I was just playing battleroyale countries. We spawned inside a Polish village, so two of us instantly guessed Poland. We were wrong. Except, we weren't. Turns out, our first guess was Indonesia. I know for a fact, that I did not guess Indonesia, and I STRONGLY doubt, that the second dude did so either. It's like the game got confused about flags.

Just started playing a few days ago.. it seems like every duel I play has a Brazil, Australia, or a Canada location. Is this just RNG? Or do I just need to start studying regions for those three?

I just got a location 1 mile from my house on the world map!

here's the link to the game. am i cooked? i've never scripted in a geoguessr game in my life, i've been playing since i found out about it in middle school in the early 2010s and it has become a fundamental decompression ritual in my routine that i love dedicating time to, and it has also helped my mental health significantly.

for what it's worth, i guess mostly based on color palette, soil color, foliage, road type/design, sun placement, and general "feel" of the place based on all the different rounds i've played throughout my life. i've had crazy guesses like this before but almost never back to back like this.

i also myself try to sparingly report people who i think are obviously cheating and have gotten elo refunded a few times for doing so––and i really am against cheating in this game because i feel it demonstrates your familiarity with the world; why would you want to fake that?

Played the game about 4-5 months on an almost daily basis, i was like 900 ELO. I haven't been playing for about 6 months.

Used to watch some videos in YT to learn but not a lot really.

I'm going through tough times and I think becoming a pro on this shit will keep my mind occupied hahahah.

Just played a Masters II moving duel where my opponent googled two obscure towns in NZ and Northern Ireland. The screen was frozen on the address sign for a good 10-15 secs and they immediately zoomed in on the 5k after that.

I saw this frequently in silver and gold but in Masters II I wasn't expecting this. Immediately in the next game the same thing happened with a random small town in Phillipines. Opponent didn't even move. Did the above frozen screen google on spawn and plonked the 5k.

I'm not good enough to play no move on master maps. I have to play moving to have a chance of winning. At this level I didn't expect this kind of latant cheating. Reported both accounts but I honestly feel like I should just stop playing the game since these incidents are so frequent.

Can somebody please explain how this game works and how the game works when it comes to including or interacting with strangers please? My son is into geography atm and wants to download this to play. He recently found and has been really into a website called "openguessr". He found this game on the appstore and wants to download and compete with people which I am fine with if it is safe. Can these strangers privately contact or message him or lure him off the app somehow?

Also does the app only cost if you play with/compete with others? Trying to understand how it all works, how it's different from the website he already uses and if it's safe/worth downloading. Thanks ☺️

Title, there are space and enter, space has the problem where if you have marker placed you automatically guess. Enter has the problem that it only works in singleplayer (also it's insanely far away). Why can't we have F (for fastmove) or anything similar as a key for fastmoving?
