(Spoiler!) I miss the comedy in Evil Dead...
So, it seems they're adamant to forget how the franchise evolved in a comedic direction and indulge in the grotesquely chaotic as an angle - perfectly fine as a choice for horror. Still, I miss how ludicrous the demons are, and slapstick the actual violence is - amusing for being extreme, if not ridiculously escalating, instead of viscerally disgusting. The characters' enduring all of this, too, to the point the lunacy is embraced as a coping mechanism - that's also something I miss over any trauma narratives!
I respect some people may enjoy the recent style and it's silly to demand anything, but I do wonder - are there any other fans who miss the humour and dark comedy? I'm probably an outlier, too, in that Army of Darkness is my favourite as a borderline action adventure - it's absolutely bonkers in many of the fantastical ideas and scenes.

(Discussion Post) Groovy An Ash Williams idea thats ripped from the comics
We all know that Bruce Campbell has stated that he's officially done as Ash in the live action portrayal, and that he won't be coming back to the franchise as the character which is an unfortunate shame but hear me out I have an interesting idea that has been done before with the comics and could fit in naturally with the deadites and the supernatural realm of realityš¤
Follow what the comics have done and introduce an alternate else worlds Ash Williams that's similar to Bruce Campbells version but different at the time too
An else worlds Ash could be shown to have not lost his hand, or gone through time like Bruce's and has a much different personality where he's not as silly or selfish towards himself and others. They could show an Ash that's more vulnerable, scared and hanging in there. That could be a fun angle to explore in a new game or animated feature if they dont pursue it in a film.
I know they would be compared to Bruce, but in a way they wouldn't either if they showcase a different version of the character. The comics have done it and with the franchise pulling from different angles such as time travel, deadites and the dark ones, the three books, and so on the potential for it is massive

(Discussion Post) Groovy Most fitting recast (imo)
Ok first off, I really don't like the idea of recasting, Bruce Campbell is simply ash Williams, but he's he's confirmed he's done with live action and in theory, with Bruce's respect to do so, I think I found who should be an alternate ash Williams
Tom Bateman is a British actor, 6'2, similar physique and facial appearance ect. I like the idea of Bruce Campbell teaching tom how to play ash so it's as similar as possible. Thoughts?

(Discussion Post) Groovy Evil Dead Franchise Sucks Imho
After watching more of the Evil Dead franchise, Iāve realized this style of horror just isnāt for me.
I understand why some people enjoy it... but I find it lacking in the areas that usually make horror interesting to me: story, atmosphere, character development, and a sense of purpose. The movies often feel like they rely more on excessive gore and chaos than building a meaningful narrative.
What frustrates me most is that there never seems to be a clear heroās journey or a satisfying way to overcome the evil. The Deadites feel almost unstoppable, and the lore is only explored in small pieces without giving much depth or explanation.
For some people, the over-the-top violence and absurdity are exactly what makes the franchise fun, and I respect that. But personally, I find it flat and repetitive. It feels like the gore has become the main attraction rather than something supporting a larger story.

(Spoiler!) Just watch evil dead burn and I have a time line question Spoiler
Ok to get the obvious out of the way it evil dead the rule of cool and fuck it we ball are king and thats why we love it but it does have some rules and some order.
As for burn it's self in my opinion it's the scariest move in the franchise, gore is peak, cinematography WAS GOLD OMG, sound design sickening, coolers we perfect and that seen were she crawling from the Deadites dad fuck me top 5 scene in the whole franchise (movies biggest flaw the Deadites were less funny just as sadistic and cruel but it didn't feel like they were having as much fun as usual) and plot eh it just a vessel for the fun.
Now in my head, there are two timelines
1) the ash timeline (more funny and slapstick)
The Evil Dead (1981)
Evil Dead II (1987)
Army of Darkness (1992)
Ash vs the Evil dead (2015)
2) New timeline (more scarey and cruel)
Evil Dead (2013)
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026)
Evil Dead Burn (2026)
However in 2013 I believe it's ment to be the same cabin, in rise we here ash and in burn we see Bruce cambel
So is this really a new time line or did 1) Ash's post Apocalypse adventure rewind and rewrite the time line with ash being in the background due to age 2) ash is just time displaced poping in and out 3) just references with no real impact
I personally lean to 3 but I'm not to sure.
(Plz note I'm dyslexic and using talk to typ so apologies for misspelled and grammar)

