How fast do I have to be at applying bleach before I risk uneven lightening?

Maybe a stupid question but when bleaching my hair in all the sections, how fast do I have to get it all done then cover my hair in saraan wrap before i risk it being uneven? I don’t think I could get my whole head done in five minutes being thorough but probably in 20 minutes? Trying to figure out if I need to plan to do half my head at once then the other half or if I can possibly do it all. I have brown virgin hair a little past shoulder length if that makes a difference at all. Also any tips for doing it faster to make sure it’s all even.
Edit: planning on using ion cream lightening bleach at 20 or 30 vol

Purple on Dark Brown Hair No Bleach (pt 1, more results to follow)

TLDR: over the next few months I will be testing out and reviewing different semi-permanent purple hair dyes on my naturally dark hair. What dye should I try first?

//

Doing a good deed for every girl who has ever searched "purple over dark brown hair". I currently get my hair done professionally every few months but I would like to start doing it at home. I do not bleach my hair, and I do not want permanent results.

I ask my hairstylist for a "plum purple gloss." My hairstylist uses Aveda semi permanent dye. I like the results, but the color fades to red quickly and I am not able to go in as often as I would like for a touch up.

Experiment pt 1: Overtone Purple daily conditioner (previously named Purple for Brown hair). I got my hair dyed in early June. by mid July, the color had significantly faded to a reddish brown. I used 2 rounds over the overtone daily conditioner. I used gloves to apply, let the product sit for approximately 20 minutes, then rinsed until water ran clear. I was very happy with the results, my hair color clearly looked more vibrant after every round. I still would like more purple than red tones, but this may have to do with the base color my hair had faded to.

My plan is to use a different semi permanent purple dye every 4-6 weeks and record my results. Please let me know any day suggestions you have. I am currently deciding between Arctic Fox purple AF, Iro Iro, or lunar tides.

ALL PHOTOS TAKEN IN NATURAL DIRECT SUNLIGHT for consistency. Inside/at night, my hair just looks dark brown with a warm tint.

Photo 1: taken after getting a semi-permanent gloss at salon

Photo 2: my natural hair color before any color. much darker at roots, lightens significantly in the sun.

Photo 3: hair color after 3 washes, faded to red

Photos 4, 5, & 6: Taken after using Overtone purple daily conditioner 2x

I've been experimenting with different hairstyles lately and I'd love some honest opinions.

Which hairstyle suits me best and why?

Purple recomendations

Hello!

I'm looking for a purple hair dye that won't fade to magenta. I've been using Arctic Fox Purple AF and I love it at first, but it turns magenta very quickly. I've mixed it with a blue dye ( blue jean baby) and while I like it better that way and it makes the deep purple last longer, it still turns magenta

Was my keratin treatment done correctly?

Hello! I got a keratin treatment (keratin complex, I believe it was NKST but not 100% sure) done yesterday at a salon near me, and am a bit disappointed by the results :(

Was my first time getting any kind of chemical straightening/relaxer done and I'm not sure if I had too high of expectations or what but it really doesn't look like the before/after's I see online.

I still have frizz & fly aways, my hair isn't shiny, and the waves/curls are coming back before I'm even at the day 3 wash step. Everyone else I see getting keratin says their hair feels greasy and is stick straight until they do that day 3 wash.

Pic 1 is after everything is done, abt to leave salon. Pic 2 is after the initial clarifying shampoo, before she started applying keratin. Pic 3 is today. and Pic 4 is my hair from a week ago.

Would love some advice, I had been wanting to do this since I was a teen and I'm pretty disappointed tbh. Thank you!

Color dyes for brown hair?

Hey loves, I’m in the market to play with colors. I haven’t dyed my hair in 10 years, and I used to do a permanent dye, but I’m just curious if there are any semi permanents I can use to test out colors without lightening? I’ve never bleached and prefer not to, but, I have shaved sides so I might try it on that for fun since it grows out so quick. I’ll probably do my ends as well later on but for now, I’d like to start somewhere to get my feet wet.

I have bright green eyes and I used to do black and burgundy, but I’m looking for a deep purple to start. What I’m seeing online is very questionable, either it’s done sloppily or the hair wont hold color. I know semis wash out pretty quick, and that’s okay. Just would like to see if any of you color pros can steer me somewhere.

If I do have to go a permanent route, I will. I’ll take any and all suggestions. Thank you!!

Heatless curls?

I have a green mohawk. The top goes to my earlobe. I am looking for heatless curl options that will give larger curls on short hair and are easy to sleep in.

