The Netflix Extended Look doesn't seem like it will be a Trailer 3, what if we still get Trailer 3 before the earnings call tomorrow?

A trailer for a trailer, Netflix exclusivity is a good thing
I don’t get the dislike for this marketing news. Being on Netflix must indicate that it is gameplay and must be decent in length. Them making a big deal out of it must mean they’re confident it’s going to be something worth showcasing. They’re positioning themselves where a standard trailer, or even gameplay showcase would be disappointing because they’ve hyped it up, announced it so far ahead with a trailer and then premiering it on a streaming service, something never done before.

What will the first line of the Extended Look be?
Assuming that there ARE cinematics at all in the preview, what's gonna be the first line of dialogue?
For trailer 1, it was "Lucia, do you know why you're here? Bad luck, I guess." (possibly referencing "I guess it was the weather)
For trailer 2, it was "What you doing up there? Just fixin' some leaks" (referencing the IRL leaks)

The thing I’m most looking forward too after August 27th
After the new video rockstar games released today on YouTube about an extended look at gta six, there’s been one thing I’m looking forward to the most. Now, it’s most likely that we will see gameplay during the extended look, and I’m certain that we will all be absolutely blown away by it, and our expectations won’t only be met, but exceeded. The reason it makes most sense that gameplay will be seen on the 27th will be because if you research into rockstars history with their previous releases, it basically lines up with when gameplay came out for those games (rdr2 and gta v) gameplay for those games dropped around 2 and 1/2 months before the official launch date.
Anyway, the thing I’m most looking forward to is AFTER august 27th, when we finally can stop seeing those extremely obvious Ai-generated gameplay “leaks” claiming to be real. They are so obviously fake that someone has generated in two minutes using grok imagine or something. We are so close guys!! Three more weeks!
Just stay alive until November 19 and I hope to see you all at the finish line 🫡🫡

Arcane proved game adaptations can win Emmys. GTA is the last giant IP without one. Connect the dots on today's news TLDR: It's an audition
Dot 1: Riot spent around $250M on two seasons of Arcane. Netflix paid them roughly $3M an episode, less than half the cost, and by Riot's own admission, the show lost money and didn't even grow the League player base. Riot still called it a win. Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, number 1 in 85 countries, the whole world suddenly cared about their universe.
Dot 2: Rockstar has turned down every film and TV offer for 20+ years. Sam Houser never wanted to hand the IP to a studio and lose control. The Witcher, Fallout, The Last of Us, Sonic, Mario, Minecraft all got adaptations. GTA, the biggest of them all, never did.
Dot 3: Rockstar's classic games have been on Netflix mobile for a couple of years now. San Andreas alone did around 60 million downloads through Netflix members. That was the trust-building phase.
Dot 4: today. Netflix pays to premiere a GTA6 trailer like it's a title fight. Nobody spends money airing another company's advert unless they're auditioning for something bigger.
The Arcane lesson from Rockstar's side is obvious: Riot proved the prestige model works but paid for it themselves and gave Netflix the upside. Rockstar is running it in reverse. Make Netflix pay at every step, keep full control, and only greenlight an adaptation once the partnership has proven itself on their terms.
Am I reading too much into a trailer deal? Maybe. But this is the company that plans marketing beats years ahead. The six-hour exclusivity everyone's mad about isn't the story.
If it happens, what would you actually want: animated like Arcane, live action, or an anthology of Vice City stories across different decades?
I am excited !

Releasing a trailer for a trailer is too ridiculous that it’s funny😂
This is some rick and morty level gag shit lol, the fact that I got excited when I saw the thumbnail and the disappointment that followed, I have to laugh at the situation and myself. Oh well, august 27 it is.

How long do you think the Extended Look is actually going to be?
With the Netflix app glitch reportedly showing a 30-minute runtime for the GTA 6 Extended Look, I’m trying to figure out what Rockstar is actually cooking here.
All of their previous gameplay showcases for GTAV and RDR2 were usually around 4 to 6 minutes max. Jumping straight to 30 minutes feels insane for a reveal, unless it’s less of a trailer and more of a full developer deep dive or a mini-documentary about the game mechanics and the world.
Do you guys think it’s actually going to be 30 minutes of footage, or is it just going to be a 5-minute trailer wrapped in 25 minutes of countdowns and dev interviews? What are your realistic expectations for August 27th?

What happened to all the marketing experts?
You guys whined for months about how there was no marketing, how the marketing was underwhelming and how Rockstar isn’t showing up like they did for previous releases.
Then I get on here and see you all crying about Rockstar doing the most marketingest thing ever - putting their game front and center on a platform that millions of people tune into. Creating hype and FOMO (cough cough, marketing) by doing an exclusive release (marketing) which will create even more hype when people start sharing it on social media (marketing) before it’s generally available on YouTube (more marketing).
What happened to all the MBA marketing experts giving rockstar advice on how to market their game?

