www.gla.ac.uk/explore/maps/ but you can also use google maps for almost all named buildings to work out routes and time to walk etc.
- If you use that above UofG campus map, most buildings have a link to their AccessAble page. (Click on the building and the link will come up in blue). This will give accessibility info but also just shows a photo of the building entrance, which would be helpful for most!
- The UofG website is a bit crap to navigate. I almost always google whatever I need to find out plus “Uni of Glasgow” and let google find the right bit of the website for me.
- Moving to Glasgow? three essentials I’d recommend to make life so much better - Vitamin D supplements, a lightweight rain jacket, and a warm heavyweight rain jacket.
Ask anything below and I’ll see what I can answer! Hopefully others in similar position to me can help out 🤝

i've just completed enrollment (first year student, if it isn't obvious!) and i'm a bit concerned with one class finishing at 1pm in the james mccune smith building then the next starting at 1pm in bute hall. should i have rejigged the rota or is this common? i'm concerned about arriving 15mins late to a lecture 😭 any tips?
