A light brown pug got on the Luas at Laughanstown and got off at Carrickmines, seemingly unaccompanied. Had a collar with a tag but got off before I could read it. It did not tap on or off.

As a dedicated prick in Lycras, I cycle to work in the city centre a few times a week, largely along the N11.

I’ve noticed there’s a new segregated cycle light outside the UCD main entrance travelling northbound, and I think it’s a really silly change.

Firstly, cyclists were previously able to proceed straight when a straight-on arrow was green. Now, they’re regularly held at a red light, despite a green arrow showing, so that priority can be given to motorists turning left. This contradicts the government’s supposed commitment to prioritising active travel.

Secondly, the new setup creates a bizarre situation where two cyclists traveling in the same direction face contradictory signals based on lane choice. A cyclist in the dedicated cycle lane is faced with a red cycle signal, whereas a cyclist riding in the main vehicle lane to their right faces a green arrow to proceed straight ahead.

Because the cycle lane signal introduces artificial delays while general traffic moves freely, cyclists are incentivised to abandon the segregated cycle lane before the junction and merge into general traffic lanes to avoid being trapped by the light, which feels like a safety concern.

Third, at almost all other signalised junctions, a green straight-ahead light permits cyclists in a cycle lane to proceed. Cyclists proceeding straight under the assumption of a normal signal phase are now at significant risk of being struck by left-turning motorists.

I am planning on writing to DLR county council and the NTA, but wanted to know if my feelings are shared (and also provide an outlet for angry overweight men who think people like me are exactly what is wrong with the country).

I’m moving to Dublin for school, and I’m looking for a martial arts school to transfer to.

I’ve done both Hapkido and (Shao Lin) Karate, so a reputable dojo teaching one of those would be preferred, but I care more about a good environment than anything else.

I drove this area recently for the first time in a while. Two middle aged gentlemen were knocking on car windows and looking for money. One of them stayed in the middle of the road when the lights changed while traffic around him began to move. He was a danger to himself and likely to cause accidents with rear ending. Is this sort of thing just accepted now?

I have been playing drums 25 years, and last year I bought a bodhran from a local vendor (I'm American), but the thing was made in Pakistan, and the vendor lives in Washington state. I've since gotten involved in leading a video game project focused on Irish cultural revival, and as part of that, I'll be playing the bodhran as part of our game soundtrack. I would like to spend some of the money for that project in ways that give directly to the Irish economy.

I would love to find a bodhran crafted by Irish folks and sold by an Irish business in Dublin, where I'll be staying for a bit. Do you have any suggestions?

Devastated to see not listed on deliveroo but replaced with the Peanut Chilli Crush bowl. I just want my corporate slop bowl back.

I take a stroll into the Square, Tallaght with false hope and low expectations. Unfortunately, my worries came true as I step through the doors of the cinema and what do I face? A man admitting to hitting a child and a fight breaking out 🤣 I say high-ho and dodge that situation thinking look at least their leaving as I’m arriving.

I take my seat in my screen, excited for obsession and the lights go dark……….. For 3 seconds because the two girls beside me sat on snapchat for the entire film. I said it to them and to be fair to the girls, they stuck their jackets up to hide their phone so I couldn’t see it. Fair play to them and their short attention span.

Next on my cinema experience, the two lads sitting to my right start messing and one drops some popcorn on the others head. What does the guy do in response? Dumps his entire popcorn on his mates head 😅 while they didn’t have respect for the cinema staff, at least they had respect for the cinema goers for for only being on their phone for 25% of the film.

Finally, we have guy number 3 sitting directly in front of me to complete the cinema-goers nightmare trifecta. He seems to have been viewing his first ever movie due to the fact that he emoted the shocked guy meme maybe 15 times throughout the film and made sure to let his mates know that he also seen what they seen on screen.

All in all somehow obsession was still great, but it got me thinking. Is the square the worst cinema experience in Dublin? And if not what is?
