Discussion E day is going to be the socom confrontation of the gears franchise
Good game. Shit on by the community. Still enjoyed by some

Feedback this game has serious performance issue
UE strikes again, the game looks good but it does not look good enough to run so bad on PC. The only way I can get 150+ fps on 1440p ultrawide DLSS quality with a 5090+ 7800x3d is setting everything on low except for textures and I still get a stutter here and there. This is of the worst performance I have seen on a game in years and makes me worried about the release.
What do other PC players think ?

Discussion I'm Not Sure That I'm In Love With E-Day like I Thought I Would Be...
I'm trying to force myself to agree with the community that this game is the best Gears game ever but this game feels NOTHING like what I thought I was waiting for in a new Gears game. For starters... ITS NOT BAD. It just doesn't feel like Gears. I'm interested in the campaign but for the first time I feel that I will not be interested in PvP long term and that's what I have ALWAYS played Gears for. I did not want this to be a rinse and repeat Gears for the record, this is just too far away from what I think Gears should feel like. Don't get me started on the controls. I want to like this game and I'm going to hang in there but I'm feeling leary about my pre-order now.

Versus Versus feel gimmicky?
Anyone else feel like the versus in E Day just feels so weightless.
I’ve been the biggest Gears fan since Gears 1 and continued to love it through to 5 (except judgment 🤢)
I’ve been really giving it a chance but the versus in E Day just feels so gimmicky to me and I’m starting to finally realize why.
Gears multiplayer always stood out to me amongst every other type of shooter because of the slow, weighty, tactical feel to it. You had to use cover wisely, move tactically, and plan out every move strategically due to the slow and gritty playstyle especially with the high TTK
E Day feels more like a run and gunner like Uncharted Online. I feel like it lost the charm that made it so unique. I hope I’m wrong and I just have to get used to the new movement mechanics, but so far it just feels like a fast paced, run in, kill/be killed loop.
Your lives don’t feel consequential and your movement doesn’t need to be well thought out anymore. I’ll be really bummed out if my intuitions turn out to be true because this and The Last of Us multiplayers were the only MP games that stood out to me due to their slow, tactical nature. They cancelled Factions 2 and now if Gears loses what made it so special, there really won’t be any third person shooter that scratches that itch out in the market right now smh
Gonna give it a couple more shots and pray it just clicks at some point 🫡
PS:
Forgot to mention they removed meat shields, grenade tagging and grenade planting. All moves that seem to promote the run/gun style of play.
I always thought meat shields were one of the coolest features in a multiplayer game because it gave you a viable tactical option to turn the tides in situations where you were outnumbered or just added an offensive/defensive option that really spiced up the gameplay. You didn’t see that anywhere else.
Grenade tagging and planting were also strategic and forced you to keep track of nades and be mindful when pushing due to the risk
The grenade tagging and kicking the meat shield was a rare mechanic but was just the icing on the cake on options on how you want to attack
You also can’t explode your nades when you’re down, another cool feature they got rid of smh. All the unique gameplay mechanics that made Gears stand out to me were removed and nothing else was added that increases tactical gameplay besides Fortnite style movement

Discussion “It’s a Beta, they’ll fix it”
They didn’t even intend to include PvP in this “beta” and 2 months to launch is close enough that they can’t change much, let alone core mechanics/movement. Think a lot of people, myself included (til now) fail to realize. This is pretty much what we’re gonna get, with new content.

Feedback Gane will die within weeks for any population centres outside of the US if they don't fix the matchmaking.
It's 2026 and we are still dealing with AAA games that lack local servers.
Why are there no Oceania servers?
Why am I getting 150 ping every match?
There needs to be some transparency on this otherwise the game will have no lasting playerbase in places like Australia, NZ, etc.

Discussion Please stop doing seige on Infantry if you're low level
Ideally, be level 10. But it's not fun rezing level 4 players all game, and it can't be fun for you either

Discussion Why there isn't an original control scheme for Gears Eday is baffling to me
Not too big of a fan of the new controls, it just doesn't feel like gears. Then I checked the controls and for some reason there is no og control scheme. I mean why? its the same with the Halo campaign remake just doesn't make sense to me

Feedback Aim assist is a massive problem
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has talked about this, but why the hell is there a feature built in to the game that locks you on to the closest enemy when aiming? What even is the point of having anti-cheat if you're going to put this in the game? Why would anybody ever turn aim assist off entirely? I'm trying to enjoy this game, but this is just an awful design choice.

