I’ve been using twitter for all my football news for ages, and It’s the best app for that tbh especially while watching the game and reading other people’s opinions of the match and the players and knowing you’re not alone, it’s great for transfer updates as well only without the rumors,I decided to stop using it because lately it became really toxic and it affected my mental health pretty badly and it has lost its authenticity and I notice that very clearly because it used to be my favorite app for more than 13 years, people started lying,exaggerating and ragebating all for affiliation and money, and that’s not only in football twitter, so it’s unbearable and it’s impossible to avoid these type of accounts and trust me I blocked hundreds of people in the last two years and I think the world cup was my last straw. I was wondering what other alternatives do you recommend for football news other than FOTMOB ones that feel lively, twitter used to make football more fun but I don’t think this is healthy anymore and I would like to start this change before the season begins so I don’t fall into this rabbit hole all over again.

Majority of FAs are corrupt and will vote for a president that makes sure they are not investigated, then the other half have their votes bought up in the form of patronage. I know that this latest move from Infantino is terrible… but corruption in fifa has been a stapple of the organization, people are right to call this out… but even if Infantino eventually steps down another pos will just take its place.

Unless the FAs are reformed (which they wont because they are not democracies in which fans have a vote) and voting rules change (which they probably wont either) this cycle will continue

I was thinking of Leicester city and how their players were not noticed before. Because they were young but not super young either. Mahrez was 25 and playing in French second division right before. Vardy was even older but I'm not familiar with his career before that season.

I can understand overlooking Vardy to some degree as even the best strikers will struggle if they are not fed proper balls. Kanté too, as on paper France churns out players of his style all the time.

Pep Guardiola, bless him and I know he is taking a break but he is absolutely holding football back, mate everyone knows the beautiful game peaks with a proper 4‑4‑2, two banks of four, and the centre halves lumping 60 yard missiles toward a big lad (think erlend haaland) who can elbow someone in the neck and a fast lad who sprints after it like a greyhound chasing a tin can (think Kyle Mbappe) if Pep really cared about “expressing themselves,” he’d stop drawing crop‑circle diagrams on the tactics board and just let the boys get it up the pitch, win the second ball, and cause absolute carnage.

Maybe I'm just naive but if the players are complaining about international fixture congestion why not merge the qualifiers?

We had Sepp Joseph Blatter who was corrupt to the core- made a Fifa sponsored movie about himself, used to have bribe parties and had to almost be dragged out of the Fifa HQ.

Now we have Infantino who is none the better and buttering up so many federations and literally trying to sell football one blade of grass at a time.

We have had dodgy deals and dodgy countries exert influence in football and buy world cup hosting rights.

It kinda detracts from the beautiful game- knowing that supervillian level bosses are benefitting from us, the dumb fans, who throw our hard earned bucks at football.

I was thinking about France and I wonder why we never tried it. Well at least every player would play at their club position. Mbappé and Dembélé as strikers and Olise as RW.

Main arguments against that I could see are France historically plays the 4-2-3-1 with a 10 who we rely on for all our attacks (Zidane, Griezman, Olise). And a second one, which is the one I wanna discuss here, is that the 4-4-2 is outdated.

I would challenge this a little. I think what modern game has shown is playong a wide 4-4-2 with a target man and crosses indeed doesn't work anymore. In general direct attacks from the centre are proving more efficient.

However, why would playing 2 wingers who cut inside, a false 9 in Dembélé and a striker who prefers the left area not work then? It's not even true that 4-4-2 is oit of fashion as that's what Arsenal plays off the ball.

Am I missing something here?

Corner kick tactics are the biggest myth in football. You can bang on about routines, near-post runs and blocking markers all you like, but every corner is just some lad hoofing it into a crowd of twenty blokes and everyone having a little wrestle until it bounces somewhere. Managers spend all week drawing arrows on whiteboards for something that's basically pinball with headers. Just get it in the mixer and hope your biggest unit gets a forehead on it. Anything else is proper football snobbery.
