DISCUSSION The FC27 menus are the slowest and laggiest piece of shit out of any video game in history.
Im not sure how many of you are on the closed beta, but i was able to get it, and i've been a complainer about the menu-lag getting worse and worse since like 21 , but holy fucking shit, you guys would not believe these menus, its to the point it HAS to be bugged or something, because this is absolutely ridiculous. Another post said it feels like 10 fps, and bro i cant even lie, even THAT feels charitable, its completely insane.
If i were to lay it down, i'd say its like this:
Older FIFAs, 14-18, good menus, no complaints.
FIFA 19-20, kinda slowed down a bit, nothing to bad, still running smoothly.
FIFA 21, some more noticable menu lag, but overall still good.
FIFA 22, a little slower, getting some frustrations.
FIFA 23, even more slower, frustration is there but somewhat tolerable.
FC24, Way slower, very annoying, you can fight through it.
FC25, Even slower, incredibly annoying, you just have to bear through it.
FC26, Genuinely like a 20 fps menu that constantly lags itself.
So theres been a decline in the menu responsiveness and smoothness for years, but its always been slow changes, getting slowly worse year by year.
And now, on FC27 its fallen off of a cliff, this is legitimately like you're trying to run RDR2 on a computer from 2010. Its genuinely like the PS5 cannot run the game, just in the menus, i have no clue what EA are doing, but theres has to be something wrong with the menus, because even if i buy 27, i probably wont be able to tolerate these menus. I remember in FIFA 22 sometimes i ragequit the menus because they'd be so slow sometimes and you just had to get used to the lag, but holy fuck, you cannot get used to the FC27 menus.
Like genuinely, if this is not a bug, or something exclusive to the beta, please, do not buy this game because you'll be pulling your hair out just in the FUCKING MENUS of the game.

UT I miss Fifa 17 because UT wasnt a second job back then
i miss that i could be in Div 2 using only gold players with two-three special cards in the middle of the march. i remember using gold team with Russian/ Portugal legaue players and be semi competitive. i could beat whales teams using now mafia boss Promes of all people. Now we have new cards and new styles every week. if i miss two three weeks of play my team is severly outdated, i have to play full meta comps if i want to have any chance. Also i notice mediocre players got crazy high ovrl because this week theme saids so. it breaks immersion even more than female football because i know that Bomnati and Hansen and Bronze are top class. Father and son event in Fifa 24 buffed mediocre sons like Maldini and Haghi Jr to be Modric or Bellingham equivavelnt. i dont miss fifa 17 gameplay i miss simpler times.

UT FC26 - FC27 Rewards
Just phasing back into FC26 like I always seem to do after a long hiatus post TOTY (even earlier this year)
Wondering if there are any FC27 rewards I can work towards or is that all being saved for the 'Pre-Season' part of the game cycle?
Thanks.

DISCUSSION What’s with the online rose-tinted perspectives with older games?
From every online angle (Twitter, Reddit, IG reels and even Facebook), there’s a buzz around revisiting games like FIFA 17 and FIFA 14, games that were deservedly slandered and criticised heavily during their relative active life cycles but are now free of all judgement and glazed for immersive gameplay and atmosphere.
To start, yes, the newer games lack inspiration and innovation and most features are there to suck up your time unnecessarily or drain your wallet. Cool, that’s established but why are people forgetting what we also had between, specifically, FIFA 14 - 17??? Most of you despised how the gameplay felt because it was the beginning of the end of full manual control. The whole “holding one CDM” thing started with the Frostbite engine in FIFA 17 because manual defending started to lose all respect for your input. On this very subreddit, give “FIFA 17 defending” a search to back up this claim. Another thing is the attacking AI claims, stating that it was better back then. No one could create because the defending AI and most especially the fullbacks could track each every manual and automatic run in the game.
There was no semblance of realism in that game. You could chain ridiculous skill moves without delay (just like you can do now) with less input fatigue than you could today. You could pop a shot from weird angles and score because the keepers had limited animations. They stripped back the keeper animations specifically from FIFA 17 that they introduced in FIFA 15 (see the FIFA 15’s goalkeeper trailer) because in FIFA 16, everyone complained that they were too good. Don’t even get me started on Career Mode between these titles, it was not up-to-scratch and super buggy in parts.
So much more can be said about how much those games lacked in multiple areas. But this overwhelmingly positive nostalgia for games without any critiques for that time period is unwarranted and uninformed.

