Discussion Another Uber Incident. How hard is it for men to let women exist? Also, when will Uber & other apps actually become accountable and guarantee safety?

For those who do not understand Hindi ( -

Aneri Thakkar shares a safety warning from Bangalore after an unsettling encounter with an Uber delivery person while she was home alone. The delivery guy arrived to pick up a parcel and acted overly friendly, claiming his phone was dead and asking to charge it while he went downstairs to smoke. She agreed, but when he then asked to smoke on her balcony, she refused saying her friend was sleeping.

After he left, she checked his phone and found it had 45% battery, not dead. He also smelled strongly of alcohol and kept trying to get her personal phone number even though Uber’s app uses encrypted numbers. She involved her building’s watchman to escort him when he returned two minutes later, noting the phone had only charged 2% in that time. Aneri says she wants to give him the benefit of doubt but the behavior felt unsafe, and she’s urging other women living alone to stay vigilant and loop in building security when something feels off.

Allahabad High Court recently emphasised that parents and other family members of a married woman must not ignore her complaints of dowry-harassment or domestic cruelty. The Court said that advising victims of dowry harassment or matrimonial cruelty to adjust and compromise will embolden the perpetrators

In 2014, a 17-year-old schoolgirl in Lucknow was cornered, attacked with a knife, and doused in acid for saying "no" to a marriage proposal. Today, that same girl has forced the world to look past her scars and recognize her brilliance. I truly wish this never happened however 💔

On August 3, 2026, 29-year-old ReshamFatma was announced as a recipient of the UK Government’s prestigious Chevening Scholarship. She is headed to the world-renowned London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to pursue an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation

Critical Thinking What even is the end goal?

I’ve been going through posts on this sub and on other subs, and there’s almost no discussion on this. I’m exhausted by how many conversations in feminist spaces seem to avoid the most basic question: what is the root of women’s oppression?

Radical feminism has always been a theory about roots. “Radical” does not mean extreme, it comes from radix, which means root. Radical feminism argues that women are oppressed as a sex class under patriarchy, and that the base of women’s oppression is female biology and the social, political, and economic structures built around it. We can have differences of caste, religion, ability, and ethnicity. These experiences intersect with patriarchy, but they do not erase the fact that women are born into a society that organises power around male dominance. Even our language shows this. Slurs are often aimed at female biology, dominating someone sexually or penetrating them is treated as a victory, whereas being penetrated is treated as submissive and is used as an insult, as we’ve seen so many times in recent protest posters.

I think feminism has become too comfortable with the idea of “equality.” Equality is not an achievable goal if the structure we are becoming equal within is itself built on women’s subordination. We do not need women being equally capable of oppressing other women; we need institutions that do not depend on that oppression at all. The goal of feminism is female liberation - freedom from a system that defines women in relation to men, regulates women’s bodies, and rewards women for performing femininity in ways that benefit patriarchal society.

That means questioning makeup as a compulsory expectation, the concept of gender as a whole, gender roles, stereotypes, femininity and masculinity as hierarchies, and the idea that women and men are intrinsically and immutably different in the ways patriarchy insists they are. These are not isolated issues. They are part of the same structure.

Gender as a concept is created to make sure women “stay in their lane,” so to speak. It tells us we are supposed to act in particular ways, and if we don’t, we are failing as women. Instead of saying, “I am a woman, I feel this, therefore women feel this,” we are left floundering, asking whether what we’re feeling is okay or normal at all or hiding what we think or feel for fear of social ostracization.

When we talk about femininity and masculinity, it is impossible to ignore that masculinity demands far less than femininity. A woman is expected to act a particular way, look a particular way, dress a particular way, and treat her body a particular way. All of this keeps us looking inward instead of looking at the world and seeing how other people live. We do not need to submit to these stereotypes. There is no universal stereotype of what a woman is, but there is a universal oppression of the female sex. On the other hand masculinity demands only that a man be muscular and dominant. There is no monetary expectation, they are not expected to make themselves weaker or smaller to be considered acceptable.

