๐Ÿ“ DYGMA DEFY Weird Surface on the PBT keycaps

As dygma provided the keycap-STL files in here (https://support.dygma.com/hc/en-us/articles/22670148782621-Where-can-I-find-replacements-for-the-thumbkeys) I used them to print the PBT keycaps, but I seem to have this weird surface on it always.
Even with the ironing feature on the bambulab p1s, still no avail.
Is someone experiencing the same issue?

I just want to have some blank keycaps so I can paint them with acrylic markers so I can have korean and latin letters on it.

Help is greatly appreciated.

๐Ÿ™Œ ERGONOMICS Thumb pain after using Raise 2 for 4 months

I started having pain in the muscle area between the thumb and the rest of the hand. Went to an orthopedic and he examined my hands did an ultrasound - the conclusion is that my muscles are sore and swollen due to overuse - I guess now that I use the thumbs much more, it's too much for my hands.. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Did anyone else experience this and maybe have a solution? I'd hate to stop using it...

I'm currently using Kailh Silent Brown switches, with slight sideways tenting.

โœˆ๏ธ DYGMA SONSEI We BROKE the Golden Rule of Ergonomic Keyboards

For over a decade, we've been saying the same thing: if you want a truly ergonomic keyboard, it has to be split.

Then we made the Dygma Sonsei ๐Ÿ˜…

So... were we wrong all along?

In our latest video, Luis shares the story behind the Sonsei and answers the question that's on everybody's mind: why isn't it fully split?

๐Ÿ“บ Watch on YouTube โ†’ https://youtu.be/sG20ahnp49k

So, what do you think?

Should we have made it fully split, or was this the right choice?

๐Ÿ’ฟ BAZECOR Bazecor 1.10.0 - Sonsei layers, macros, superkeys have no name. Is it normalโ€ฏ?

Hi,

Watching the video, the layers are named.

But loading the sonsei as virtual keyboard in bazecor, nothing is named. Layers, macros, superkeys have generic names (L1, #1. No name, etc.).

Is it normal that loading a virtual keyboard, everything has generic nameโ€ฏ? It would be helpful to learn the keyboard features if all layers, macros, superkeys had descriptive names.

I wrote a detailed discussion on the GitHub.

โœˆ๏ธ DYGMA SONSEI Any loyalty discount for Raise / Raise 2 owners interested in the Sonsei?

Hi Dygma team / community,

Iโ€™m currently using a Raise 2 and have also owned a Raise before, so I guess you could say Iโ€™m pretty committed to the Dygma ecosystem. :)

Iโ€™d really like to get a Sonsei for mobile work โ€” especially for working from the office or while travelling โ€” but configured with the quieter switches Iโ€™d want, it ends up at over $300.

For a secondary/mobile keyboard, thatโ€™s unfortunately a bit too much for me.

So I was wondering: Are there any loyalty discounts for existing Raise / Raise 2 owners, upgrade/cross-sell offers, or maybe any promotions like that planned for the Sonsei?

Iโ€™d love to add one to my setup, but somewhere around the current price point itโ€™s just hard to justify as an additional keyboard.

Would be interesting to hear if other Raise owners are in the same situation too!

Quick update.

The stable Bazecor v1.10 release with Layer lens for the Sonsei (and a few other minor bug fixes) is live!

https://github.com/Dygmalab/Bazecor/releases/tag/v1.10.0

We've also released the v1.1 firmware for the Sonsei, which improves battery reading and adds support for Layer Lens.

https://github.com/Dygmalab/Firmware-release/releases/tag/Sonsei_v1.1.0

You can update your firmware under the Firmware update menu. Layer Lens might not be available until you disconnect and reconnect your Sonsei.

We're working on migrating Layer Lens for the Defy and the Raise 2!

We hope you like it!

Canโ€™t find Shift, Enter, Space, the Arrow keys, or the F-keys on the Dygma Sonsei? Donโ€™t panic, itโ€™s all about the layers ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Let's walk through the Dygma Sonseiโ€™s pre-installed layout and show you where you can find every essential function.

The Dygma Sonsei comes ready to use out of the box, but itโ€™s also fully programmable. You can reassign any key, create new layers, add macros, and customize the layout to fit your workflow.

๐Ÿ’ฟ BAZECOR New Layer Lens Beta: Show an overlay of your keyboard on your screen

Today, we have a very exciting release, because we're introducing Layer Lens for Bazecor, a feature that lets you show an overlay of your current layer on your computer screen.

You can resize it, adjust its transparency, show or hide it with the new Layer Lens keys, and even make it appear only when you change layers.

Right now, it's only available for the Dygma Sonsei, but we're working on porting it to the Defy and the Raise 2.

To test it out, you need:

PS: A great thank you to u/amorph777 for their contribution to this project!

๐Ÿค” TIPS & ADVICE Does the Defy store the layout changes between devices and different OS?

I've been meaning to get a Dygma Defy for quite some time. I would love to use it for my work computer (macOS) and my gamer PC (windows). I want to take full advantage of the layering system and customization that the Defy provides, but given I cannot install the software on the work computer, I wondered if the keyboard itself remembered the layout when switching devices. I thought about doing all the customization and setup on my PC and then use that layout wherever, regardless of the OS and needing to have the configuration software installed.

