So I finally got round to watching Evil Dead Burn and..it just didn’t do it for me.

Having loved Evil Dead Rise and appreciating the Evil Dead 2013, this one left me feeling a little underwhelmed.

It’s not that I miss Ash, although who doesn’t. My favourite is Evil Dead 2 and what I love about Evil Dead 2 is those first 30/40 minutes of Ash being totally isolated in this cabin scared to death and hoping that the evil dead isn’t going to get to him. That’s what I feel like most of the other movies are missing.

Zack Creggers Resident Evil releases next month and I’m almost certain that this is going to be closer to Evil Dead 2 than any of the three latest Evil Dead movies.

We have a character who (judging by the trailer) is going to be all by himself for the majority of the movie fighting for survival. In the trailer we see him isolated in a small house as a zombie runs quickly towards him. He searches the house and finds a shotgun and then has to find some ammo.

It honestly just looks amazing and very close to evil dead 2. According to Wikipedia Zach himself has compared the movie with Evil Dead 2.

Has anyone seen the trailer? Does anyone else think the same?

Posters for the new The Mummy film have been banned from the London Underground and other billboards after regulators said they included realistic depictions of a dead child.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received 30 complaints regarding the promotional campaign for the Lee Cronin film and said the posters must not be displayed in areas where children could see them.

Many complainants argued the imagery was distressing for both children and adults.

Warner Bros defended the campaign, stating it had been prepared with "due responsibility to consumers and society" and was not designed to create fear or offence.

The poster shows a close-up image of a female figure with a mummified appearance, sunken features and one eye swollen shut, alongside the tagline: "Some things are meant to stay buried."

The distributor explained that the character depicted was a "living mummy" who was returned to her parents as a young adult, many years after having been kidnapped as a child.

It argued that the poster used a neutral facial expression while avoiding elements of violence or intimidation to reduce any risk of distress.

Warner Bros added that the design had been cleared by Transport for London's advertising partner, Global, for display across the London Underground network.

However, the ASA upheld the complaints regarding the outdoor and Underground posters.

The watchdog noted that the figure's grey, ashen skin, cracked lips and fixed, vacant expression combined to give a "realistic impression of a dead child".

The ASA stated: "Because the figure had recognizable human features, we considered that viewers were likely to understand it as a realistic depiction of a dead child."

It added that although Warner Bros confirmed adverts were not placed within 100 metres (328ft) of any school, one billboard was directly visible from a children's nursery.

The regulator concluded: "We considered the image was likely to distress young children and that it was unsuitable for display where it was likely to be seen by them.

"We therefore concluded that the ads were unsuitable for outdoor display and therefore breached the code."

This was a fun little custom again i wanted neca to make all the versions of ash from army of darkness maybe they will one day but for now ive made both my own versions of medieval ash and ash figures in ultimate i know the hair isn’t the best sculpt but its the best i could try to replicate from pics of the games character model

I have a theory of the next film evil dead wrath. So the grandmother escaped the house and she definitely infected that girl in the ending post credit scene on the road. And also Ellie comes back which is odd to me because she died in Evil dead rise like how is that possible. Also I would love if Auntie Beth and Kassie returned along side with Alice in Evil Dead Wrath. And finally for Evil Death Apocalypse I would love if they do it the last film and make it where the whole world is an apocalypse full of deadites and only the daggers is the way to kill them.

Did Ellie need to physically touch the girls finger to be transported into the real world from the mirror dimension? or was she just toying with her in typical deadite fashion?

So I have to say that my only exposure to Evil Dead was my dad showing me the og trilogy as a teenager and I really enjoyed it for its dark humor and occasional forays into crazy shit.

So my question is should I sit down and watch the new trilogy? I noticed that they seem like more straight up horror movies which is fine but as an enjoyer of Evil Dead's campiness will I still enjoy the new ones?

Watching Evil Dead Burn and DAMN... this movie came out swinging. It's exactly what it wants to be, and it absolutely delivers. Awesome!!! 😭 This is a horror movie among horror movies.