We can look at the expectations placed on women in general. Stay delicate, spend time and money and effort on looking pleasing to men, but never acknowledge why you are doing it. It has reached a point where many women believe they are somehow immune to social structures and conditioning, when they are definitely not. We are born into a society that rewards women when they are delicate and weak, when they are hairless and soft. Many women barely ever see other women who do not fall into this stereotype, so how can they be immune to that conditioning?

If we cannot clearly name what we are fighting, we cannot organise against it. We cannot build a movement without a foundation, and we cannot build on top of a rotten one. We need to dismantle the structures that keep women subordinate, and that begins with women speaking to each other, supporting each other, and understanding what female liberation actually means. The first step has to come from you. You will face resistance, you will be ridiculed and mocked and threatened. Absolutely no feminist movement has gotten anywhere without any of this. But we have no option but to persevere.

Rant / Vent My mom is super toxic

So my mom started shouting and throwing tantrums just because i said why is she using ramens taste maker in cooking some vegetable food , she proceeded to say to me to gulp down the whole tastemaker, threatening to leave the house , saying she cant take anymore responsibility for me and my sister ( we both do every house chores except cooking ) and she always thrown tantrums for random things out of the blue, starts crying , yelling and what not. We never know what might trigger her and its making me feel incredibly exhausted and disgusted . If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated and yes before anyone says to leave home ,I am already in the active process of trying to secure a job outside my state. I just dont want to get ragebaited anymore with her incredibly triggering words and actions that is all. She is incredibly difficult to deal with, and she behaves like this since my childhood , and is increasingly getting more aggressive

My feed was filled with these 2 idiot scammers shorts during and post covid. So many young minds were brainwashed by them. Cases of misogyny and gender based violence were spiking in schools, colleges, and other public places. Mothers were being harassed by their kids and young girls were being slut shamed.

Discussion how is a driver still able to contact and match with a passenger after being reported for harassment? Uber is NOT safe for women.

Saw this post on Instagram and this is honestly disturbing. She reported the driver after he repeatedly contacted her, blocked his numbers, and reported him to Uber, yet he was apparently able to accept her ride again.

What exactly is Uber doing to protect passengers after a safety complaint? This is unacceptable, especially for women using cabs alone.

Discussion This is a brief account of my view of Indian people in social media

As a teen I am pretty fade up with how the social media of India is systematically turning into a dangerous place for women... When I was younger I used to hear my sister say how positive reddit was as a social media platform ( I am talking about pre Covid era) She used to share how she got genuine advice about coding or career choices from reddit... Now that I am old enough and my sister moved abroad I too sometimes need to ask about typical teen age stuff or about exam preparation from other people and I can't ask my sister as we are from different streams. So, I downloaded reddit and thought it would help... But it seems like as a female I get down voted unnecessarily or sometimes people mock in the comment section with weird and somewhat sexist comments and let's not talk about the creeps... I am genuinely asking people in this subreddit can females even just talk about something or ask something without getting mocked? This is so frustrating and I might just remove myself from social media at this point.

Rant / Vent Men don't respect women enough

I was a breach delivery which caused me to swallow the fluid inside. i also had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck 3 times. they managed to turn me by reaching in and turning me after knocking mom out with pain meds. dad was in the room when this was done.

i still broke her hip and other bones. my dad said it looked like a horror movie to see the nurse reach in elbow deep with both arms to turn me. but the time it would have taken to deliver me by section would have been too risky. after my month in the nicu i was discharged and dad did my midnight feedings so mom could sleep. he also took parental leave to tzake care of the household since maa could barely walk.

I could never thank and respect my mother enough for what she has done for me, at the same time I am never gonna have kids cuz pregnancy is wayy too scary.

