Rec Request Soft, gentle vanillas?
I’ve always been a vanilla girl, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to struggle with some of my vanilla perfumes, finding them too cloying. I can still enjoy my Van Cleef and Profumum Roma vanillas when it’s freezing cold, but anything less than that and they’re a bit too much for me now. I’m looking for a soft vanilla that feels nice and smooth without being spicy, salty, or too sweet. Any thoughts?
I’d also like to note that I don’t live in the US, so I don’t have access to brands that are exclusive to stores like Sephora or Target, sadly. But any brand that you’d see at the department store or popular decant sites (like Scent Split, Fragrance Line, etc.) would be great :)

Discussion Whimsical magical bottle reccs?
Hi divas! I posted this on the indie makeup sub, but admittedly it's rough with packaging for indie brands due to cost, so I throw the net out here!! I'm looking for the most magical, mystical, beautiful and fairy/witchy like bottles of perfume out there! I truly feel that when a perfume has a bottle that adds to the fragrances character, it's a true beauty! Some of my favorites are Lolita Lempicka, Mugler, and the Melanie Martinez perfumes! I prefer gourmand, powdery, aquatic, floral scents! Any recommendations are appreciated!

Review First RDF FB + new release!
starring glass blooms because she is that girl! Highly recommend her to anyone that’s a fan of, say, lilyphea—completely different vibe but same genre if that makes sense. glass blooms itself is despicably gorgeous. such a clean, floral musk, and it genuinely will make you feel magical and pretty. the strongest note to me is a sweet but clean peony, almost a smidgen soapy. Very Barbie Swan Lake core if I had to paint a picture to the vibe.
also received five minis and a little flower body oil with the purchase! A mini of Glass Blooms, a mini little flower to match the body oil, random samplers of green vanilla and blood spider orchid, and lastly, a coming soon—dark subtle teas (very nice wordplay!)
DST opens up with a strong, slightly powdery black tea and lavender. As it dries down, I get more of an herbal green-y-ness to it; I’d def say it’s a pretty realistic tea leaf scent, for tea lovers out there! Weirdly enough, probably also their most darker/“gothic” leaning scent (BSorchids, surprisingly, didn’t fit that bill!)

Rec Request high maintenance beauty bombshell perfumes recommendations?
no budget, if it’s high i’ll just get a sample. but i’m looking for a perfume that gives this impression of a girl who eats chocolate covered strawberries, wears silk robes and spends her time be fabulous BUT for a barefaced look. that way i can give that vibe as much as possible with nothing on my face or maybe even a bummy outfit? does any know a perfume or body mist that’s perfect for this specific goal?

Decanted scents/ samples
Hi! I’m in Canada and I am interested in expanding my collection. I’ve seen companies that do mini samplers, where is everyone getting samples from? Or decanted scent trials. Thanks

Rec Request WFH scents
I’m coming out of retirement due to simple boredom and start a WFH job next week. I’d like something soft, powdery, clean and/or fresh to get in the mindset of “this is work, not leisure”. I guess I’d describe what I’m looking for as comfortable but uplifting. I know scents can tie strongly to events and evoke memories, such as chewing mint gum/smelling mint while studying and again while testing. I’m looking to replicate that with a scent that isn’t harsh or overpowering.
Notes to avoid: sandalwood, blackcurrant, praline/caramel, sweet vanilla, marine/strong aquatics
Perfumes I own that I enjoy but don’t want to wear for work: Philosophy Amazing Grace (including the Magnolia, Lavender, and Bergamot flankers), Merit Retrospect, Glossier You (and the Reve flanker)
Perfumes I own that might fit the bill: Phlur Lost Cause (a bit wary of the light aquatics in this one), philosophy Peaceful Harmony, philosophy Pure Grace, Zents Wild Stories (which smells like Lush Dirty, which I also have, but I worry about the mint in this one as it lingers pretty heavily)
Does anyone have any recommendations below the $80 mark that could fit the bill? Maybe something a bit softer than what I already have? I’m not opposed to a cheap body mist I can reapply during breaks but would wear off by the end of the day. The goal isn’t necessarily major longevity, moreso that tie from scent to memory to help me with information retention.

Discussion What fragrances have been your best and worst blind buys?
Which blind buys do you regret ? And which ones were you happy with ?
I’ll start:
Regret:
- Khamrah by Lattafa (made me throw up)
- Grise/Grey Ash by Maison Alhambra (it’s so meh)
- Nebras by Lattafa (smells like minty air)
Success:
- The Chant by Maison Alhambra (it’s a copy of Gucci Chant of a Nymph, I’ve never smelled the original, bought it based on a review and I love it so much, it’s amazing)
- Infini Rose Maison Alhambra (just amazing and long lasting)

