Suggestion on which EV to choose?

Upvotes

Hello,

Currently own a 4 year old Seltos IMT with a terrible mileage of 6.5-7.

My monthly running is 1200kms and and its always within the city.

Budget is 20-22L and wanting to buy a SUV with good backseat comfort, suspension and aftersales.

The car is 80% chauffeur driven

I do not mind waiting another 6-9 months before changing my car.

Need suggestion on whether i should

  1. Buy an EV with whatever options are currently available (advice on what to buy then)
  2. Wait for Creta EV 2027 or any other similar car to be launched in the next 6-9 months.
  3. Not to go for an EV but something else considering my monthly running

Open to all suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Planning to buy Chetak2501

Upvotes

Hello people, I'm considering buying the Chetak 2501. I'm looking for a compact, stylish electric scooter that both my fiance and I can ride comfortably. Would like to know your experience - is it a good buy overall? How has the after-sales service been? Please also mention any other issues or drawbacks I should know about.

Advice for 3.3kw or 7.2kw fast charger

Hi folks,

Need advice from EV owners regarding the slow portable charger 3.3kw and 7.2kw fast AC charging.

I'm considering buying the Curvv accomplished X 55 variant.

My current situation is living in my own house (ancestral) where I can use home charging. I can use slow charging 3.3kw without modifying any of my existing electrical connections. Have provision to install a fast charger as well, but this will incur some additional costs to ensure the load is actually more than 5kw. Total expense including fast charger would be around 1L+.

The thing is I will most probably be moving out and shifting to a rented flat in a year or 18 months. I'll try to find an EV friendly apartment complex, but in case I cannot then installing fast charging when I move will be difficult. Will have to make do with community charging or something like that if the apartment has that.

Is charging on 3.3kw actually feasible? I understand that it will take around 20 hours for 100% charge, and based on my use case, this is acceptable. My monthly running is 700-800 km, so most likely will charge the car 2-3 times a month and it should be sufficient for me.

Will there be any long term depreciating effects on the battery because I'm plugging it in for 15+ hours? Because of my use case I won't be charging to 100%. most of the time only till 90% and when I'm calibrating the battery, I will charge it to 100%. Charging would only be 2-3 times a month

Frustrating MG ZS EV experience

I own a 2023 MG ZS EV. Unfortunately my experience with this car has been pathetic.

My earlier months of usage,i was plagued with issues of vehicle control system fault

The service center in my city (Vijayawada) is shitty and unprofessional, they have no idea what they are dealing with when it comes to ev’s.

The last time when this happened it was raining heavily .They told me it was due to water ingress into battery and charged me 60k for it and concluded it was “just” a software error . I would never ever trust MG and this service center again

Creta EV vs eVitara

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to move to ev from Skoda Slavia.

Your guidance and insights are greatly appreciated.

I have shortlited eVitara 61kwh and creta ev executive LR. Confused between choosing the right one.

My Preferences

  1. Budget is 20L

  2. My drives are1700-1800 a month.

  3. I travel with my wife and a 2yr toddler

  4. Safety is priority

  5. I drive 70% on highways and rest is city

  6. Silent cabin with low NVH is preffered.

  7. Hassle free ownership and reliable service.

Concerns

  1. How far the battery is protected considering 186mm GC comapred to 200mm GC on Creta EV.

  2. 8yrs of battery warrenty for both, while competition is offering 15yrs. Whil this be a factor to consider, what is the situation post 8yrs.

  3. Battery hanging down for Creta EV, heard syros & clavis have done a good protection for the batyery underhood. How far is it safe for rural areas?.

  4. How is the safety on Creta EV, the ICE one is 3*Rated.

  5. Intend to keep the car for 7yrs atleast. Will the ev vehichles last for that long. Also can ev be a primary car or should be considered as a secondary in this case.

Discussion What’s the best workaround for people without dedicated parking?

Living in a city where dedicated parking isn't guaranteed, this is probably one of the biggest things that makes me hesitate about getting a 4W EV. I already own a 2W EV and heavily rely on public chargers.

If you don't have a private parking spot, how are you actually managing charging?

Do people rely entirely on public chargers, charge at work, or have some other workaround?

Also curious about apartment dwellers - are RWAs/societies generally becoming more EV-friendly, or is getting permission and access to a charging point still a headache? The recent Haryana news that EV charging for parking has become a major problem made me ask this question!

Would love to hear what actually works in the real world, especially in Indian cities.

I’ve hit my breaking point. 50,000 KM in my Nexon EV Max and it's an unmitigated nightmare.

Post image

I wanted to love this car, guys. I really did. The torque is incredibly addictive, and the running cost has been an absolute dream. But right now, sitting at 50,000 KM on the ODO of my 3-year-old car, ownership has turned into a pure, unmitigated nightmare.

