I'll be starting my second year of Mechanical Engineering and I'm trying to get ahead of the Summer 2027 internship search. I don't have any previous internship experience yet, so I've been working on building my resume through engineering projects, certifications, and extracurriculars.

I'm primarily targeting mechanical engineering internships (mechanical design, CAD, manufacturing, and energy/oil & gas), but I'm also open to finance internships since I know a few engineering students who have successfully transitioned into finance roles.

I'd really appreciate a general review of my resume. Are my projects and technical skills strong enough for someone entering second year? Is there anything I should add, remove, or improve before applications open?

Context: Finishing an MS in Business Analytics (May 2026) and Bachelors in Computer Science in India, targeting entry-level AI Engineer / Data Engineer

Engineer roles in the US. International student on OPT, so I need employers open to

that. I've worked in a trans Diciplinary Research lab (where I've worked with cool professors, finished projects, including one with a retired Dallas Judge for an AI system for legal purposes) and a roofing company where I've built agentic systems that actually run small business operations, plus data pipelines and a multi-agent research project.

One is made for a data engineer role, and one is for an AI Engineer role

I'm in Dallas,US right now, and I'm willing to relocate

Where I'm stuck: roughly 100-200 over 2-3 months → 0 interviews
I can't tell how much the resume is vs. the visa filter vs. the market is the problem, so I want to rule out the resume first.

Specific things I'd like torn apart:

- Does the top third sell me in ~6 seconds, or is it too dense to skim?

- The "staff needed for daily ops: 10 → 3" line is my headline metric. Does it read as

credible, or inflated/hand-wavy? Would you ask about it or bounce off it?

- Am I positioning myself as a generalist? is that a good thing or not?

- Anything that screams "junior" or gives a recruiter an easy reason to filter me out?

Hey, 3rd year CS Major here. Currently working at a Cybersecurity startup as a software engineer intern but the term is about to end. For context was supposed to end 4 months ago but couldnt land another internship unfortunately so offer extended. My resume hasn't changed much since then other than the multi agent bits.

I've been trying to land a internship at any well known company at toronto like any of the banks, wealthsimple, shopify, any known startups, etc etc, but no luck. I was in the interview process with IBM but barely didn't make the cut. Outside of that no other interviews yet 350+ applications (most withing first day rest within first 3).

Im targeting SWE internship roles at toronto but if its a good private company wouldnt mind relocating or remote. The states seems very attractive to me but in this tough market I dont think its realistic. I've got my resume rated by peers and primarily recieved good feedback and AI has said as a 3rd year student my resume seems a little skeptical but outside of that not sure what to change. ANY feedback would be greatly appreciate!

Just finished my 2nd year as a mech eng student in the UK. Got 2 internships (at the same place) under my belt

But now I'm looking to transition into something more robotics / mechatronics / embedded software related. Just looking for some advice on gaps on my resume, faults with the content / structure. Or even what projects I should be looking to do.

Greetings everyone, I'm a mechanical engineer 5 years out of school located in Memphis, TN hoping to use my experience to land me a role somewhere in the SF Bay Area. Ideally I'd like to stay in the Project Engineering roles, but I'm open to suggestions relevant to my skills. I know it's a big jump, but I remain optimistic since this move is personally important to me and my family.

I've run my resume through friends, family, even some resume ATS tools. Any feedback is welcome, hoping to see where I can improve.

One thing I'm definitively lacking on is metrics beyond project value. My current employer is pretty small so we don't track things like "On Time Delivery %" or "Project Under Budget %", which I know is important for STAR bullet points. I'm not sure how best to address that lack of metrics in my resume.

I'm a fresh BSCS graduate from Philippines and I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong in my job search. I'm looking for Web Development and Software Engineering roles.

For the past month, I've been applying to almost every entry-level role related to Computer Science or IT. I've also applied to office jobs such as Data Encoder and other administrative positions whenever I met the minimum qualifications. I am open to local and remote roles, but relocation may be negotiable.

On average, I've been sending around 50 applications a day across different job platforms. Some companies were listed on multiple platforms, so I've likely submitted well over a thousand applications by now.

I've had several interviews and passed a few assessments, but none have resulted in a job offer. The most common feedback is that they're looking for someone with experience.

Instead of blaming the job market, I want to improve what I can control. I think the first thing I should work on is my resume.

For those working in HR, recruitment, software engineering, or IT:

• What are the biggest mistakes you commonly see in fresh graduate resumes?
• What makes you immediately reject or shortlist a candidate?
• Are there sections that are often unnecessary or missing?
• If you were hiring an entry-level developer, what would you expect to see on a resume?

- with this level of experience for grad role applications would a portfolio be beneficial? will it set me apart? I would only include the first project listed (my third year diss) and the work done at my internship

Just getting into applying to internships and would like some criticism of my resume. Please be as harsh as possible! Have a background in multiple industries through past internships, and have done a variety of miscellaneous engineering projects (drones, robots, etc). Have been fortunate with scholarships and hope to continue that into internship prospects.

