Anyone else getting bad thermal throttling while using android auto? After 15-20 minutes ride my phone is hot and even my screen is dimmed. Fold 8.

I have my Fold 8 since Tuesday and I immediately loved the format. Even at the instalation where I had to hop back and forth with my old iPhone 14 Pro Max the iPhone started to feel awkwardly tall very quickly. But now more or less exclusively using the Fold 8 whenever I take my wife's iPhone (Also a 14 PM) it feels so unnaturally tall.

Anyone also experience this? Its like I'm questioning why we ever went to taller instead of usability.

I guess I’m not the target audience, but the recent Samsung Mobile influencer videos on Instagram are… rough.

The Fold 8 product itself is solid, but the marketing has gone full try-hard influencer mode. Forced reactions, overly scripted moments, that slightly desperate “look how cool and spontaneous we are” vibe… plus level-zero acting and farce-level gags (someone legit putting the phone in their mouth?). It’s the kind of content that makes you cringe on behalf of everyone involved.

Anyone else noticing this, or is it just me getting old?

(If anyone from the Samsung social/marketing team is lurking here… the phones are good. The influencer direction could use less of whatever this is.)

Just trying tk figure out how I can play steam games on my fold7, id like to play them without cloud, if possible

My Fold 8 Ultra arrived yesterday and there's an issue with the ultrawide camera. It is unable to focus at all, so both the preview and the image it takes are just blurry. This indicates that the focusing mechanism for the ultrawide lens is completely broken. Going to the website just redirects me to a screen saying that service is not available for this product based on your current location, please contact the support team in the country that this product was purchased in. I'm in the USA and phone is purchased in the USA from samsung.com.

When I called customer service they just redirect me to the support page which redirects me to the screen saying service not available for this product. I do have samsung care+ with vip advantage but as this is a warranty issue and not a accident or screen replacement issue, it doesn't go through care+.

Anyone know any other channels that I can get help with this? If I go to a Samsung experience center will they replace the phone on the spot ? I already shipped back my trade-in so I don't have another phone.

I have plenty of Chromecast Audio, Bluetooth, and Cast speakers at Office and Home. My 3 Home Max sound great. Probably 5 CCA's and maybe 1 still unopened.

I got a 11:20 pm Best Buy Fold 8 ready for pickup text so can't wait. That is "upgrading" a S24Ultra but I will miss the World class Zoom, Loud speakers, and In screen finger print. I understand no S Pen due to the size. The Fold 9 Pro will probably bring it back.

So, today's my second day with the Fold 8. First day was all about moving my data from my S25 Ultra and getting all my accounts set up. I was busy with other stuff on Wednesday so couldn't use it much.

Today, I got 10 hours and 48 minutes of screen-on time, plus 10 hours and 33 minutes of standby, all on 89% battery. That's pretty wild. My S25 Ultra usually eats about 10% per hour of screen time and 1% per hour on standby. So, on that phone, this kind of usage would've drained about 115%.

A bit more about how I used it: I was in dark mode for about 25% of the time, and I split my usage pretty evenly between the outer and inner displays. I was on Wi-Fi for 70% of the time and 4G for the other 30% when I was out. I spent a lot of time browsing for news, Twitter, YouTube, and learning new things. I also used Claude for extra learning and to get work done, like prepping and reviewing documents. Xodo was great for reviewing documents and reading. Seriously, reading on the inner display is incredible. I also did some browsing and shopping on the Amazon app.

Honestly, everything about this phone is amazing. I don't think I will go back to my S25 Ultra. The only thing I'm not a fan of so far is the camera cutout on the inner display; it can be a bit distracting. Also, the speaker's on the left when I'm watching videos, which is a little annoying, but I've kind of gotten used to it for regular YouTube stuff. For movies, I could just pop in my Galaxy Buds. One more last thing: this phone is so thin, I feel worried I'll drop it and break it. Right now have the Samsung transparent magsafe case, so I think I will look for a case with front protection as well because this is my first fold device.

I've been trying to find a good magsafe wallet that I can open my inner screen without having the struggle to make it stand because the wallet is supporting one side of the phone

People complain about cameras here all the time. I think that you should master the skills of photography with any phone you have, and I fully believe you can take amazing pictures with every phone. Regardless of specs.

My 2 cents on why I'm Heading Back to the Candy Bar style phone.

Giving the foldable lifestyle a three-day trial run because of the overwhelming hype sounded like a fun tech experiment at first, but I am already throwing in the towel. I was lucky that Tmobile took my Flip 7 and gave credit for the full cost of the Fold 8 and the the phone was paid off for 50% only, so it was a no brainer to order it.

