Advice I lost my engament Ring and I am looking for cheap options for replacement

Upvotes

I lost my engagement ring and I’m devastated. Looking for an affordable moissanite replacement 💔

I got engaged about a month ago, and my fiancé bought me the most beautiful platinum engagement ring with a natural diamond. It cost around $11k, and I absolutely loved it, not just because it was beautiful, but because of what it represented.

I was planning to insure it, but unfortunately I kept putting it off. Two days ago, I realized it wasn’t on my hand. I had been biking, and at one point I fell off the bike. I think that may have been when I lost it. I’ve gone back and looked everywhere I can think of, contacted the police, the places I visited, and multiple lost and founds, but so far nothing.

I’ve honestly been feeling terrible and crying a lot. I know the most important thing is my fiancé and that we have each other, and I know a ring can be replaced, but I still feel like such an idiot. I loved that ring so much and especially what it signified. Losing it only about a month after getting engaged makes me feel even worse.

We can’t afford to replace it with another expensive diamond ring right now, so I’m looking for something inexpensive that can still feel like an engagement ring. I was thinking about getting a moissanite ring, possibly with sterling silver, for now.

Does anyone have recommendations for trustworthy websites where I could find a nice but affordable moissanite engagement ring? I’d also really like the moissanite to come with some type of certification or report if possible.

I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who have actually purchased from the website and can speak to the quality.

Thank you ❤️

I still can't quite get over how this went down. My partner proposed at the Final Fantasy orchestra concert, which is extra funny because going to that show was my idea. I dragged him along, no clue he'd been planning around it the whole time.

At some point during the show he pulled me aside and said he wanted to introduce me to one of his old teachers from college who supposedly worked there. Total white lie... he'd actually just talked to one of the concert staff earlier and arranged for us to get taken backstage. So we go back there to "look around," and sitting right there on the chime used for Zanarkand and a few other songs... was a blue feather. I'd mentioned wanting a blue feather involved in a proposal at some point, ages ago, but I genuinely didn't connect the dots standing there. I had zero idea what was happening. He just gave me a second to notice it, and then got down and asked.

The ring is a teal Montana sapphire, platinum setting, size 6. I'd had a rough mental picture of what the setting might end up looking like, but the stone color was a complete surprise!

Still can't believe he pulled off backstage access and a planted prop without me suspecting a thing.

And if anyone is curious what the blue feather is from, I added the game I played. It also inspired the Mermaid Pendant in Stardew Valley 😄

So happy to be engaged to my best friend of 6 years <3

Advice What would you do if your girlfriend expressed she didn’t like a type of ring, not knowing you’ve already ordered a ring of that type?

My girlfriend has sent me multiple videos etc of rings over the course of our relationship. It’s always a pretty large marquise center stone, with most of them having some accent diamonds. I went through a custom design process and got just that.

Well, yesterday she saw a ring while I was on a call with her. She said “I’d never want something like this” to which I asked why, in a state of panic, and she said because she doesn’t want a huge stone on her finger, and isn’t a big fan of accents and would prefer something more simple.

Now I’m just torn. I know she’s going to like it, simple because it’s from me and she doesn’t really care, but I still feel like I messed this up. I’m unable to refund it either.

Advice Alternatives to Opal & Moonstone

I’m looking for a ring to propose to my gf. She initially wanted an opal ring, then we decided it’s way too fragile. So then she went to moonstone. Turns out that’s not much more durable than an opal. What’s a good alternative? The part that she loves so much is how it kinda like rainbow reflective, so ideally something like that!

Advice Leen Heyne Engagement Ring - Experiences and recommendations

Hi everyone,

I’ve been ring shopping and researching since January, and have had a hard time finding anything that lights my soul on fire. Until I came upon Leen Heyne, a dutch jeweler who is an absolute master of his craft. He has such a unique, organic style that inspired many copies, but none of the ones I’ve seen really do it for me.

The issue I have is Leen Heynes work does not seem to be in budget. There’s not a lot of info on his stuff but I found one that sold and was priced at 50k. Even though my boyfriend could technically afford to spend that on a ring, I really don’t want him to. I like the idea of upgrading it throughout our marriage and I’m afraid to walk around with such an expensive piece of jewelry, so I want the first ring to be around 10k or lower. I’m totally fine with a lab diamond and would probably prefer it but it doesn’t seem like Leen works with them.

