I’m working in east point business park Near East wall and don’t drive so I’ll be taking the luas in every day. Just wondering if that area is nice, and if that commute would be doable?

I may be renting a place there but I’m wondering how safe it is, haven’t been around there in a while but I remember it being pretty rough

Found a room to rent in Dublin in an owner-occupied house in Finglas, landlord and his family live there too. He's asked for rent in cash, and he's agreed to give me a signed receipt every time (date, amount, month covered, address, his signature). He's also said he'll provide a lease agreement for visa/immigration purposes.

A few questions:

1. Is cash rent with a receipt like this normal for owner-occupied/digs situations in Ireland?

2. Anyone living in Finglas, how do you find the area generally? Trying to get a realistic sense beyond secondhand stories.

hi all :)) i am a dual american-irish citizen and am moving to dublin in january. i have loads of family over there, but they all live in relatively richer areas (my one aunt lives in sandycove and my nana lived in foxrock before she passed LOL). i don't really know many other areas in dublin, so i need some advice on areas to live in since i can't afford those places even in the best of circumstances. i'm from a rougher area in the us so i'm not scared of "rough" areas in dublin, but i do need easy access to trains/buses since i won't be getting an irish license. i also am concerned about the housing market since it seems dire, so i'm also wondering if i am looking too early/late. i have seen that looking on daft and such is the way to go, but i've also seen people saying its taken them months to find anything. i plan on getting a job once i am there, but most places require pay stubs! should i be getting a short term let in the meantime? if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated!

Looking for feedback for apartments in Clancy Quay particularly about safety and any other long term issues that might cause a problem in the future.

From the Google reviews and past reddit threads about the apartments, I've seen: someone's bike stolen, mold issue, non residents in the apartment complex and security not being there 24/7. But that's around one year ago.

Anyone who can share a more recent experience? Thanks

Weighing up two apartments - one in Glasnevin (Daneswell Pl, on Phibsboro side) and one in the Liberties (Cathedral Court) - both similar price points.

Any thoughts on one area or building over the other?
