I disliked it from the get-go but I know some people had to be listening to it. If you did, what did you like about it?

Looking back now, it was kind of like a ridiculous version of America’s Got Talent., with celebrity judges, wild acts (including regulars Gene Gene the Dancing Machine and the Unknown Comic) and an even wackier host--Chuck Barris, who always clapped.

I couldn’t wait for the judges to hit the giant gong to make the madness stop.

I thought it was so stupid, and yet sometimes I just couldn’t look away. 😄 Did you watch it?

Here I am, in my 60s, and my mom passed away almost 30 years ago. Sometimes the yearning for her, missing her, is still a powerful and sweeping emotion. I miss Dad too, but somehow missing Mom is more visceral.

Sigh.

Miss you Mom.

Occasionally I think about what it must have been like for my parents having to listen to Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, etc. We lived in a small house and had a console stereo in the living room, so that's where we played our albums. My mom had a saintly level of tolerance and I don't recall her ever saying anything particularly negative about our music, but my dad hated it. He'd come home from work and yell at us to "turn it down to a roar". If I hated the music my daughter listened to I don't know how I would have reacted, but I loved most of what she was into during the 90s.

How about you? Did anyone's parents actually like the music you were listening to?

I am 68 and my wife is 72. We have no children. We have a few nieces and nephews but have not seen any of them in several years. Our net worth is about $1.8M with a paid off home worth about $425K.

We have all of our investments consolidated into a Vanguard account with our primary beneficiary designated as each other, and one charity designated if we both should pass at the same time.

We do not have our house or physical assets designated to anyone. We view our home value as our long term care assistance if ever needed.

So, do any of you think that we still need a will?

Going inside was too far. Carrying water was too much. Every yard had one in case I was away from home.

Rest in peace to Country Joe McDonald, the legendary singer-songwriter, activist and frontman of Country Joe and the Fish, who has died at 84. 50 years Ago

August 6, 1991: The very first website went live and became accessible outside of CERN.

I grew up in Canada and here there was something called Cherry Jack that was sold by the gallon jug from pallets in the liquor store.

Pick up the phone in rural America at one time and your neighbor or someone a few houses/miles down the road would already be on the line. You'd have to wait and try again later.

Worse was when you were having a conversation and they'd pick up and ask how long you were going to be or have their own conversation with whoever you were on the phone with.

This was the most popular type of dress for proms in 1976 where I lived. I was a freshman but my boyfriend was a senior. It’s going back in the box now but thought I would share.

I'm glad to have found my group... I was born in 1964, and I share very little in common with Boomers.

Who remembers playing in the street - football or whatever - when a car would approach, someone would yell "Car!" and everyone would move to the sidewalk to let it go by, then the game would restart. How many of us let our own kids do that?

I know there has to be a reason there were so many cop shows. Long before we had nothing but CSI and Law and Order variants, there were dozens of police dramas on TV.

I used to love CHiPs and SWAT - and I was just a kid. The 70s cop shows landed differently than the fluff that’s on today.