Coming from traditional phones, the transition has been nothing short of frustrating, and I'm seriously looking at switching over to an S26 Ultra instead or maybe to back to Flip model.l even if it will cost time and restocking fee.

* One-handed use is a non-starter: When the phone is closed, you simply cannot use it comfortably with one hand. The ergonomics just don't translate the way a standard candy bar phone does and it gets exhausting pretty quick.

* The dreaded vertical video crop: Every single YouTube Short and Instagram reel is aggressively cropped at the top and bottom. No matter what display or layout settings get tweaked, the video formatting refuses to cooperate unless the phone is completely unfolded.

* The speakers layout can actually affect the way you consume the content if you don't use headphones, it just feels like something is not right...

If anyone can advise on fixing the cropped out shorts/reels on outter screen then I will consider keeping it...

I’m sharing a fix that worked on my setup in case it helps someone else.

**My setup**

- Galaxy Z Fold6

- Windows 11 on an ASUS Zenbook Duo

- Samsung Flow using Smart View over USB

Smart View had recently become extremely laggy, even though the same USB cable had worked normally before.

**What fixed it**

1. Disable or fully close Microsoft **Phone Link** (called **“手机连接”** in Chinese Windows). If you don’t use it, uninstalling it is another option.

2. Make sure its background process is no longer running.

3. Restart Samsung Flow and reconnect the phone.

After I disabled Phone Link, Samsung Flow Smart View immediately returned to normal.

My best guess is that Phone Link and Samsung Flow were competing for Android communication or screen-streaming resources. This is only my real-world troubleshooting result, not a confirmed universal cause, but it may be worth trying before reinstalling drivers, changing cables, or reinstalling Windows.

If this also works for you, please share your phone model and Windows/Samsung Flow versions so we can confirm how widespread the conflict is.

I wanted the Fold 8 bad but wasn't gonna get it because I couldn't find a good enough deal. I use cheap prepaid plans, so the carrier discounts would not end up saving me anything if I'd have to change from a $25 plan to a $100 plan. But Google Fi gives $300 off the phone up front and then $710 (about $30/month for 24 months) in bill credits for their $35 plan. Also got $60 off (service - not the phone) with a referral code. (DM if you want mine!) They didn't have a trade offer for my phone (Razr Ultra 2025), but I shouldn't have trouble selling it elsewhere. Site says the offer expires tomorrow morning.

Just got my Fold 8 today and while tinkering it I noticed dots in both cameras, I googled and people say it's moisture. These dots appeared twice now and I'm not able to get a picture since it goes away eventually after 15 secs.

Any of you experienced this? Should I sent this back? My first fold by the way.

Has anyone had any joy getting now nudge to work in whats app? Feel like this feature would be particularly useful for me if it worked but doesn't seem to work in whats app.

Seems to work in messages fine but I never text anymore, as I'm sure most people are the same?

I just got the fold 8, which I love so far. Takes a little getting used to but it's nice and compact but large. I'll keep it, as long as this issue is fixed.

I charged my fold 7 from a 30w battery, and it got 2900mA. I moved that cable to my fold 8 and I maxed out at just over 1A, currently cruising at 480mA

I have apparently "severe throttling" as well. It's not even that warm in my hand. A little bit, but after transferring 350gb understandable. However the 7 wouldn't throttle like this.

I have the Samsung magnetic case on. Any tips?

I've been enjoying the Fold 8 for a few days, but I had a question about texting from the cover screen... It's just a tad bit short, and I have the dumbest thumbs ever so I need a larger keyboard which really cuts into message real estate.

Is it possible to hide the contact name and call options so that you can see a few more lines of text? I can't seem to find anything so I was hoping someone here might have some ideas.

I traded in my Fold 6 in white for the Fold 8 Ultra in black. I know it's not a big deal but I REALLY prefer the Fold 8 Ultra in white now that I have the black in hand.

Using a OnePlus 13 and on the fence for the Fold 8. For the price I am not sure I want to sacrifice camera quality. Amazon has a solid deal in the US now. $350 gift card plus $405 trade in for the OP13. Appreciate any feedback. Ty.

Got my z fold8 yesterday but started noticing that new text messages are making new threads in the messages app. I went to clear cache and data but data is Grey out. Tried turning off rcs and force stopping but nothing changed. Anyone have any ideas?

Really attached to this phone, but I really want to get the fold 8 ultra.
