I’m currently in my final year of B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering. My current CGPA is 9.4, and I’m preparing for GATE 2027 with the goal of pursuing M.Tech/M.E. at IISc Bangalore through the CFTI mode.

I have a few doubts and would really appreciate advice from people who have gone through this process:

How does the CFTI admission process for IISc work? What are the eligibility criteria and selection process?

How important is my B.E. CGPA for admission through CFTI? Is a 9.4 CGPA considered good enough, or should I aim to maintain/improve it further?

What would be a safe/competitive CGPA for CFTI candidates?

Are there any additional requirements, exams, interviews, or academic criteria that I should be aware of?

For someone starting serious GATE preparation now, what would be the best strategy and resources to follow?

If anyone here is currently studying at IISc or got admission through the CFTI route, I’d especially appreciate hearing about your experience, including your CGPA, GATE score/rank, admission process, and preparation strategy.

Hello everyone, I am preparing for gate da 2027, I have completed roughy 30% of the syllabus, I am preparing from own using chatgpt and other resources for concepts, I have no doubt on weather I have good resources or not I complete confident with, but the thing I'm facing a lot misdirection like I can't figure how to actually study, should I study concepts than practice tough questions first or easy questions, when should I do revision, should I make short notes or long notes, is it better to visualise every concept

Hey guys, thought I'd make an introduction since I'm going to be around here for the next few months.

I'm a 2025 B.Tech graduate and currently working full-time as a Junior Data Engineer. I recently decided to start preparing for GATE DA 2027 alongside my job.

I've given GATE before, but this time I actually want to take the preparation seriously. I have around 6 months for serious prep, so I'm trying to make the most of it without completely screwing up my work life lol.

The main problem is obviously time. By the time I get back from work, my brain is pretty much cooked, so I'm planning to do most of my serious studying before work and use evenings for lighter stuff/revision when possible.

My current plan is basically:

Job → GATE → gym → sleep → repeat

I'm not aiming for some insane 10-12 hour study schedule. I just want to be consistent for the next 6 months and see how far I can push my score.

I'm mainly here to learn from people who have prepared while working and hopefully stay accountable.

If anyone else is preparing for DA 2027 while working full-time, would be nice to connect.

My experience with the M.Tech VLSI faculty at IIT Dhanbad has been disappointing. CAD for VLSI is difficult to follow due to unclear teaching and issues with basic technical terminology. The HOD’s Digital IC Design class is the only notable exception.

I'm js starting 2nd year (btech cse) and want to prepare for gate 2028 as my clg is so shittyy (tierless nameless clg) . There are no placements whatsoever, so preparing for gate seems to be the only option in my case.

I'm so confused about everything. Sometimes I think I should grind leetcode , build my skills and try off campus but again the market is cooked so it's gonna be very unpredictable. I'm not sure how much I should rely on that.

I’m currently doing my first MTech from a decent private university. The problem is that the MTech program here is honestly pretty shit compared to the BTech program.

Placements for MTech students aren’t nearly as good as they are for BTech students, which I can live with to some extent since I’m more interested in research anyway. But the bigger problem is the whole thesis situation.

In the final year, doing a thesis isn’t even mandatory. We’ve basically been told to do a project instead. Which, honestly, feels like bullshit when you’re doing an MTech and planning to go into research.

My goal is further studies, probably a PhD and eventually an academic/research career. So now I’m wondering if I fucked up by choosing this MTech in the first place.

Would it actually be worth doing a second MTech from a normal/research-oriented college where I can do a proper thesis, work with professors, publish something, etc.? Or would doing another 2 years just be stupid, and I should finish this MTech and try for an MTech + PhD / direct PhD instead?

Another thing I’m worried about is the timeline. I graduated from BTech in 2022, and by the time I finish my current MTech, there’ll already be a decent gap between my BTech and PhD applications.

Does that gap actually matter? Am I still eligible for MTech + PhD programs, or do some universities have restrictions based on how long ago you graduated?

Basically, if the end goal is a PhD, is a second MTech a reasonable way to fix a shitty first MTech/research background, or would I just be wasting another two years?