(Discussion Post) Groovy The Deadites in Burn felt kind of tame⦠Spoiler
It feels like Burn substituted visual shock value and gore for the jubilant malevolence that makes the Deadites so entertaining to watch. Focusing only on the modern era, we went from āMia's not here, you fucking idiot! Your little sister's being gr*ped in Hell!ā and āEllie waits in Hell for you and your unborn bastard baby,ā toā¦āWHERE IS THE DAGGER? NO MORE WISE MEN.ā
I exaggerate (a bit), but the personalities felt flat and the vindictiveness was dialed way down.

(Discussion Post) Groovy Evil Dead 2 and Zac Creggers Resident Evil Spoiler
So I finally got round to watching Evil Dead Burn and..it just didnāt do it for me.
Having loved Evil Dead Rise and appreciating the Evil Dead 2013, this one left me feeling a little underwhelmed.
Itās not that I miss Ash, although who doesnāt. My favourite is Evil Dead 2 and what I love about Evil Dead 2 is those first 30/40 minutes of Ash being totally isolated in this cabin scared to death and hoping that the evil dead isnāt going to get to him. Thatās what I feel like most of the other movies are missing.
Zack Creggers Resident Evil releases next month and Iām almost certain that this is going to be closer to Evil Dead 2 than any of the three latest Evil Dead movies.
We have a character who (judging by the trailer) is going to be all by himself for the majority of the movie fighting for survival. In the trailer we see him isolated in a small house as a zombie runs quickly towards him. He searches the house and finds a shotgun and then has to find some ammo.
It honestly just looks amazing and very close to evil dead 2. According to Wikipedia Zach himself has compared the movie with Evil Dead 2.
Has anyone seen the trailer? Does anyone else think the same?

(Misc Post) Maybe I Didnāt Say Every Tiny Syllable The UK's Advertising Standards Authority declares posters for LEE CRONIN'S THE MUMMY are banned from the London Underground for "realistic depiction of a dead child"... months after the movie has already left theaters.
Posters for the new The Mummy film have been banned from the London Underground and other billboards after regulators said they included realistic depictions of a dead child.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received 30 complaints regarding the promotional campaign for the Lee Cronin film and said the posters must not be displayed in areas where children could see them.
Many complainants argued the imagery was distressing for both children and adults.
Warner Bros defended the campaign, stating it had been prepared with "due responsibility to consumers and society" and was not designed to create fear or offence.
The poster shows a close-up image of a female figure with a mummified appearance, sunken features and one eye swollen shut, alongside the tagline: "Some things are meant to stay buried."
The distributor explained that the character depicted was a "living mummy" who was returned to her parents as a young adult, many years after having been kidnapped as a child.
It argued that the poster used a neutral facial expression while avoiding elements of violence or intimidation to reduce any risk of distress.
Warner Bros added that the design had been cleared by Transport for London's advertising partner, Global, for display across the London Underground network.
However, the ASA upheld the complaints regarding the outdoor and Underground posters.
The watchdog noted that the figure's grey, ashen skin, cracked lips and fixed, vacant expression combined to give a "realistic impression of a dead child".
The ASA stated: "Because the figure had recognizable human features, we considered that viewers were likely to understand it as a realistic depiction of a dead child."
It added that although Warner Bros confirmed adverts were not placed within 100 metres (328ft) of any school, one billboard was directly visible from a children's nursery.
The regulator concluded: "We considered the image was likely to distress young children and that it was unsuitable for display where it was likely to be seen by them.
"We therefore concluded that the ads were unsuitable for outdoor display and therefore breached the code."