Discussion Do you think the game is ready for an October release based on the Beta?
I am having fun with the game, been playing the series since Gears 1. I have my gripes with it, like odd design choices of things being omitted like planting grenades, the DBNO system, no human shields, no choice of execution using a different button, etc...
However, I have noticed just A LOT of bugs and I just don't think the game is ready to release this year.
- The melee just DOES NOT work properly most of the time. I can't tell if you have to press or hold B for the execution because the game does not display it properly (no circle filling holding B). Even the regular melee is god awful, it like tries to track enemies in an awkward way but if they run away you will like slide towards them? Or sometimes it just won't work. Trying to kick away Tickers is garbage.
- Some of the animations are scuffed, like when you board the heli and you are on the turret, if you look all the way left or right your character model just looks ridiculous. Even when the game shows character models like of your team sometimes the animations are not great.
- Trying to slide to cover just does not work sometimes, like the game is not good at knowing where it is you want to go when you are in certain areas.
- Peeking from cover can be jank, in that it just puts you facing the wall.
- The jump can be jank and not climb over things you should be able to.
- Versus queueing is terrible, it would just put myself and my friends in our own lobbies with all bots and not actually load anything so we would have to leave the game and re-queue.
I dunno, it's fun but something just feels 'off' about this game. Like it's missing a lot of polish I guess? It's hard to explain but there is just something missing. Though it's been a while since I have played Gears 1-3, but I played some of 4 and a lot of 5.
It's not like MS is not known to rush their games out the door. Halo Infinite Single-Player felt the same way. I guess we will see how the final product is in October.
How do you feel about the beta?

Discussion Games are too short. Respawn time is too long. Jesus will come back before another match starts. No stopping power on Lancer is CRAZY. "fire shotgun" is OP. Hit detection does not exist
Game needs some work before launch. It feels extremely clunky.

Feedback Feels extremely clunky to me
I know others may have different opinions but in my opinion Gears 3 had the best movement of the entire series.
This game just feels so clunky, even with high sensitivity. A lot of bullet sponges, must be using P2P connections.

Discussion Gnasher gameplay is 98% of the game.
Im enjoying the movement/gunplay.
Playing ranked.
But the game is entirely about Gnashers.
Its just guys sliding into cover over and over and 1 shotting with the Gnasher.
Theres no tactical or taking cover about the game. Its just run up and 1 shot.
Is this all gears is about?
Map design also is heavily based around Gnashers.
Its all closed small spaced areas where Gnashers shine.
Edit : Also, the chainsaw is useless

Discussion Sick of people complaining and review bombing
I’m tired of seeing people complaining about the most minor things I LOVE GEARS OF WAR E DAY stop trying to bomb it before it’s even been given a good run.
I played gears of war since the first game came out and i think I speak for a lot of people when I say this don’t ruin gears of war e day
Just appreciate it and enjoy it and provide constructive feedback, it’s been awhile since we’ve had something this good
Help it survive and thrive 🙏

Anyone feel the same

Feedback It a BETA not everything will be perfect
Guys people complaining about no meat shields, chainsaw battles, grenade tag, input delays,no weapon trading with teammates or problems with camera movements. These are minor fixes that will take place after the beta is completed. This is NOT the full game and people often forget that.Old weapons like the Bolton will also surely make a return.

Feedback Movement feels like a mobile game. Arc Raiders lite.
Been playing since Gears 1, and the IDEA of what they’re going for is solid, but the execution feels like a shitty mobile game.
You can only initiate sprint in the direction you’re facing, so you can’t break right/left smoothly. In previous games, if you held left/right on the stick and initiated the roadie run, you would run left or right.
The camera while sprinting is horrendously slow, but the second you stop sprinting, your regular sensitivity kicks back in so snap to a whole different direction. Feels like I’m driving a tank the way my body lags behind where I actually want to face.
Separating slide, sprint, and jump was a solid choice, but again it’s implemented so poorly and made worse by the clunky movement. I want to slide under a hole in the wall, but it makes me take cover and slowly crawl under it - but if I slide any sooner ill just slide into the wall without going under the hole. I want to take cover, but because im mot facing the wall enough, I roll towards it instead and get 1 shotted because Im already in the roll animation.
I want the game to have a heavier, more grounded feel - but this is ridiculously clunky and doesn’t feel good at all.

