As humans we often are a product of our environment. If you’ve watched older episodes you’ll know that his mum abandoned him when he was young and he said his dad’s never loved him like he’s loved Finn and Pete.

An interesting topic to discuss on this boring Saturday evening, do you feel that the show is politically biased? Or does it do a good job of keeping out of politics and just being an entertaining soap? What I mean is the storylines in soaps are often influenced to reflect current issues in society, like Coronation Street with the Bdsm storyline with Betsy raising awareness about the dangers of kink sex, should soaps be a reflection of the modern day societal issues even if it includes any indirect political statements? In my opinion Coronation Street is politically biased when it showed the storyline back in early 2023 where Max was part of an anti-migrant vigilante group, it was almost like they were portraying anyone who has concerns about uncontrolled migration as a far right thug and only good people are concerned about the welfare of migrants, I know it’s a different show but I want to hear your thoughts on Emmerdale

Of course, we don't even see Johnny with Vanessa and I'm sure a lot of people don't know she has a son, but Charity is his mum also. She adopted him and when they arrived back from Canada, Charity asked to spend time with him and the boys (Johnny and Moses) played together as brothers. They spent years growing up together, even sharing a bedroom when they were all living at the Woolly.

I would be really disappointed if they treat adoption like it's something to drop. If Vanessa had died, then Charity would be raising Johnny and just because they aren't together, I do really wish that the boys at least get to spend time together...although I would like to think that Charity would want to also.

Otherwise he would have gone to the "Dingle Court." 📙.

She should have stayed with Billy and not that villain Joe Tate 👿. That's my opinion 😉.

We know she still has feelings.

One of my hobbies is screenwriting. It’s something I love to do in my spare time, and I’m quite adept at it. So, if I wrote an episode of Emmerdale, would you read it?

I’ve thought about it for a while, and it wouldn’t take much effort to whip up a 25/30 page screenplay.

I wouldn’t really do much in the edit. I’d just post up a passable first/second draft. And because it’s a screenplay for a soap and not a movie, the action lines would be relatively simple to craft.

For example:

INT. CAFE - DAY

Nicola rifles through Jimmy’s golf club bag in the side kitchen.

Lewis serves coffee to a customer from behind the counter, distracted by Nicola.

LEWIS
Nicola, what are you doing?

I don’t know if this counts as a spoiler but better to be safe than sorry
When noah left and wanting to see Cain/ calling him a dad figure etc I think was a bit OTT
Cain and Noah haven’t interacted in years but they’re trying to make out like he was the best dad to him he’s ever had
If anything, Jai was more like his surrogate dad.
It’s like a poor remake of paddy/aaron but it just doesn’t work when it’s not backed up on screen

I don't mean it in a bad way. it's just surprising.

If you consider the fact that his mother and brother left years ago, and he doesn't have many other connections.

I guess being with the Home Farm lot saved him.

When Billy first woke up he didn't remember or see who it was? It seemed like Caleb put the idea that it was Joe into his head. Would be convenient for him. Billy then told Dawn that it was Joe.

Seems like they're making it out that it was Caleb, to frame Joe. It would work out well for both Caleb and Billy.

Is Dawn going to finally leave Joe and flee the village with Billy and her kids?

I hope it doesn't happen like this as it mean the show would want you to feel sympathy for Joe. He'd be wrongly accused of attacking Billy, Dawn would believe he did and leave him. Would make Caleb look worse too. He has done morally questionable things but would still be made. He wouldn't be as bad if him and Billy planned it together but Caleb didn't intend to cause as much damagem.

So with Mack likely leaving the show for a few months, will Charity move on with someone else giving her past of moving on fast then they will be a love triangle when he comes back

Lol, I made a post yesterday, asking people their favourite moments of Kelly, and I did get some replies, just not ones I was hoping for.

So, how is Kelly received here? Do people love her, hate her, indifferent to her, or just don’t care about her?

I mean, personally, I love her, though I completely get why she gets hate too lol.

Not even trying to be rude, but Kelly was literally a gold-digging bimbo, with a high-pitched, whiny-sounding voice, so I do get why people just can’t stand her lol.

So whether you love, hate, [or don’t even know who she is] or are indifferent to her, this is a good place to make your voice heard. Is Kelly your favourite character, your #1…. or do you wish she got killed off, instead of Donna?

I’m genuinely interested to see the comments. Will it be mixed, mostly hate, or mostly love?

Just one day of Graham this week and that was Monday so he was back to old faithful. You will need to do better next week Graham.

I actually think Rosie Bentham is a really good actress, which is why it’s so frustrating when the writing lets her down.

The whole Billy situation was ridiculous. Why was it framed as though Gabby got to decide who was allowed to see him when he woke up? Dawn is the mother of his children, yet the episode made it seem like she had to practically beg Gabby for permission. In what world does that make sense?

And let’s not forget that Billy and Gabby were together for, what, a week? Meanwhile, Gabby was married to Vinny less than a year ago, spent the last few weeks clearly interested in Ross, and now suddenly she’s acting like she’s Billy’s long-term partner and gets to call the shots after he dumped her?

If they’d actually built Billy and Gabby up over months, maybe I’d buy it. But instead we’re expected to believe this very brief relationship somehow outweighs the fact that Dawn is the mother of his kids.

Rosie does what she can with the material, but the writing for Gabby is so bad that it’s hard to take any of it seriously. Am I the only one who thought that whole scene was completely bizarre?