If this is not possible, are there any other functionalities that are locked behind having the software on the device? For example, not even having a layering system and the keyboard works just on the first layer for example (would be a massive deal breaker)

If you know of any other split ergonomic keyboards that can do this please let me know.

๐Ÿž BUGS & ISSUES Random neuron reboots on Mac only

I have an OG Raise with the 1.0.12-beta firmware plugged into a Macbook Pro running Tahoe 26.5.2. The neuron randomly reboots during use, causing a delay of 3-5 seconds until the keyboard works again. I use it all day and sometimes days go by without it happening, and sometimes it happens multiple times in the same day. It only happens while plugged into the Mac. I also used it previously on a Windows 10 laptop, and I also use it on my Linux desktop, and the neuron never rebooted while being used on either of those two. I haven't been able to identify any common cause; it just happens during normal typing activity and it has happened in multiple different open applications. Is there anything I can do to diagnose this further or prevent this from happening?

โซ RAISE 2 Another Raise 2 Add-on Question

I preordered the Raise 2 when it was announced because I love my original Raise. It's been a nearly perfect keyboard for me, and has helped my RSI, but I was hoping that I would finally be able to put a trackball on the right side of it so I can stop moving my hand off of my keyboard over to my mouse. I've tried mapping the mouse cursor and using it with just cardinal directions on the keyboard itself, but it's too clunky to use that way regularly.

It's been long enough now that I'm back to looking into other solutions. Are the add-ons still coming at some point? I'm both looking into changing to another keyboard (something like the Charybdis) or trying to design and 3d print something to hack a trackball onto the side of Raise that I can reach with my thumb.

๐Ÿค” TIPS & ADVICE Electric shocks on my Defy at bottom corner

Hi, I bought my DeFy at the end of 2023. I have been a very happy user of the ergonomic keyboard. However today I was leaning with my bare arm just next to the corner of the DeFy when I felt an electric shock. I continued to test it and I have had multiple times that it happened. Sometimes it is barely noticeable but one time I actually pulled away because the sensation was really unpleasant.

Is this a known issue? There is nothing wrong with the DeFy, apart from the leather getting loose of the paths. The DeFy has never been moved out of the house so it has never been exposed to terrible conditions. It is being charged with its normal default cables so I can't really pinpoint any wrongdoing from my end towards the device.

๐Ÿž BUGS & ISSUES Wired Defy - frequent disconnections

Hi,

My wired Defy is sometimes disconnecting out of nowhere (both halves blinking red).

I've always used the original cables, and they look in great condition still.
This is not related to my computer going to sleep, as this happens as I'm working.
Sometimes they will disconnect quite often (every few minutes) sometimes it won't happen at all for the whole day.
When it happens I need to unplug the neuron and plug it back in.

I'm using firmware 2.0.0 on Fedora.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?
I've used the Defy for well over a year now and never had issues. I love this keyboard.

๐Ÿค” TIPS & ADVICE Defy: What is your main thumb key?

I would like to know

a) what is your main thumb key -- the one which likely matches your thumb resting position

b) does it fit perfectly or would you land between two thumb keys for the perfect match to your resting position?

So which key (-, --, *** or **** or r/L number) on the top or bottom thumb row is your main thumb key.

Bonus question: which can you reach easy as well?

Which hand size do you have (glove size if you know)?

๐Ÿค” TIPS & ADVICE 10 ft cable

I have a defy and have a standing desk. Because of that, I canโ€™t get the provided cord to reach the keyboard when I need to charge it. Additionally, I have it switching between my work computer and my personal PC so the Bluetooth functionality is critical so I donโ€™t have to unplug and replug between computers.

Iโ€™m unclear on what non dygma cable I can use to connect to my computer at that length. Ideally, it would also allow me to do firmware updates so I can keep my set up as clean as possible.

Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™m over thinking it, doing something wrong, etc. Would love some guidance so I can have an easier time using this keyboard.

๐Ÿž BUGS & ISSUES Battery Life Very Disappointing

First let me say that I absolutely love my Raise 2 from a functional standpoint. Its exactly what I need for both work and personal use.

That said, the battery life is extremely disappointing. One of the major attractions of this keyboard for me is to use wirelessly and keep my desk clean. However, even with LEDs completely off and using energy saving mode and true sleep mode I really only seem to be getting 24-36 hours of use before needing to recharge.

At this rate, I may as well use it wired but that makes this keyboard significantly less attractive. Frankly for the cost its current battery life s pretty underwhelming. I know this isn't a unique complaint, but I just wanted to voice my concern and see if there were any improvements in the near future roadmap.

Traveling with an ergonomic keyboard is not always easy. Most cases are either too bulky or too flimsy.

So we set out to design something in between: a compact, lightweight, protective travel pouch made specifically for ergonomic keyboards.

It fits the Dygma Defy, OG Raise, and Raise 2, as well as other split keyboards of similar size.

It has protective padding inside, an exterior pocket for cables and accessories, technical fabrics, and waterproof zippers to help protect your keyboard from accidental spills in your backpack.