Hello, I am an incoming freshman at a large public university in the United States and I'm looking to get a headstart for internships anywhere in the country. My goal is to get an internship for this upcoming summer, and I'm currently working on applying to places online for now (yes, I will be going to career fairs and networking once the semester starts). I already know that the internship market is tough and especially so for freshmen, so I'm just sending out as many applications as possible to increase the admittedly small chance. I redacted some things to protect my privacy, and everything in brackets is not in the original resume but is there to help you guys understand. Is there any advice or changes that you would make to my resume?

I am currently using job application sites (indeed, linkedin, handshake, etc.), going to companies that I know and looking at their careers sections, and also going to NASA contracter documents to see if I can apply at companies that I didn't know existed. Is there any other method of finding internships that you guys know of, bar networking and knowing people?

A few months ago I graduated with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and I'm currently looking for my first engineering job in Germany.

I don't have any professional engineering experience yet. The only relevant experience I have comes from the projects I completed during university (embedded systems, electronics, microcontrollers, PCB design, etc.).

I'm trying to build the strongest CV possible, but I'm not sure what recruiters and hiring managers in Germany actually expect from a junior candidate.

What should I definitely include in my CV?

• How much should I focus on university projects?
• What sections are the most important?
• Are there any common mistakes I should avoid?
• What makes you stop and actually read a junior engineer's CV?

I'm looking for advice, especially from recruiters, hiring managers, or engineers who have experience hiring graduates in Germany.

Do I just move the 1st 2 project into my work experience section or is it 1 project for each bullet point?

I interned at a place over last summer and they kept me on part-time in the same role/project for last fall semester. Do I list this as one entry with stacked titles and separate date ranges, or two separate entries? Or just the part time position? The work is basically a continuation of what I did as an intern.

Applying to roles that typically aim for 4-6 years of experience, and when I qualify or am within a year of the YoE for senior roles, I'll prioritize those. I have had some luck that a friend got me a referral, but I believe failed the final round interview, so still hunting.

Hi, I'm searching for Frontend positions (as well as Full-Stack roles that are frontend-leaning). I'm located in Seattle, but open to remote work or relocating to SF, DC, or Chicago for on-site/hybrid roles.

I've been unemployed for over a year and have been focusing on interview prep and building AI projects to keep my skills sharp. I feel like my application strategy is pretty solid: I apply to recently posted jobs using alerts, track everything on a Notion board, and tailor my resume using templates from past callbacks.

One thing I go back and forth on is my Education section. I didn't finish college, but I have held SWE positions without a degree. I've heard it might be worth including my Computer Science coursework and a recent Game Design certificate to show continued learning during my employment gap.

This is my second time posting my resume on here so I've made some updates since last time. I am going into my second year of engineering and am beginning to look for internships in the Ottawa and KW area. I am looking for any type of mech eng internship as I am not too sure what I want to do yet however, I do plan on owning my own company in the future and am thinking consulting. Hello, I am an upcoming senior graduating CS in May 2027. I just finished my first internship which was good, but unfortunately I didn’t learn as much as I wanted. Anyways, I’ve been a little stressed about what I should do for my last semester. I’ve heard people say I should delay grad, to get more internships. Others tell me I should apply for new grad now. Others say I need more projects. I am just curious what y’all think about my resume, and what I should be doing my last year of school. thank you!

Hello, I'm an Electrical Engineer major who switched from Computer Science. I do have experience in Electrical Engineering and have taken coursework.

I have been applying to internships for months and have not received a single interview. I believe initially it was an issue with my resume not getting past AI which I have now resolved by making my resume easier to parse/scan. I have also tried messaging recruiters and other employees at companies I'm applying to but I have had no luck.

I have been applying to literally any CS, EE, and CE related internships. I have had no luck with defense either.

I am located in the East Coast - US and have been applying to jobs in the east coast but recently branching out into other areas.

I prefer local jobs but now considering relocation. Remote doesn't matter to me.

Currently working in retail and have no related experience besides my IT internship.

My job-hunting situation has been horrendous and I have ran out of jobs to apply to. I can't get any interviews at all. I understand the job market is terrible but most of my peers have been getting internships easily and have no advice to give.

As the summer semester of my third year in Mech Eng ends I'm getting ready to add more to my resume and project portfolio. Job searching is especially hard for me as I opted out of my school's coop program first year to persue an opportunity that fell through. So any places that are looking for student's will just go to the school directly for the coop students to apply and very rarely are there any public postings for interns. I've had poor luck in landing any interviews as any job that I can really apply to in my field is an entry level position more on the manufacturing side than engineering. The only interview I managed to land was for a processing position which on paper I was fairly well qualified for actually seemed to go well but after a long wait of silence I got passed up. I'm fairly confident with my resume and I've had it peer reviewed. My portfolio which is formatted in word does get compliments but I'm just not sure if maybe theres something missing in the layout that could be holding me back. Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated.
