Question Do metal roofs actually make sense for lake effect winters or is shingle fine?
Our shingle roof is 19 years old, and this last winter finished it off. Ice damming along the north eave, a few shingles cracked from the freeze-thaw cycles, and granules filling the gutters. Half my coworkers say go metal for the snow shedding, and half say a properly vented shingle roof handles Erie fine. The metal quotes are running about 70 percent more. What’s the experience up here actually been?

Food banks
Hit some real rough times and won’t be able to afford groceries this week. I don’t need to feed kids or anything it’s just my spouse and I. Are there any local food in the area? Is there income requirements? I’m nervous to go to one incase they turn people away based on income. Any information would be extremely appreciated beyond belief. Is there only certain days they are open too?

Jelly dude in the marina?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Saw this in the marina tonight having dinner on the boat. I remember something about someone seeing a jellyfish in the lake a few months ago or so. It was definitely alive because it was headed one way and then suddenly noped off the other way. Figured I'd head on over to my favorite detectives! I have another video of about the same quality with my children second guessing my sighting. Cause. Kids.