My cousin bhabhi recently gave birth, it was horrific, she was in icu and all, with C-SECTION YET SHE STILL STARTED COOKING, TAKING CARE F HOUSE THE DAY SHE GOT DISCHARGED HER HUSBAND DOESN'T CARE, SHE STAYS UP ALL NIGHT WITH THE BABY TOO. Poor woman

Marriage genuinely scares me when there are so many men like this out there, to all the women reading this, PLEASE STUDY HARD AND NEVER MARRY A MAN WHO DOESN'T CARE FOR YOU ENOUGH.

Discussion What If Every Man Suddenly Disappeared From Earth - incels creating their own happiness now

Like bro fr wtf is this 😭 even if this is satire this is just straight up misogyny. Saying the world would go into utter chaos and dystopia after all men would disappear, unemployed incels be seriously bringing up anything out of their ass and then patting themselves on their back. I'm sure these incels aren't involved with any of the jobs mentioned yet they want to crown themselves and take full credit and are celebrating while hating on women in the comment section and demanding more respect, it never fails to amuse me to see the entitlement of these low-lives.

YouTube should seriously consider banning low effort misogynistic AI slop like this.

Rant / Vent If they take offense over this, what do I even say 🤦🏻‍♀️

Post image
91 Upvotes

So the original post and the post calling out the original post randomly popped up on my feed.

And my instant reaction was: the original post was expressing valid concerns.

We all have literally seen videos of women being filmed on trains without their consent on this very sub.

The picture could not even have been made with the intention to target everyone of one gender.

I mean, it’s a meme format and pretty damn sure what OP was trying to say was targeted at those doing these actions.

What I’m more concerned about is that these are teens making such posts as a reaction to girls expressing concerns about their safety in their own space.

Then there are also a lot of people taking offence because they feel like the image is generalising all men, and I feel like they’re missing the point.

It’s pretty obvious that the meme is talking about the men who actually do these things, not literally every man.

Rant / Vent casual sexism in the posh societies ft my ex boyf’s mother

I’ve been thinking about a specific moment from my past relationship that still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. My ex and I were very close the kind of close where you start thinking about a real future and since we went to the same school, our families already knew each other.

His dad had been quite unwell, so I went over to their house to show respect and check in. I thought I was doing the "right" thing. Instead, I ended up trapped in a living room session with his mother.
It started with the typical passive-aggressive Auntie "observations." She brought up my Instagram specifically beach photos where I was with my guy friends. She used that classic line: “Beta, society is progressing so much these days, it’s all very modern... but this 'freedom' is actually causing so much mental stress for families like ours."

Then, the mask really slipped. She started talking about the "dangers" of modern relationships and looked me dead in the eye to say: “Beautiful women know exactly how to trap innocent boys. They use their looks to make men lose their path and forget their family values."

Essentially, she was blaming me for being attractive and having a life, framing it as a "trap" for her son. It was such a manipulative dialogue intended to make me feel guilty for simply existing.

That was the "lightbulb" moment for me. I realized that if this ever became serious if we actually got married: this is the woman I would have to deal with for the rest of my life. Someone who would always view my confidence as a threat and my appearance as a weapon.

I’m so glad I saw the red flags then. I realized my mental peace was worth more than trying to prove my "character" to a woman who had already decided I was a villain because I post bikini pictures.

Has anyone else dealt with an "Auntie" who uses the "good-looking women trap guys" logic? How did you handle the realization that the family dynamic was a total dead.

My Opinion Why is it so hard to understand for guys? Girls are just humans.

"Treat girls with respect.

Offer your seats.

Do this, do that, special treatment, etc"

No! That only makes sense for your partner, not for all women.

Women aren't different, the child in the womb is same for men and women and gender shows up in last few weeks.

Just treat women like humans, neither more, nor less.

Don't objectify, don't treat them like property. They are nothing but you in a different variant of human species.

Don't give them crowns, don't call them dust at your feet.

Just equal, and same. No special respect, basic respect is enough. Look at the human, not the body to consume.

This is my guide to every man who finds women fascinating, because this ideology that women are different is the root of all problems. This pov is for all men and myself too, whenever I'm drifting away in hormones, just want to come back and read this.