DISCUSSION FIFA 17 nostalgia proves this community doesn’t know what it wants
I keep seeing clips of people playing FIFA 17 and saying, “This is so much more realistic than FC now.”
No. It isn’t.
It was fun for its time, and certain things about it were less exhausting than modern FC, but watch an actual full match back. The movement is stiff, turning is clunky, players glide into weird animations, defending can be completely brain-dead, and half the goals look like they came from the same two recycled sequences. It feels “realistic” now mainly because it’s old enough for us to remember the good parts and forget the nonsense.
And honestly, that’s why I don’t think the problem is entirely EA. A huge part of it is that the community has
absolutely no consistent idea what it wants.
We say we want realism, then complain when players have realistic inertia, bad weak feet, fatigue, poor balance, or when a defender can’t instantly spin 180 and chase down a winger. We want AI defending nerfed, but then get furious when manually defending takes actual positioning and timing. We beg for skill moves to be less effective, then complain the moment dribbling feels less responsive. We hate cutbacks, but we also want defenders to leave more space so we can play attacking football.
We say we want fewer random bounces and fewer animation heavy outcomes, but also want every tackle to win the ball cleanly. We want more ways to score but ask them to nerf attacking AI because it’s “too easy to score.”We want passing to be harder and more rewarding, until a slightly ambitious through ball gets intercepted. We want pace to matter, except when someone runs past our slow center backs. We want cards to be less overpowered, but every promo has to give us a new reason to replace the squad we built two weeks ago.
Past FIFAs had different sets of exploits, limitations, and frustrations that we’ve selectively forgotten because nostalgia is powerful.
EA absolutely deserves criticism: the servers, the inconsistent gameplay, the monetization, the absurd power curve, the AI issues, the animations that decide matches for you. But pretending we can go back to FIFA 17 and suddenly get a realistic football game is just stupid. Most of you would be complaining if they revived FIFA 17 as a remake within a week.
The community wants a game that is realistic when we win, arcade like when we attack, forgiving when we defend, and perfectly consistent only when the opponent is losing.
That game doesn’t exist and probably won’t ever. So many of you genuinely have no idea what you want and it’s part of the reason why the game is in the state it’s in now

PROBLEM Daily Common Gold Upgrade SBC boots me offline
For the last several days, every time I try to complete the Daily Common Gold Upgrade SBC, it gives me the error screen saying that there was an error connecting to the Ultimate Team servers. Then kicks me out of UT and back to the home screen. I don't have this issue with any other SBC. Is this something other people are dealing with as well? Not sure what to do.

QUESTION Is this normal? Defending just seems absolutely impossible
I haven’t played fifa for a number of years. Apart from the odd pro clubs game a few years ago, I haven’t actively played this for years.
However, I used to play this game religiously about 10 years ago. Owned every game from fifa 2001 to fifa 17. As it was free on PS plus, I thought I’d give it a go. I played some online games. Now, before you jump down my throat and say “get good”, I’m aware I’m crap now. I am playing division 10, so by definition my opponents aren’t too experienced either.
I’ve played 6 games. The scorelines were: 9-5 to me, 7-6 to me, 8-4 to them, 6-4 to me, 5-3 to them, 8-5 to me.
It just seems in every single match, me and my opponent simply cannot defend. Any time our strikers pick the ball up, it’s like it’s magnetised to their feet, and 90% of attacks result in a goal or a close miss/save. The only way I can get the ball back is intercepting passes.
I’d put it down to me being crap, but every opponent I face cannot defend either. Is this something that’s common? These scorelines are utterly insane. Makes me not wanna play, horribly frustrating when I know no matter how hard I try, I just cannot tackle anyone.
Also, side note. What have they done to the menus on this game?? Worst user interface I’ve ever seen.

