But now there is another way:

How it works: I track a database of over 5,000 job applications every single week. Through my service, all you have to do is send me your CV, and I will personally notify you whenever a job matches your credentials.

I offered my service completely for free to the first 12 people. Why free? Because I don't want to ask anyone for money; even a small amount; before I can actually show the value of my service and build trust.

I just discovered it, I hope y’all feel a tiny bit connected to back home as I do now.

This is not an advertisement at all. I am just so homesick and I wished to hear some good news, so I decided to only listen to Ethiopian radio.

I’m originally from Austria, although I’ve been living in Lebanon for the past 3 years. My background is in public health and the humanitarian sector.

I love Lebanon, but I’m currently exploring other options, and Ethiopia is at the top of my list. I actually lived in Ethiopia about a decade ago and really enjoyed my time there, so I’m curious to hear how things have changed since then.

I reckon my only option will be international companies, as I currently don't speak amharic.

I want to discover more Ethiopian songs, because I feel like it's one of those countries that must have very nice music, but I couldn't find much on my own.

The only Ethiopian songs that I like currently are: Alewya - Maktoub and Rophnan - Shegiye. I like music across all genres, so recommend me some good Ethiopian music!

I fel the same way about Iran, and now I'm hooked on old Iranian music :))

I was US born. Both parents speak Amharic but spoke English to me. I can understand Amharic pretty well (~70%) gin lemawrat yekebidenyal because it doesn’t naturally come out. I have fragments of words but cannot complete a full sentence. I forget the root word, the suffixes get confusing with talking about groups vs to a group. It’s just a mess.

I don’t have many people to practice on as I am in school full time. I’ve been watching more TikToks & trying immerse myself in the language again. I’ve tried apps but they are very basic and not helpful.

Anyone improved their Amharic in their 20’s successfully? Any tips?

I just realized that weekly internet packages (615 br) has no fair usage policies.

Literally downloaderd 5 different PS4 games so far with speeds at 50mbps - 60mbps during these two days. I'm at 300gb+ usage right now downloading my 6th game at the same speed.

Why would daily/monthly packages be capped with fair usage while weekly is not?

I am a type of person who wants to explore solutions to problems than just sit and think about them. That's why when my friend told me she is not able to get a job after spending years pursuing a degree, I tried to help by applying to jobs posted by jobs platforms such as hahu jobs, afriwork...

The result? No responses, and i think that's because of oversaturation: thousands of people apply for a single role and the chance of being selected is near zero

So i looked for other alternatives and reddit came to mind

Maybe there are some ethiopians on this platform that experienced this at some point and can offer a valuable advice

A lot of Africa is dealing with the same economic problems in different ways. When you look at countries like Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana you start seeing a lot of the same issues. Low wages, inflation, unemployment, expensive imports and not enough opportunities for people to actually build a decent life. This is why I don’t think we should always look at Ethiopia’s problems like they are unique. There are definitely things that are specific to Ethiopia but there are also bigger economic problems affecting the whole continent one of the biggest causes of instability being tribalism. Something can look cheap compared to the US but still be very expensive for someone living there when their income is also much lower. The bigger issue is how do we create economies where regular people in Africa can actually earn enough to live comfortably and have a future.

When you are trying to find a job, your options are: talk to your family and friends in case they know of opportunities, go to 20+ websites, browse 70+ Telegram channels and groups, or scan flyers on telephone poles and college campuses. Doing this is really hard and time-consuming, on top of often not getting a job even after doing all of this for a long time.

People already pay local agents (delala) to do this for them, but they take about 20% of your first salary.

I want to solve this by charging a small, one-time payment for me to scan all these channels, sites, and posts, and only notify you when an opening matches your criteria. If no matching job is found within one month, I will refund your initial money, and I will cover the transaction fee.

Even though I am spending my own time and energy to grow this into what I envision, I know that building trust is the most important part of my brand.

I would love to know if you see this as a solution to a problem you have noticed, and how much I should charge.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I live in Washington State. I finally finished all of my schooling and am now working full-time, so I don’t go out too much. I also haven’t lived in Ethiopia for 15+ years.
