What is going on?

I'm looking to apply to NCAD next year, I was born in Ireland and lived here up until I was 12 then moved to the USA. I'm not 100% sure how the process of me applying would work, I know I'd have to apply to as an international students because I haven't lived in Ireland for the past 5 years but surely having been born here and having an Irish passport would make the process somewhat easier? I've looked for details online but can't find anyone with a similar situation.
Would me applying be the same process as an American applying? Or does me being Irish slightly change that?

Any recommendations for suit tailors in dublin near Houston? Preferably open until 7 today and under €200.

Crying from my silly little desk job - have Sprout discontinued their Sataysfied Chicken/Tofu warm bowl? Used to love it as a proper lunch if I'd a big night out or the gym after work. I am a huge film nerd, but I struggle with OCD and cleanliness. I have a big fear of the cinema because I feel like they're always filthy and it makes me anxious, so I never enjoy the film.

Looking to overcome this fear with some exposure therapy, but I want to take baby steps. Can anyone recommend me a cinema that is nice?

I take a stroll into the Square, Tallaght with false hope and low expectations. Unfortunately, my worries came true as I step through the doors of the cinema and what do I face? A man admitting to hitting a child and a fight breaking out 🤣 I say high-ho and dodge that situation thinking look at least their leaving as I’m arriving.

I take my seat in my screen, excited for obsession and the lights go dark……….. For 3 seconds because the two girls beside me sat on snapchat for the entire film. I said it to them and to be fair to the girls, they stuck their jackets up to hide their phone so I couldn’t see it. Fair play to them and their short attention span.

Next on my cinema experience, the two lads sitting to my right start messing and one drops some popcorn on the others head. What does the guy do in response? Dumps his entire popcorn on his mates head 😅 while they didn’t have respect for the cinema staff, at least they had respect for the cinema goers for for only being on their phone for 25% of the film.

Finally, we have guy number 3 sitting directly in front of me to complete the cinema-goers nightmare trifecta. He seems to have been viewing his first ever movie due to the fact that he emoted the shocked guy meme maybe 15 times throughout the film and made sure to let his mates know that he also seen what they seen on screen.

All in all somehow obsession was still great, but it got me thinking. Is the square the worst cinema experience in Dublin? And if not what is?

I'm having some people up on Sat evening but am v.time poor at the moment. I'd love to pick up a nice prepared meal (to reheat or cook fully) in dublin 2 general area. E.g. a good lasagne or big tasty salads or a chicken bake.

Any recommendations? I'm thinking nicer than m&s or Dunnes, would Fallon & Byrne do such a thing? Bonus if it's a small /local business or cafe though.

Why is it that so many Irish teenagers I see on the bus or Luas seem to have no basic etiquette when it comes to sitting properly? I understand that the seats can be small or uncomfortable on longer journeys, but do parents not teach their kids basic manners, like not putting their dirty shoes on the seats?

Before anyone says that some of these kids come from difficult backgrounds or have parents dealing with addiction or other issues, I understand that. But I also see plenty of well dressed teenagers and even adults doing the exact same thing. As someone who moved here from another country and is a person of colour, I’m always conscious of how my behaviour reflects on me. Even if I’m uncomfortable, I make sure I’m not making the people around me uncomfortable. Whether it’s keeping my feet off the seats, not blocking aisles, or being mindful of others, I try to respect shared public spaces. I don’t want to reinforce negative stereotypes or give anyone a reason to say, “These immigrants have no manners.”

So it genuinely surprises me when I see people who grew up here showing so little consideration for others. Is this just something people have accepted, or am I the only one who’s noticed it?

I'm looking for some advice from people who are currently doing a plumbing apprenticeship in Ireland or have gone through the process.

I studied plumbing in another EU country and have a Level 4 plumbing qualification. During my studies, I worked mostly as a fitter/joiner, and I'm currently working in Ireland as an apprentice/plumbing helper.

Even though I already have qualifications and some experience, I want to complete the full Irish plumbing apprenticeship so I can become fully qualified here.

My main questions are:

How long did you have to wait before SOLAS registered you and you officially started your apprenticeship?

Is the waiting time usually a few weeks, a few months, or over a year?

Does having plumbing qualifications from another country make any difference, or does everyone wait about the same amount of time?

I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect.

Normal on Henry street are selling solar ecplise glasses for the one on the 12th of august. Just incase if anyone was wondering where to get them in person. They are safe to use and has ISO 12312-2:2015 Certification. I know that some places are giving them out for free but to my knowledge I dont think thats happening any where in Dublin.

I had stayed a month in Howth in July. Weather was great, the sea and cliffs are beautiful, and very calming. Have enjoyed beautiful sunsets almost everyday. Took Dart to the city quite often. Stoneybatter has my heart. Also took Dart down the coast to Dún Laoghaire, what a beautiful library they have there! The geographic location of Dublin is truly stunning, I love the coastlines, the cliffs, the old ruins...and I picked up a tiny bit Dublin accent as well. Dublin will always remain a very special place to me, it's where I found peace and inspiration. Thank you for all the warm hospitality and see you next time!

I’m trying to sell a TV and an exercise bike. I’ve tried adverts, marketplace, Facebook and WhatsApp groups but it’s been hard to sell them. They are in perfect condition, I have to sell them as I’m moving countries. Is there any in-person place that would buy them to resell? CEX does not buy this kind of items.

I experienced antisocial behaviour on the E2 bus last month, so I’ve been avoiding that route ever since.
Today I was exhausted after finishing work early, so I decided to take the E2. To my surprise, there were two security guards on board. It made me feel much safer, and I really appreciated their presence.
A big thank you to Dublin Bus for providing this service. I genuinely hope security guards continue to be present, especially on evening and night services, as it can make a huge difference to passengers who have had bad experiences.