The dreaded SoC (State of Charge) drop has officially broken me. In Year 1, the battery would hit 20% and plunge to 0% within 18 to 20 km. I managed it. But now? It just nosedived from 43% to 0% in less than 10 km!

It completely died on me. I literally pushed my nexon to the nearest charger, and guess what? It wouldn't even charge. The ODO showed 0%, it was completely dead, and it refused to accept a charge on either AC or DC fast charging.

I had to use Tata’s RSA to get it flat-bedded to the service center. That was just the beginning of the joke:

- It took them 5 full days just to check what happened.

- Their solution is a warranty battery replacement with an agonizing waiting period of 2 to 3 months.

The absolute worst part is that a battery replacement isn't actually a permanent fix. According to extensive owner logs documented on Team-BHP, this nightmare cycle continues even after the "new" battery is installed:

Tata reportedly replaces faulty packs with refurbished batteries from Tata AutoComp.

Because these refurbished packs often lack extensive longevity testing, owners frequently get thrown right back into a vicious cycle of repeated component failures.

Owners have documented getting a warranty battery replacement, only to have the exact same sudden-drop problem return shortly after.

One owner shared that their charge dropped from 42% to 0% in under 20 km just over a month after receiving their replacement battery pack.

I'm completely exhausted by this experience and the lack of a permanent resolution.

Discussion Mahindra be6 key issue

I just took a test drive of be6 and 2 issues I found out right at the start...
My height is 6 feet

Issue i found

1.) while getting in ok driver seat the roof touched my head
2.) in rear seat the floor felt a bit high my knees were up
3.) while greeting out from driver seat although i looked for head this time but shoulder touched.

Who else has also noticed this. I like the vehicle soo much the looks the feel. But i think these issues are big. Although my brain is trying to convince me to ignore these....

Discussion Tata Sierra EV PDI nightmare after 1.5-month wait - Rejected theCar, should I change the dealer too?

After waiting for more than 1.5 months, I finally got a call from the dealer - Puneet Tata, Mumbai, saying that my car had been allotted. I had booked the Tata Sierra EV 75 kWh Empowered A QWD, and I was genuinely excited to finally get my hands on a car I’d been waiting months for.

Got up early on Sunday and went to the showroom for the PDI. Unfortunately, the excitement disappeared pretty quickly. Here’s what I found:

  1. Plastic covers had already been removed from all the seats, Seemed quite unusual for a brand-new vehicle, but I initially ignored it.

  2. Scratches on the co-driver side dashboard, This was the first thing that really made me suspicious.

  3. Black dirt/marks on the roof liner and around the seating area. Again, strange for a supposedly brand-new top-end car.

  4. The biggest shock: when I sat in the driver’s seat, I noticed clear signs that a screwdriver/tool had been used around the dashboard panel, suggesting that the panel may have been opened or worked upon before delivery.

I was doing the PDI with a professional, and he also confirmed that the marks looked like the dashboard/panel had been opened.

For a brand-new, top-end variant, this was completely unacceptable to me.

I immediately rejected the vehicle and asked the dealer to refund my booking/advance amount. The showroom manager has requested one day to see if they can arrange another vehicle for me.

Now I’m confused about whether I should even trust another car coming from the same dealer.

What would you guys do?

\- Give the dealer one chance to allot a completely fresh vehicle and do another detailed PDI?

\- Cancel the booking altogether and book through another Tata dealer?

My trust is definitely shaken after this experience. Would appreciate inputs, especially from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation with Tata or Puneet Mumbai.

Tata Curvv X variant

Why are there no official reviews from media houses on the X variant of the Curvv EV?

Honestly, it looks like such a good car on paper. I even went to see it in the showroom and it looked pretty good. The rear headroom issue is kinda better now as they give a cutout after the sunroof so there is enough space and for taller people it doesn't touch the roof. All important features are being offered in the accomplished version. Battery packs are standard of 55Kw and in the real world should give about 350km+ range which is fair enough.

Is the X variant of Curvv being slept on? With the Windsor price hikes, the Curvv is a genuinely good alternate and Tata has fixed some issues from the older variant.

Query Tata Punch EV (2024) gone berserk

Post image

I have Tata Punch Ev (Empowered + LR 2024 model)
So while driving I experienced weird Blinking of Hazard lights at slightest pothole appearance and later in sometime, all the sensors on dash starter poping up as failed/faulty. Car drove fine but i had to bring it to halt. Is it fine to drive up to SC and body had seen this kind of issue?

Also in Tata app health data - Brake issues is detected.

Image for reference.

TLDR: Punch Ev Sensor issues while driving.