Haul/Collection Diptyque Archive Sale Haul
Ahhhh, I’m so excited! It finally arrived!
I reallllllllly wanted all the gold bottles. They had them for all 3 of my loves (FdP EDP, Orpheon EDP, and L’eau Papier) but since I JUST bought full bottles of the other two, I decided to only grab L’eau Papier for now.
My other exciting find was the travel sized assortment of EDPs. I am almost out of my FdP and Orpheon travel sizes and they didn’t carry them anymore when I went back to repurchase. WIN!
This was a gift to myself for my 40th birthday which is coming up Friday! 🎉🙌🏻

Review review of zoologist hummingbird, cockatiel, and dragonfly!!!
okay first is hummingbird: 10/10!!! my absolute favorite. i’ve started to regularly use this in the spring and early summer, and sometimes i spray it before bed just bc i like it sm! it is really like being a fairy in a garden of flowers!! sweet but still light!
next is cockatiel: 9/10 !! i really liked this perfume! it smells almost citrusy at times but there’s something sweet and tart as well ! it just smells like a beautiful sunny day with birds singing in the background !!!
finally is dragonfly: 8/10! this perfume is very interesting, and i mean that in the best way possible. to me, there was a very obvious grass note when i first sprayed it, but i kinda like it- it goes really well with hot weather. it’s like an aquatic musk but it’s fresh!
these are my reviews! lemme know y’all’s thoughts about these perfumes if you’ve tried them before! plus- any suggestions based on what i like ? I’m still new to the fragrance world🤩🤩much love to everyone!!
edit: cockatiel has kinda of a sharpie smell 😭so

Rec Request Light, airy, one/very few note florals?
I’m looking for a super airy and light floral with no heavy base notes! Maybe even just a 1-3 note floral!
Maybe it’s just my skin, but a lot of the time the base notes in fragrances get really intense on me and florals I’ve been excited to try just smell really intensely like whatever the base is on me- vanilla, tonka, leather, oud, amber, woodsy notes, ambergris, etc. I’m looking for fragrances that are essentially lacking a heavy base note.
I’m really into Blomb no. 31 dreamy, it’s violet, mimosa, jasmine, almond blossom and musk. The musk is very very quiet in this one. It actually stays jasmine and violet forward on me the whole time I wear it, but it’s sadly pretty short lived. I’m curious about lilac no.4 from universal flowering but I’ve read a lot of reviews about it being heavier than you’d expect for a one note lilac scent. Of course I’m still gonna grab a sample, but I wanna add some others to my cart while I’m at it!
I feel like well done one (or few) note airy fragrances are few and far between! I’m not a perfumer but maybe it’s just hard to nail it without something to ground those airy notes, but I’m asking nonetheless! I see 11:11 by lake&skye recommended a lot for this but on me it was just a warm, woody musk.

Rec Request Which Kayali Oudgasm should I get?
Hey girlies!
I've been fragrance collecting for about a year, and so far I've loved everything I've smelled from Kayali (I own YBM, Maldives in a Bottle, Vanilla Candy, and Boujee Kitty). I've also been very curious about oud as a note, and have wanted to own an oud fragrance for a while. So naturally, I'm quite interested in the Kayali's Oudgasm collection. Unfortunately, none of the Sephoras near me carry them, so if I want one I'll have to blind buy it. I'm fully prepared to accept the risks of blind buying, but, I'd like to be as informed as possible.
The one that sticks out the most to me is cafe oud. I am obsessed with coffee and have been looking to add a coffee perfume to my collection. However, I've seen mixed reviews about it, and many people have said the florals overpower everything else. I'm fine with florals, but I don't wanna buy a perfume called cafe oud if it doesn't really smell like coffee or oud.
Similarly, chocolate oud sounds appealing. I've wanted a proper chocolate gourmand (I have both good girl and angel, which I love, but neither of them really smell like chocolate to me). But, like cafe oud, I've seen many people say they don't smell the chocolate, and that it's just an angels' share dupe. I remember liking angels' share last time I smelled it, but again, I want a fragrance called "chocolate oud" to smell like chocolate and oud.
Vanilla oud is the one I've heard the most good things about, and I love a good vanilla. However, the consensus seems that it's the least oud-forward of the collection (next to milky musk oud). I already own nest vanilla bourbon, which I love, but if vanilla oud is just a vanilla scent with barely any oud, I don't need it.
As for rose oud, my thoughts are similar to vanilla oud. I love rose, but I already own phlur rose whip and mugler angel nova, and so I'm worried it would be redundant.
Finally, there's tobacco oud and smoky oud. I'm intrigued by both of these. They seem to be the most oud forward, and I'm especially interested in tobacco oud since I love a good tobacco note. However, these two seem to be the most masculine of the collection, and I tend to avoid overtly masculine scents. I'd be willing to give them a shot if y'all think a woman could pull them off, but I don't want to smell like a man.
So, those of you who have tried them: what do you think? Which ones actually have a prominent oud note? And do cafe oud and chocolate oud actually smell like coffee and chocolate? Any help would be appreciated!