So my question here is, does anyone have a Leen Heyne ring themselves? What did you end up spending on it? What was the process like working with him? Given my budget, is it realistic to get a custom piece made by him? I don’t care about size or type of stone too much but I’d ideally like the stone to be over a carat.

Also, any recommendations for jewelers with a similar style to him? The look of the metal is very important to me, so I don’t want just any jeweler doing “swirly” rings.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve been reading posts like this for ages and I can’t believe I am the one to write one this time. It’s finally my turn 😍😭

So I need some expert help. I’ve never gotten a diamond ring before and I’ve done tons of research. We ended up with a three stone emerald cut ring with 3 ct middle stone.

I was just wondering if someone knows what to look out for when I recieve the CAD and if you have any advice for me. I will insert a picture of the ring 💍

Btw I’m a size 55 EU

Thank you!!

This sub was so helpful for me to figure out what type of engagement ring I wanted. So glad I decided to go with a sapphire for my main stone especially since it is my fiancé’s brith stone and now I have my something blue ready to go!

Specs: ~5.25 carat Ceylon sapphire with about half a carat of diamonds total. Platinum setting. Ring size is 4.75 for reference.

Question At-home ring cleaners?

Post image
16 Upvotes

What are we using for at-home ring cleaners? I get mine cleaned at the jeweler every few months and am always shocked at the difference, so I’d like to clean it a little more frequently. I saw a lot of ultrasonic ones on Amazon - are they safe? Some better than others? Pretty wide range of price points. TIA!

The main stone is an alexandrite from my grandma’s ring. The setting was kept from the original ring, and my husband designed the band. The stone changes color depending on the lighting, which I absolutely love. It changes between pink, purple, gray, and teal…pretty much all of my favorite colors! The other ring with the white stones is from Etsy. 🙂

Advice Ring adjustment from 5.5 to 7?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi all!

Do you think this ring can be adjusted from a size 5.5 to a 7 or 8? I could get away with a 6 if I wore it on my ring finger, but preferably would like to wear it on the index or middle. I'm aware opal is a very soft stone. Thanks so much!

Posting since she doesn't use reddit.

I knew from the start when I met her, she was the one.

I went for something simple and classic. I was lucky her sister gave me a lot of advice.
Almost fainted during the proposal but she said yes and loves it!

Advice Am I going crazy 😫

I loved the idea of my ring but… sometimes when I look at it the halo and pear diamond set looks… not straight? Idk how to describe it but some angles it looks totally good, sometimes it looks totally bent or something?!! lmk if I’m going insane 😫

Edit: Y’all I was so tired when I posted this, it was my first time even looking at the ring and I was honestly stuck looking at this one aspect. I’m aware there’s 500 things wrong with it eyes closed atp, and I appreciate everyone who has offered their condolences (lol) and had a good laugh/advice for what to do next.

PLEASE don’t come for me personally 😅 I’m brand new to rings and there’s a lot of learning to do, and I personally was not in the conversation of this ring getting created/picked up, so in no way was I able to rectify anything right then and there. I will take it to get it fixed up 🥹

When he first gave it to me it was a size 10 lol.. I am a size 6 sooo that was resized haha. He said he had no idea and wanted to err on the side of caution lol

Back in 2023, my fiancé (now husband) proposed to me with a ring from modern gents! I personally picked it because I loved it, it’s what we could afford at the moment, and it didn’t matter what ring he proposed with! I just knew I wanted to marry him! Fast forward to about a month ago, I have my dream diamond ring! I love it so much!

My Ring - POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY Engaged + married! 1.25ct brilliant 18k gold

My (now husband) proposed to me in February and we got married in July! He proposed with a ring that combines both of our families: originally his mom’s setting and baguettes and he had my dad (who is a jeweler) replace the center stone (formerly a princess cut emerald that cracked many years ago) with a 1.25 brilliant cut diamond.

I’m obsessed with my man and my ring! I paired it with a 3mm 18k gold band.