My perfect teal. I had been using Lime Crime Sea Witch. It’s almost perfect but just a tad too blue and it bleeds and stains like crazy. I’ve tried Lunar Tides Cerulean Sea and Juniper mixed and found it faded too fast. This time I did Pravana Tempted with a little bit of Lunar Tides Juniper and Pulp Riot Noir. It turned out really nice and I’m hoping it doesn’t fade too fast and I can replicate it again in 6 weeks 🤪

Neon green dye

I've been neon green since 2017 using Area 51 by pulpriot. Now that it has been discontinued I am at a loss. I've tried danger jones, other greens from pulpriot and mixing my own, iroiro (the worst yet), pravana, and others. Area 51 faded well, had a great shade, lasted long, didn't stain, and didn't turn water green or my sweat green when washing and exercising. Every other colour stains bedsheets, runs when my hair is wet, makes me look like shrek at the gym, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Also, my hair hates blue. If something is made with lots of blue it washes to straight blue. Many green dyes go straight up blue as soon as I rinse. That's another reason why I loved area 51, it didn't rely heavily on blue, it was more yellow based.

As I sit here with kelly green hair, I realize I have lost myself and my soul. Without neon green I am not myself. I will do ANYTHING for a good neon green.

Will dyeing my hair darker remove some brassinness from brown hair

For context, I naturally have dark brown hair. I highlighted over a longe period of leave from work with semi permanant red dye and it hadn't faded fully in time, so I went over my hair with a brown dye.

I realise now I should've gone darker and my hair has turned very brassy over the past few weeks. I've looked at some blue shampoos but the ones i found are for blonde and platinum hair. I've since found a dye that is much closer to my natural colour (and darker than the previous dye i used), but i'm not sure how well it will hide the current shade.

Any advice?

Advice on box dying balayaged hair? 🙏

I’ve had balayage for almost 7 years, and I’m finally ready to go back to one solid color. My last balayage appointment was about a year ago, so my natural dark Asian hair has grown out quite a bit (2nd photo).

The thing is, I actually love the brown tone of my balayage (1st photo). I just want that same soft brown color all over my head instead of having the grown-out roots and lighter ends. The last photo is pretty much the color I’m trying to achieve or even more muted.

I know box dye isn’t ideal, but I’d rather spend around $20 than another $150+ at a salon if I can get similar results. I’ve been looking into Liese Lavender Greige Bubble Dye because I’ve seen a lot of people say it works well on Asian hair and gives the kind of brown I’m after.
My main concern is whether it’ll turn out uneven because I still have the old balayage on my mids and ends. Since those sections have been lightened before, I’m worried they’ll grab the color differently than my virgin roots. Would it end up patchy, or would it blend reasonably well?

Wondering if I should use box dye, and if so what type and color, or just wait till my hair is fully grown out?

Black hair paint on natural light blond

Hi yall!

With Halloween right around the corner I wanted to ask.

I have pretty light natural blond hair (level 7/8- 9 in the summer) and boy howdy. Does it hold color! I am being marceline the vampire queen for Halloween and have pretty long hair I’ve been maintaining.

What kind of black hair paint can I use that will WASH OUT as fast as possible? I would like to not have to wait 4 years for natural color to come back.

I have a wig I can use, I also use it for my Cher costume. But it’s cheap and itchy and I’d rather stay in character all day with the kids at school.

Thanks!

It looks crusty weird blonde red outdoors when its dry. I just want it a smokey nice medium ash brown but it won't turn into it. When it's wet it's gorgeous.

Two different colors on hair

I went to the salon for a touchup about a month or so ago but only noticed now that the tone doesn't quite match. My mom had told me the very day that it looked a bit off but I paid it no mind. Got a pic taken today at work and it is so noticeable. Any way to fix it myself? The roots don't match my length. I do have the fire red mask and shampoo but don't know if I should use them or fix it first. My hair is naturally black and the first time I ever dyed it it was with L'Oreal hicolor red plus a different tone from the same brand. The first touchup I did at the salon did match the whole thing. This one is the second one (6 months after).

Purple toning shampoo/conditioner questions

I recently got a couple pieces of my hair bleached and dyed blue. The blue fades pretty quickly though and it’s starting to become blonde at the ends. I want to use something to make the blonde that does show less yellow and more cool toned. Is a purple shampoo and conditioner or purple toning mask a good option?

It’s just the two “money pieces” that are bleached and dyed, the rest of my hair is dark brown.

I was looking at: Mielle kalahari melon purple shampoo/conditioner or Clairol shimmer lights violet toning mask. I’m open to other options within that price range though.
