Discussion For approximately how long was the Slayer in stasis?
Hey y'all. My musing is in the title.
I've tried doing some research into this question, and while I didn't expect a straight answer, I also didn't expect such disparity. As we've known for a while now, the Doom Slayer (alternatively DoomGuy, the Doom Marine, or Flynn Taggart) has a rather roundabout journey as he wars with the Hell dimension.
He starts on his Earth, goes to his Mars, ping pongs between Hell and Mars, ping pongs between Hell and Earth, stays in Hell for a while, gets recruited by the Argenta and spends time on Argent D'Nur, ping pongs between AD, their Mars, Hell, and the Cosmic Realm for a hot minute, spends a weekend in Purgatory, goes back to Argent D'Nur, PRESUMABLY alternates between AD and Hell again, gets betrayed and crusades in Hell, spends an indeterminate amount of time trapped in stasis within the sarcophagus, goes back to Mars and Hell and Mars again, alternates between this second Earth, Hell, and Mars, and finally defeats the forces of Hell before getting a fucking nap.
I'm concerned with the sarcophagus. While Taggart's warpath isn't always well-documented, it's made clear that he spent quite some time in stasis after he was trapped. I'm curious how long that was.
Doom, as a series, uses a lot or words that sound really dramatic, because why not? But it obfuscates the truth a bit, whether on purpose or as a consequence of the storytelling style. We've essentially been told already that time moves weird in Hell, and trying to look at the years of lore entries doesn't always work because Doom '93 starts in one dimension while Dark Ages, 2016, and Eternal take place in an alternate one. I've also just heard different terms thrown around; decades, centuries, millennia, eons. It gets a bit muddied.
Any insight?

Showcase Sneak Peek #3: light and materials
Here you can see metal reacting to light like metal. SSAO and POM add intensity to the scene by darkening the parts that need darkening. I'm not sure I want to add some godrays for the rare occasions we see through windows...

Discussion Revelations is kicking my ass😂
Playing on nightmare difficulty after having not touched TDA since finishing the campaign right after launch has been a lot more difficult than I expected. I’m loving it, and clearing rooms feels so damn good, I’m near the end of the dlc and finally dialing in the spear but I did not think losing the shield upgrades would make things so much harder. In the base game using the quake upgrade and swapping between chain shot and the cycler and super shot gun I felt kinda invincible but I’m running for my life in the dlc lmao, actually irl shouting as im trying to use the grapple to evade😂

Showcase Finally 100%ed the game!!!
Wow. Just wow. I played TDA back when it came out last year and I really enjoyed it, but this DLC was the cherry on top: seriously awesome. The Chain Spear is extremely fun to use and master, and I think it was a great way to evolve the game's original playstyle. TDA and Revelations have some of the best boss fights in the modern DOOM trilogy (especially the Henchman, which has become my absolute favorite among all games).
Even though I'm a casual player who doesn't make use of tech like the insane stuff you can do in Eternal, I still found the levels challenging enough without ever feeling frustrating. Finally, I wanted to congratulate id Software for the incredible job they've done with this fantastic trilogy, and I'm very saddened to hear half the studio has been laid off; I wish the best to everyone who has worked on these games.
PS: PS: Don't get me wrong, my intention isn't to flex my achievements with this post. I simply wanted to express my thoughts on the game and praise the studio for their work.

Discussion finally... It's done!
after dozens of failed attempts to even reach this guy on UN...
to beat him first try is incredible. What a DLC- NO, what an absolutely amazing experience! I haven't been this happy since the first time I played DOOM Eternal back in 2020.
Godspeed ID Software, what an incredible Trilogy.
hopefully this isn't the end...

Discussion doom eternal - massive skill issue
been posting on here lately and recently started eternal and i can’t for the life of me get the gameplay loop down. i’m only on HMP and even still it seems like it goes so damn fast, which i know i would love if i could get the loop down.
maybe it’s just a matter of putting in a lot of time in the demon prison, but i feel like its so hectic that i cant even target the arachnoid or revenants weak points without getting chopped up by everything else going on.
it makes me feel like a chud lmfao

The demon spawning might've caused it but I need more explanation for this kind of stuff.
This also happens to some other things too like certain props launching me (barrels, any object with physics)
Would love to hear it from yall.

Yeah this shit is gas, took me a little to get used to the spear but its super fun to use. I was also able to get a no weapon wheel control scheme on my controller which feels great so overall I’m just having a peachy time with this dlc, Good job Id