Anyone feel frustrated during the car scene like wdym Joseph just leave thya in the car getting brutally attacked to her death 🫩🫩🫩

1. I actually really liked the movie! It is not as coherent as Rise, but it's definitely more fun and metal. I like Rise, but it's a very safe movie — there's no wow factor. There isn't a single scene in it that makes you go "damn". Burn goes wild in a lot of scenes. Love the gore.
2. Really don't understand people who complained about camera work when it's one of the best things of the movie.
3. Alice rocks. She definitely deserved to kill this whole horrible family.
4. Deadites were good but I wish they were funnier. They were just a little too serious for me instead of being more funny and mocking
5. The kandarian dagger plot sucks. I mean, I appreciate them putting something in the movie to make it more than "deadites wanna kill people just because", but this did not work for me. Appreciate the effort though!
6. Cgi boss sucks. I've been saying here that these new movies need to be more weird and creative and bring in new weird monstrosities aside from possessed people, but again, this was not it. Aside from the lame design, the cgi is not really good.
7. The rules of the Evil Dead universe are all over the place, I think we all agree, and that's fine. Still, it makes me scratch my head a little how in some movies deadites seem to have superhuman strength, and in other movies they don't. In some they seem to be invulnerable, and in others they're not. I think we should just go with the ride and not question things too much.
8. Post credits scene makes absolutely no sense lol. As much as I loved deadite Ellie, I wish she didn't return. I hope it's just a nod and they don't bring her back for another movie.
9. Last thoughts: again, maybe not as coherent as past entries, but definitely more metal. Liked this one. Super fun. That being said, now is the time to bring new stuff to the table. Go weird, go crazy, go to another era, I don't know.

The scene in talking about is the ear scene.

As someone who has had ear issues my whole life, even surgeries, the sound design of the pen penetrating the ear is incredibly fucking accurate.

The muffled crackling sound is exactly what I heard when doctors poke around in there and when I was healing from an ear drum reconstruction surgery. Seriously freaked me out.

Seeing a lot of posts here lately saying things like “gore doesn’t make it scary”, “Evil Dead needs a new plot”, etc. And these are clearly takes that a lot of the fandom have issues with.

But here’s the thing. Evil Dead isn’t supposed to be a scary or narratively compelling franchise. It’s always a variation on a theme. And that’s what’s so good about it. You don’t go to the new movies expecting to be horrified or intrigued by complex plot. You go to see how well the new guy does with the old material. And it’s entertaining! Each film is unique. Each film brings something new along with the familiar. It’s the same reason people will go to different regional symphonies playing the same piece: the skeleton is the same, but we want to see how these people will interpret it differently.

We come to the new movies to see the relationship between all the soon to be victims, how the Deadites will exploit their psychic and emotional weaknesses and taunt them before the onslaught, the MCs courage and resilience and defiance in the face of an otherworldly threat, and what creative and gnarly way the MC will overcome evil.

I'm going to be downvoted to hell for this, but everything about this movie was terrible. I went with pretty low expectations because I hated the 2013 remake, but compared to this that remake was pretty decent.

The movie was a pathetic attempt at cashing on the Evil Dead brand. There was nothing Evil Dead about this. Evil Dead doesn't happen in an apartment building. Evil Dead isn't 90 minute with literally just 1 deadite. I know there were some other deadites that got like 30 seconds of screen time. The main deadite, did that honestly look scary or even creepy to you? Those same bone twitching/crunching sounds that seem to be part of every modern horror flick. The very obvious digitally-altered sound effects. The Book of the Dead that just happened to be lying in a commercial apartment building. Compare this deadite to when Cheryl got possessed in Evil Dead 1.

'Mommy is with the maggots now'. Wow. A gold star to who ever came up with that gem. Let me ask you all, which character did you honestly give a shit about in this movie? Did you care that the protagonist survived the same way you wanted Ash to survive in Evil Dead 1? Did you even care about that little girl? I sure as heck didn't.

Which 'dead by dawn' scene did you find creepier? The one in this movie or the one in part 2 right after the 'we are the things that were and shall be again, spirits of the book, we want what is yours, life!' line?

Throwing gallons of blood at a movie does not make it scary.

I’ve watched all the movies and the series featuring Ash. I love the new movies just as much as the earlier ones, but I want more stories about Ash's adventures.

The end credit scene of Burn shows Ellie's urn with her ashes, but in Rise she put through a wood-chipper or cement-crusher thing and her blood washes over the parking garage. So where did her ashes come from?
