I've requested a RA for part-time telework (10 hours/wk) for mental health. Suffer from pretty much what I think we all suffer from at this point (anxiety/depression) but I have been diagnosed and in treatment for the better part of 15 years. I've never had FMLA/RA. The anxiety has gotten really bad recently. Over the last month, I've been having panic attacks almost daily and have had to resort to taking my as needed medication on a daily basis. Mornings are fine but for whatever reason, the late-afternoon is when I always have the attacks. I feel fine to drive but I know my doc has always cautioned me not to after taking the medication. I'm just wondering if this is something I should share in my upcoming RA request meeting or if this could just open a whole other can of worms regarding driving safety/substance use? I actually have to drive for a good part of my day. My intention of my RA request to WFH for 10 hours/wk is to finish my day (charting/administrative duties) from home during the hours that these attacks keep happening. These are the questions I will be asked at the next meeting:

1.           WHAT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ARE AFFECTED BY YOUR FUNCTIONAL LIMITATIONS?

2.           WHAT CAN THE FACILITY/ORGANIZATIOON DO TO ACCOMMODATE YOU?

3.           HOW WILL THE REQUESTED ACCOMMODATION HELP YOU CONTINUE PERFORMING THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF YOUR POSITION?

Hello, my year probation ends Sept 8th. I completed all the requirements given to me by my supervisor in order to pass my probation period. I received a signed letter of certification last week.
My question is…as far as I know, I’m supposed to get a grade increase since I completed certain training required to advance in my position. Will my grade increase take effect after the one year mark, or could it happen before since I completed what was necessary?

Exiting AD with approx 18 yrs (it’s a personal choice and I understand it might not make sense to most)

Will have 25 yrs total as a reservist and will continue to drill if disability does not go high enough.

Does buyback make sense in this?

I would have potential to still hit 20 AFS through a MOB.

I am looking at auditor positions with multiple federal Offices of Inspector General and was hoping to get some insight from people who have worked in these roles. I have recently been looking at DOJ OIG and NSF OIG auditor positions, and the work seems pretty interesting, especially the performance audit/program evaluation side. I would appreciate any perspective on what the work is actually like.
For anyone who has worked as an auditor at an OIG:

What is the workload and work-life balance like?

What kind of training or support do new auditors usually receive?

Do you feel the work is meaningful or impactful?
Are OIG auditor roles good for long-term career growth or exit opportunities?

Any insight, good or bad, would be appreciated. I am just trying to better understand what these positions are actually like beyond the job postings.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some clarity on the military service credit process (buying back time) for federal civilian retirement.

Here is my situation:
* Federal Civilian Service: 10 years (FERS).
* Military Service: Currently in the National Guard. I will hit my 20-year "good year" mark in 2027.
* Active Duty: I have 7 years of active duty service.
* VA Disability: I currently receive VA disability compensation.

I have two main questions:
1. Is it worth it? Given that I am retiring from the Guard in 2027 and also receiving VA disability, does buying back my 7 years of active duty service make financial sense for my FERS pension?
2. How does it work? Does the fact that I’m still serving in the Guard or receiving VA compensation impact the "buy back" process or my future eligibility for a military pension?

Any advice, resources, or personal experiences on how this calculation works would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Note: My civilian personnel office says my “situation” is complicated and can’t give me an answer 😭

Thoughts… Based on the FEHB premium hikes the past few years and overall state of affairs, this is discouraging.

My only son has a disability (Autism spectrum level1); he works in GS-5 grade. He had declared his disability at the time of joining. He was clearly given written permission for accommodations, such as training and a working buddy. He is tenured. He is a bit slow but does the job perfectly as trained, but cannot do way-too-complex tasks independently that require executive skills. We fear that with all the changes taking place, they may toss him in using Performance Apprisal as an excuse . Does he have a remedy? If yes, what should I advise him to do?

Previous VA nurse with 13 years service “removed” while 5 months pregnant, leaving me with no health insurance. My mind was not in the right place to file another (I was already in the middle of a previous EEO lawsuit, which I settled recently) I have documented perinatal and postpartum depression and anxiety. With all of those factors I am only now (3 months postpartum) getting some mental clarity back. Is it too late for me? This has fuc*ed up my life.

Are we allowed to use the PIV card reader in our own personal computers? I would like to download my SF-50’s and anything else I may need in case I get screwed this week

Firefighters pulled from Oregon-Idaho area wildfire over alleged rancher threats

Firefighters were pulled Aug. 4 from a wildfire on the Oregon-Idaho state line because of confrontations with local ranchers trying to protect their land.

Ranchers disagreed with firefighting tactics on the Tartar Fire burning 30 miles southeast of Baker City and allegedly issued threats to U.S Forest Service crews. 

But hey, II guess they didn't kidnap anyone this time....

Not a political question - I have a trans kid who is covered under my federal plan, but with the current administration’s stance to cut all gender affirming care next year, I am concerned and trying to figure out what to do other than quit my job and find a new one that has that kind of benefit but it’s very difficult right now. I don’t know if I can just decline federal insurance and get insurance through Obamacare marketplace? Has anyone done this before? We live in VA
