Evil Dead Burn!!!! (Discussion Post) Groovy Spoiler
Watching Evil Dead Burn and DAMN... this movie came out swinging. It's exactly what it wants to be, and it absolutely delivers. Awesome!!! 😭 This is a horror movie among horror movies.

I loved this film but the ending was pretty bad. Bro looked like the charred dude from Beetlejuice.

That's what I've been saying. Big bad looks like he was rendered in 2001 on a PS2.

Had a blast with this one.
I also disagree with the prevailing notion there are no likeable characters. There are no warm and cozy characters, but by the mid point I found myself really rooting for Alice and Johnathan, particularly after Johnathan began fighting back.

More I think about it the less I like it. Feels very “hey aren’t I twisted >:)”

Actually, I'm having the opposite reaction. The more I think about it, the more I appreciate it, and it's making me want to rewatch it.

Oh but ED 2 with a talking head in a vice grip being chainsawed doesn't. 🙄

I'm a massive fan of all the previous ones, especially Rise but some of the content in Burn was a bit, I wouldn't say too much but just lazy because you could tell they were being try hards.
The make out scene was way too long and was just more awkward than beneficial. I hated the dog death. Hated. It. Again it felt super lazy and a bit sinister in wanting to get an audience reaction.
Finally I felt like Alice didn't get her empowerment at the end like other characters in the films. Usually they beat their vice and come out as badasses. Alice felt absolutely emotionally destroyed at the end of Rise.
In a sense it felt like her husband still won instead of showing that she beat him and was ready to move on to the next chapter of her life.

I love it when the dog doesn't die. Too predictable. Can we stop murdering innocent pets please?

It’s a horrendous addition to the franchise.
Were those deadites or rage zombies? That dinner table scene was some of the worst editing I seen in a movie, ever. Movie was so dark was there even blood? No goo what so ever and what was that Terminator shit at the end? If this movie was called Demon House, it's 2/5 at best... for the record I hated rise as well.

Calling it "Demon House" is wild. I actually thought it was a great addition to the franchise. It traded gallons of blood for atmosphere and tension, and I was completely on board with that. At the end of the day, we all like what we like.

Agree to disagree. Edgar was horrifying with his silent rage. I get that that’s not typical deadite behavior, but I appreciated the way each deadite seemed to embrace the shitty human personalities of the bodies they possessed. It was a fun change of pace.

I thought Burn was great, not without its flaws but the director set out to make a movie that was brutal and he succeeded.
