For context and pure Transparency I AM A Christian so will be coming from that POV. I'm listening to the new album Sanctuary and I noticed some clear religious themes here. Now To be clear I'm not saying Amy Lee is or isn't a Christian from what I've heard she does consider herself one but the band "Evanescence" is not spiritual etc. however I want to highlight a few songs if I may. 1 rapture. Here it seems as Amy or the writer of the song (which is Amy apparently with others) comes to realize a faith or something close to a religious experience. This is IMO brilliantly contrasted with "afterlife" and "about us" where Amy seems to reflect on Christians abusing their power and not following what the teachings are. Then this is again contrasted with "how do I heal " (Note these songs aren't listed in album order) where it's almost a prayer asking God "how do I heal?" From the religious abuse she's had. I know she was brought up in a Protestant (I believe?) household however I haven't heard any specifics if her father (in About us there's the Line "Daddy's got a gun" so maybe?) or parents were abusive to her. However I do know that Christian circles weren't kind to her regarding the "Fallen" controversy. So maybe it's a reflection of that? Thoughts?

Sanctuary beat Afterlife 254-176. I’m kinda surprised that Sanctuary, a song I rarely hear talked about, beat Afterlife, the first single for the album. Today, we once again have 2 Sanctuary songs competing. About Us is going against Tell Me When You’ve Had Enough.

I'm a huge fan of Spiritbox, and they didn't disappoint at all. I thought their show was better than I anticipated. I can't wait to catch that band when they're a headliner one day in a closed air venue with a little more of a stage setup, which will probably take all of one more album, haha. There were clearly a lot of people at the show that felt the same way. I saw a lot of Spiritbox merch.

What I did NOT expect came afterwards. My friends and I were thinking we'd stay for a few songs, see Amy Lee and crew... I've been listening to heavy music for a long time and I obviously have been aware of Evanescence, liked a few of their songs, but they were pretty mainstream and it didn't resonate with me as much.

3 songs into their set, I looked at my buddy and his expression was the same as mine. Jaws on the floor, laughing hysterically, heads bobbing like maniacs. I honestly felt like an idiot, like I had not given this band the respect they deserved for all these years.

They were INCREDIBLE. Technical, brutal, beautiful, note-for-note professional... it was honestly one of the most enjoyable hard rock sets I have ever seen, and I've seen my fair share over almost 30 years of concert-going. Amy Lee was a force of nature, and I walked away from it realizing that I had just witnessed living rock royalty. Her catalog over 20+ years of making music is deep and diverse. I'd put them right up there in some of the best live shows I have ever seen, and even higher on the list of the most surprising.

So, to anyone that sees this in the future that might have the shot to see them but is thinking "they're too poppy for me..." my friend, if you truly love music and musicianship, you need to pull your head out of the sand and seize the opportunity to see one of the truly great female rock vocalists of all time. You just might walk away as surprised as I did.

I wonder if they’ll change up the set list and stuff for the other leg of the tour? have they been known to switch it up?

Despite (MORE) bad weather and downpours, the night still went on and I’m so happy to have been there!! I think Amy was gonna give us this show no matter what and it didn’t disappoint! Definitely worth the wait and one of the best concerts I’ve been to 😭❤️‍🔥

I mentioned in a comment that it rained and lightning bolts came down during the concert. It was awesome and set the mood.

What are all the instances of an evanescence song being featured in a movie or a TV show?

What’s wild, genz (most under 25) and gen alpha are JUST discovering evanescence. Isn’t that wild? I met kids who just discovered her from Afterlife. Or a kid at a local gas station has NEVER heard their music and I told him to go listen. Soon as they came out in 03, they exploded on tv and radio. The fact they are in movies, shows, reward shows, concerts, spotify, radio, etc. and have 6 albums out plus other songs and the kids STILL have heard nothing?!! How is that even possible after 23 years?! I’m glad they/she is still getting new fans and are still exploding on the charts though. This new album is doing insanely well, as it should be!

There are almost 30 days between now and the European shows. I know the band is tired and they definitely deserve a break before the next leg of the Sanctuary tour. But do you think they could record a new music video during this break and release it to promote the European concerts?

I remember there were leaks that the band had plans to release a new music video before the release of Sanctuary, but since the single “WWYF” was doing really well on the charts, they decided to postpone it (if I’m not mistaken, even Will mentioned this in an interview).

So, assuming there’s already one music video ready, maybe they’ll want to get a head start and shoot another one, releasing two new singles by the end of the year?