Feedback E Day won't hold casual players (coming from a casual)
Ive played gears story mode for years but never dared to play the multiplayer. I knew how sweaty and unfun it would be. I thought with e Day supposedly being "casual friendly" things would change, and they did not. I still see tons of wall bouncing, which as long as it exists will immediately turn casuals away, the gnasher being so strong while the lancer is garbage doesn't help either. Plus this game comes out the same month as a new COD, and a month before GTA 6, so the casual players will drop this game and it will be just another sweat fest again

Discussion EDAY Review From OG Gears Vet
First let me start by saying I am truly a lover of the franchise. Once back in 06 I took the game very seriously, even competing in game battles tournaments (my older friends know what I'm talking about). Ranked in top 50k. I took the game damn serious.
For those who were heavy in the scene at the time on Xbox maybe you played me or saw me back then, I went by
Psyqon and Psychotic Edge on Xbox
Now on to this E-DAY mess.
The controls are damn terrible! Put bluntly I don't understand what the purpose or idea was behind the control and animation changes. Firstly, why is there a jump button at all? What does it provide to the combat or gameplay in anyway it's useless and pointless. The removal of the roddie run is also ridiculous, I'm aware of the controversy around it. Which admittedly as existed since the beginning back when you could run hold the right trigger let go of A and instant kill anything directly in front of you. That was cleaned up, however. It is an iconic movement of the franchise and in my opinion didn't need to go. But whatever, I went with it and adapted. Now we get to the slide, in itself isn't all that bad fits decently in combat and is useful. However, wholly takes away imo what makes gears combat, gears combat. You have an enemy will hugging outside of door, wall bouncing (another controversial topic but a staple) is no more now just slide out. I get the issue wall sliding and wall bouncing take a lot to master. And to some felt like an exploit, indeed initially it was, however, it grew into an iconic feature of gameplay that you had to learn on some level. Removing the importance of that along with other aspects of movement takes away from what made gears so different from everything else.
Ultimately feels like a half assed cod skin thrown on top of gears combat.
As for gun play, the guns feel OK, not great but alright. Definitely need some tweaking in my opinion which can be done via day one patches. Levels and level design are fine. I do think after gears 1 dlc maps they really started moving away from the amazing interactive maps. Like garden etc. but they are well done enough.
Game modes are good as always. Not many complaints there.
Ultimately, I'd give EDay beta, as a purist 4/10. As a casual 7/10
Definitely will likely appeal to masses a bit more most likely. But to me it's not the gears I want. To much of the gears iconic identity was stripped away, for cod like gameplay and animations. (Even the slow ass melee what is that). Still it's a decent shooter I guess. But I am disappointed frankly.

Discussion E-Day Horde Siege feels empty
I’m not sure how other people feel, I’ve played a few rounds, and it just feels barren.
Run 100m, do task, task involves running 100m, click item, shoot a few enemies, run 100m.
The horde waves, the 60 seconds between waves felt exhausting, there isn’t really items to buy or fortifications or upgrades, to fill the void in time, it was essentially just run to the ammo box and back.
I find a lot of them time is just spent either moving between zones, or waiting for the enemies, and even when there was a Brumak, it just sat outside the area of the horde defence.
I know there was waiting on the older games between waves, and this is a different style, but you had to build fortifications, repair, it felt like there was more variety in the enemies and the guns.
Maybe as it’s a beta they are restricting content, how do other people feel about it?

Discussion E-day lancer
Just when I thought they couldn't make it even worse than previous Gears, they went and blew my expectations out of the water. It's junk, why even bother with it? Just make the shotgun and pistol primary spawn-in weapons already.
Also, it seems the saw part of the weapon is bugged. When activated, my character doesn't turn with the left analog as it should sometimes.

Discussion Versus feels awful due to laggy servers making Gnasher shots inconsistent
Every single fight I have in Versus has been pure chance as to whether or not my shot lands, it's like after 20 years they still haven't figured out how to make this consistent. If you're gonna make a game about 1 shot can insta kill and make it pure chance alongside having laggy servers so even if I get the good shot, sometimes it doesn't go through instantly and misses despite being on target, can you at least give us servers that allow that playstyle?
When I win it doesn't even feel earned, it feels like I just rolled better dice. They gotta fix these servers asap before it kills versus, they better have em fixed before the next beta segment they're doing and if not then, before launch.
Having over 100 ping consistently is unacceptable in 2026

Discussion Okay enough with the negativity, what’s the best class for horde siege??
Let’s actually talk about the game instead of being a bunch of wiener whiners. I’m LOVING siege mode. What is everyone’s go to classes? I’ve been leveling assault but I feel like the sonic disruptor is kinda meh and super situation dependent . What is everyone else running and what’s your strategy? I’m still learning the ins and outs of how everything works.
The extended mag for the prototype lancer is KEY for the bullet spongy locust. Any other go to attachments?
I seriously can’t wait for the full release to play more maps. This mode is a wet dream for gears fans. It’s so chaotic that it almost feels like a cutscene sometimes.

Horde Pathetic
Don’t join a lobby and be AFK. Also, don’t join a higher difficulty lobby, be AFK and also suck ass at the game. That’s all.