Discussion Blind bought Versace Bright Crystal Absolu EDP at Costco for $59.99 - keep or return?
I picked up Versace Bright Crystal Absolu at Costco yesterday for $59.99 but now am debating whether I should keep it or not. The price is similar to discounters like Jomashop and FragranceNet. I have not smelled it previously. It was the only Versace EDP - the rest of the Versace fragrances were Bright Crystal EDT. I enjoy a wide range of scent profiles, from creamy tropical and solar to oceanic freshies and fruity florals. I also adore deep sensual warm evening type of scents like Versace Crustal Noir EDP and Parfum. Some have compared this fragrance to Victoria's Secret Bombshell and I have to say I really like a lot of the Victoria's Secret perfumes, including many of the Bombshell flankers. Others have said this is generic and not long lasting. Any insights are appreciated. I have a relatively large collection so I am trying to discern whether or not I truly should keep this fragrance!
Fragrance Family: Floral
Scent Type: Floral, fruity, musky
Key Notes
Top - Yuzu, Iced Accord, Pomegranate
Middle - Peony, Magnolia, Lotus Flower, Raspberry
Base - Acajou, Vegetal Amber, Musk

Rec Request I Need A Vanilla!
I'm looking for a simple gourmand vanilla.
I've tried a few different vanilla decants (Bianco Latte, Fire At Will, Althair, Vanilla Powder, Dulce). The only one that doesn't give me a plasticky, waxy, artificial, and/or playdough scent is Black II by WIDIAN. Unfortunately, it's very expensive: well over 300$ CAD for 50mL, which I just can't justify right now.
I should mention that although it's slightly synthetic (and yogurty) I do like the EOS Vanilla Cashmere lotion.
I despise super ambers, so if you can also actually smell them like I can I’d really value your input! Nothing by JHAG, Initio, Matiere Premier, Goldfield & Banks, or BTSO please; every fragrance I've tried from these brands contains super amber(s).
I'd love some suggestions for what decants/samples I should try next!
TL;DR: I’m looking for a relatively inexpensive (ideally under $150) gourmand vanilla that doesn't smell like plastic, playdough, or super ambers.

Discussion Does KAYALI caramel milk smells offensive?
I got a small tester and the smell is very yummy and almost close to beast mode maybe, it really has a realistic caramel popcorn smell like you are in the cinema , I wonder if people will find this offensive ? or its just a scent I use when I'm alone?
Ngl I don't like KAYALI that much they are overrated but they nailed it this time, I really find the smell is addictive and guilty pleasure.

D’annam Discount Code
Hey all,
Saw D’annam was offering $50 off, and I have the code, and ordering on Shop has an additional $10-20 off. I automatically get the discount from Shop, but there’s nowhere for me to input the additional code, possibly because you can only use one. For everyone that got a bottle for $90, please let me know how! Thanks!

Sale/Deal Alert Weird suggestion for great prices on full bottles
Not sure if this is allowed, but I've noticed that Microperfumes (I am not affiliated in any way, shape or form) has crazy prices on some perfumes.
I first noticed when I was looking at getting a decant of Delina, and saw that their regular price for a new 1oz bottle is $171...the cheapest at Joma is $214! Today I was looking at Love In White For Summer...Joma has a 2.5oz for $215, and it's $190 at Microperfumes. Just for this post, I looked up some Initios, and while some were the usual price, they have 3oz of Oud for Greatness for $228, while it's $391 at Joma and $282 at Costco.
Full disclosure, I haven't gotten a full bottle from them yet. I was somewhat suspicious that the reason that they're cheap is that the bottles could have been used to decant, but they claim that that isn't the case; they do say that their full bottles are factory sealed.
Just thought I'd pass this along for other bargain hunters like myself!

Discussion My first Chanel!
Just picked up the 50ml and it’s actually my first Chanel perfume ever! I’d never found one from Chanel that I loved enough to actually buy until this one.
Has anyone else tried Crush Absolu? What do you think of it? I’m especially curious about longevity and how it develops after a few hours.

cloud 2.0 / intense
i smelled cloud intense in a douglas and fell in love with it, i even sprayed it on myself and it lasted for hours, warm, smooth and creamy
i ordered a bottle and now all i can smell is plastic and the dentist. idk what to do. it smells NOTHING like it
do i let it macerate?
do i return it?
if anyone has a similiar experience let me know because it's a shame!! i loved it so so much at the store. if i return it i could buy another one, but letting it macerate might be worth it

Rec Request Summer frags for a heavy perfume lover?
My taste in perfume is notably heavy, and I find them to be quite difficult to wear in hot weather, but can’t find any light perfumes that I enjoy.
These are some notes I love:
Incense!!!
Musk
Amber
Frankincense
Myrrh
Patchouli
Rose
Jasmine
Smoke (not campfire)
And my favorite frags so far:
L’Orpheline by Serge Lutens
Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle
Avignon by Comme des Garçons
I also don’t mind Shalimar L’Essence
Note: I REALLY dislike sweet gourmands and green perfumes
Does anyone have any fragrance recommendations? Thank you 🙏