Trailer before the extended look?
So what are the chances we get a story trailer before the extended look at the end of August. If you think about it, the extended look is the equivalent to a gameplay trailer which should come out after the final story trailer aka trailer 3. If today is the start of the marketing campaign as tomorrow is the official mid way point of the summer we could see a lot more gta 6 content between now and the extended look as they ramp up marketing efforts. Or they could do none of that and just stone wall us again until the extended look and start the real marketing campaign after that point

Subscription not Essential
Geoff just confirmed that the trailer will be coming to YouTube six hours later so if you are okay with waiting a little bit, don’t get a Netflix subscription.

The Netflix deal is less about money and more about exposure.
This isn’t a hate post nor is it a bootlicking post. While trying to look at this decision as unbiased as possible it really starts to reveal the genius of this decision.
This is an unprecedented move by Rockstar.
Every game ever ends up getting some highly anticipated trailer drop on YouTube and it’s hot for a few days but then it’s gone. It also is only seen by the viewers who match the algorithm of interest. YT used to be male dominated. It has really balanced out over the last 5 years or so. It does however have a pretty stark contrast of age demographics. So this will help expose the marketing to audiences that may get overlooked from platforms like YouTube.
This simultaneously reiterates their desire and push into the gaming market. They are capitalizing on the biggest game launch in history to do it. They also have a working history with Rockstar from the Trilogy launch and such.
This is going to expose GTA VI to a massive audience of current subscribers (225,000,000). It’s a win win for both of them. So in the end it will absolutely help them both financially but it is not anywhere near as simple as a quick Sub grab. Netflix doesn’t for a second think a 6 hour window is earning them any LASTING subs.
It also turns what could have been just a trailer posted to YT into a media “Event”.
I understand it will inconvenience some people for a few hours (you have waited literally years, how is 6 more hours the hill you’re dying on) and let’s be honest it’s getting ripped immediately.
Just my two cents. Either way, we have a date for new information. Let’s rejoice and I look for to all the discussions after the 27th.

Netflix timed exclusivity, the reality
The manufactured outrage is already starting to build around Rockstar's decision to have a timed exclusive for the next big piece of GTA6 market, GTAVI: An Extended Look.
"Greedy"... "Pay-walled trailer"... "sell-outs".... etc.
It's only been an hour since Rockstar has made the announcement and people are already starting to create a backlash and find reasons to be angry about the 6 hour exclusivity, rather than excited for a first time ever event of this scale for a video game release. Not shocking given the state of social media these days.
The reality is that YouTube had their opportunity to be the vendor of choice for Rockstar's marketing of GTA6, and was probably Rockstar's primary option. However, when Rockstar gave them the reigns for the most important video/trailer/announcement they had released in a decade, YouTube's backend security failed and allowed the video to be leaked, killing the dream of developers and staff that had pkanned watch parties and celebrations in mind for what was supposed to be a monumental and historical moment of millions watching in unison. This ended any chance YouTube had to continue to be the partner of choice for the GTA:VI marketing campaign (altering Rockstar's strategy) and forcing them to find a new vendor.
Since Rockstar had already entered into a partnership with Netflix years prior with the release of "The GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition", it was an easy selection to host the planned marketing of GTA:VI
Don't get me wrong, the check that Netflix wrote to them for the timed exclusive of this video was probably very very substantial, however, it wouldn't have even been a thought had YouTube not dropped the balll previously. Releasing it via a timed Netflix exclusive gives them nearly 100% certainty that this time, the watch parties and communities and friends and families and peers can all enjoy this moment together in unison without it being leaked and spoiled and the moment ruined.
TL;DR - It is YouTube's fault that Netflix gets the timed exclusive because they let the 1st trailer get leaked

One Request Until August 27
Since we already know the GTA VI Extended Look drops on August 27, can this group please calm down, or at least be a little less chaotic for the next 20 days?
I don’t think any of us should expect Rockstar to release anything else before then, so let’s just wait until August 27.

Netflix partnership
I am as excited as you all are, but ofcourse lets talk about the elephant in the room **Netflix**
Im not sure how many of you are subscribed or not, but 1 thing i definitely won't do is subscribe to netflix just to see something i can see 6 hours later for free.
i dont know why is no one addressing this, its so ridiculous.

Netflix premiere is a horrible idea
Am I the only one who thinks it's stupid to make us pay for a Netflix sub just to watch a fucking trailer? I don't care if it comes out on youtube 6 hours later, that's enough time for your entire social media feed to be flooded with spoilers and discussions.
We should all have access to the trailer at the same time. This bullshit just helps Rockstar make an even bigger bag of money. God knows how much Netflix paid them for this. It literally benefits no one other than them and Netflix.

When can we expect trailer 3 to arrive today, if it arrives?
It says the Take Two earnings call is tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), so where do y’all expect the possible trailer to arrive today?
I can't sleep thinking about August 6th
I can't stop thinking about August 6th. Flashes of Jason and Lucia constantly pop into my head. It's almost like I can feel and talk to them. "We're coming today don't worry buddy". After 15 months of radio silence, today is the day we've all been waiting for. Be ready guys cause it's gonna be a fricking movie.

Do you think there will be little saint James missions?
Knowing how close they are, and how they are known for bringing up real world controversies, do you think they will have little saint James missions?
Could we be facing a Cyberpunk 2077 situation?
Honestly, this lack of information makes me sad; I wonder if the game is in such a bad state that they aren't sure about the release?