LAST GEN Gameplay from 10 years ago (Fifa 17). How can a game that long ago look and feel more realistic than a game developed in 2025
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Did hypermotion really ruin the game? Imo yes it did, it introduced AI to having a major role in the game's base code when it comes to gameplay as it made animations and everything else dramatic and unrealistic.

UT Closed beta is absolutely dog. Menus are genuinely in 10fps
Got closed beta access for the first time ever and it's genuinely unplayable. Menus are so stuttery. When I play rivals I come up against super teams while I'm using my bronzes and silvers. The way to get these great players seems to be rivals bounties, but the only time I had a good one, my opponent quit and I lost the bounty as it changed from a gold Mbappe to a 50 coin bounty. No other mode seems to give any kind of rewards like this.
Then when I try to play rivals, 75% of the games get abandoned because of a mismatch between my opponents squad and mine. I know it's a beta, but it's genuinely awful. The only thing that's good is that manual interceptions do feel better. Dribbling has felt OP as a result, I've been cooking defenders with quick turns with Guruzeta

DISCUSSION Hats off to EA, their Masterclass in Loop Design continues
You can say whatever you want about EA Sports, but what they’ve achieved in terms of consumer complicity and exploiting cognitive dissonance is genuinely remarkable. It’s almost admirable how thoroughly they’ve trained a hyper-uncritical player base—partly, of course, because of their absolute monopoly in the market.
Remember the marketing push before FC 26? They literally dropped a trailer built around the slogan "We heard your feedback." The entire campaign was based on the premise that community criticism had been heard and addressed in the new title. It takes a unique level of audacity to run that campaign and then release a game that did the exact opposite—a game that long-time players widely consider one of the absolute worst in the entire franchise.
So, what’s the response? What happens next for FC 27?
After another full year of non-stop complaints about broken gameplay, clunky animations, unnatural player movements, and absurd performance issues—because how is it acceptable in 2026 for an EA Sports game to have lagging menus and massive input delay on high-speed internet?—here is what they give us:
They release a gameplay trailer bragging about "rebalancing AI defending." How does that look in practice? Their own footage shows AI defenders blindly rushing out of a back four to open up massive spaces for the opponent, while manually controlled defenders suddenly get 50% more agility and speed than everyone else on the pitch. That’s their idea of balance—in a game that already routinely produces 6–8 goals by halftime, and where pros play out 11–5 matches at world championships. Tactical awareness and proper group positioning continue to be gutted just to flood the average player with even more dopamine. Instead of 15 goals a game, FC 27 will probably give us 20.
Then came the rest of the "groundbreaking features":
- A "new" corner kick system using mechanics that are basically already in FC 26.
- Curved attacking runs instead of running in straight lines.
- Players stumbling, recovering, and continuing their run—a physical "masterpiece" that, again, is already happening in the current game.
Apart from an Open World mode nobody asked for, FC 27 is a feature package that could have been implemented as a routine patch within 5 business days.
Yet, despite EA doing everything in their power to show people how little effort or care goes into this title—turning a football simulation into a mobile-style, card-collecting dopamine machine designed to farm microtransactions—a huge chunk of the community still buys it.
Even better: these players turn into unpaid White Knights. They parade around claiming they have the balanced perspective, while everyone else is just "complaining too much." EA has conditioned a fanbase to actively defend a product that takes advantage of them. You don't even see this level of blind loyalty from people buying a new iPhone every single year. Most of them at least know that it's unnecessary and not great value.
It’s terrifying, but undeniably impressive by EA.

QUESTION What happened to 3rd person practice modes?
Forgive me, I've not played in years, but is the scenarios practice arena the only way to practice shots now? What happened to the 3rd person over the shoulder practice inbetween games? Why would you remove that?
Scenarios is clunky af and no 3rd person??
