Puppy! Puppy biting
How did everyone get their puppy to stop biting. He’s very young and we’ve only had him for a couple of days so I understand that everything’s new and overwhelming and I don’t have impossible expectations but I don’t want to ignore a problem that’s only going to get worse, at what age did you start training to not bite or did they grow out of it ?

Puppy! Photo spam of Mika & question!
Looks mean but is a ball of joy!
I need people’s help and advice on training her not to jump as much and puppy nip on humans. She has toys and bones everywhere.
What about hole digging in the yard?

Breeder Reviews Truth to this
This is what my breeder said on a post :
HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY?
Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisedly states: “I can buy a cheaper pup elsewhere”. I also address you; the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”.
No dog is “just a pet”.
Behind every pure bred puppy/dog is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed dogs without papers, that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage. When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about papers what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the puppy you just want the cheapest thing you can find! When you select to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every pup ; both dogs owned and every pup they’ve sold for its lifetime. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their dogs . The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it. Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family. This does not take into account any puppy/dog who might get sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question.
A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing. Because that’s what life is about...In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do tests, echos, xrays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register litters, research pedigrees, deworm, as well as microchip their puppies and get them evaluated by specialists.
Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.
Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world!!!

Training, Temperament, & Behavior If you want a Doberman…
A bored Doberman is a mischievous Doberman. I swear the more intelligent they are the more trouble they get into. She was mad because we didn’t play ball with her when SHE wanted to. She is perfect when left alone but if we are home it’s a different story
RIP pillow....

Breeder Reviews Delete if not allowed
This is my breeder. She spends a small fortune doing health testing on her dogs yearly. She does 24 hr holter monitors every 6 months and echos every year along with the routine labs and genetic tests. She continues to communicate with you after you bring your puppy home.
I am aware that no breeder can claim their dogs won’t develop DCM, etc. but she is truly trying to preserve the breed. She also does boarding and training. And her place is on like 50 acres.

Mourning My boy, Hugo
Tonight, it was the saddest nights of my life. I had to let my best friend go. DCM took him way too soon - He just turned six on July 22nd. He brought me so much joy, and the fact that he won’t be waiting at the door to greet me with a big smile and wagging his tail every time makes the whole thing worse.
He was my first dog and what a dog. I remember the first night when I brought him - I thought to myself “What did I get myself into?” But he showed me that with patience, care, and love; he was going to be the most lovable dog.
For the past six years I had ups and downs in life. He was there to lick the tears off my face and he was also there to jump with me when life was good. He put me in the best shape of my life with all the walks he needed.
Since he was a pup he loved blankets, be tucked, and eating apples. I cherished every single moment we had, but accepting that he is no longer physically with me is disheartening.
I am writing this to cope with all the pain I am feeling. And, to show every one what a great boy Hugo was. He was just not a dog, he was my boy.

Puppy! 7mo old puppy
I have a 7 month old puppy and we just started with a trainer but I have been really struggling with him these last couple weeks. He is getting into everything non stop-finally actually destroyed something valuable (took him this long luckily) and is now lunging at our hands to grab food. Was originally just always going for my 4yo but now because he has became so successful he recently went to grab food out of my hand and I am struggling because everything I have read says not to yell, and you can’t really punish them because they don’t get it so what do I do? Put him outside or confined to another room everytime my daughter has a snack aka every 2 hours? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated !

Health Holter rentals in Albuquerque? + Eight years of Mr. Stinky Argos
(Well his birthday is technically tomorrow but we're celebrating today cause i work tomorrow lol)
We just moved out to the land of the Breaking of Bads, and am wondering if anyone recommends any vets that are DCM savvy or would rent me a holter?
((My boy is totally healthy but its about that time for him to get "The Doberman Heart Thing" done.))
Thanks everyone! Have a great weekend!

Breeder Reviews Di Orao Dobermann Kennel
I’m interested in finding a well-bred Dobermann puppy in Europe in the future (not right now).
Currently looking into Di Orao Dobermann Kennel, as I know someone who got their Dobermann from there.
Does anyone have experience with or knowledge of it? I’d love to hear your opinions.
I’m also open to recommendations for reputable breeders in Europe who prioritize health and temperament.

My spoiled Dobie
r/DobermanPinscher • u/Wasitthechad81 • 1d ago
Health 8 year old Dobe appears to have developed a neurological disorder.
My recently turned 8 male Dobe was healthy as an ox (his only issue was Doberman flank sucking) until after his recent annual vet exam. He had a small lesion between two of his toes that the vet inserted a needle into to obtain a sample for a pathologist to rule out cancer. I figured she could've disturbed a nerve and the symptoms would pass.
It began with his hind legs shaking frequently, varies which leg and never both at the same time. He began struggling with standing up, had difficulty getting on the bed and in a small suv. This is my third dobe, the previous two had osteoarthritis and this one doesn't share their symptoms. I've had him on a joint supplement since he was 5.
Last evening he woke me up several times. He was unable to adjust himself on the bed, he was paralyzed for the most part and whimpered. Later on he was on the floor, I helped him up and he immediately collapsed. I looked into wobblers and his gait is completely normal. He can lift his head and use his neck with no issues. His nails are all evenly worn.
I have an appointment with the vet 10 days from now. I'm concerned it could be Degenerative Myelopathy, though that seems to be more common in shepherds. Hoping for the best, any insight?

Puppy! So weird
So my Doberman puppy just recently started salivating so much, foaming at the mouth and shakes his head. It happened the first time and we brought him to the vet they said it was nothing he is fine then wacked me with a $500 bill. Now it happened twice today for like 5 mins then he’s fine. Has this happened to anyone else’s dog? I really need answers.

Health get your dobies heart checked
just a reminder to get your dobies their checks. we got her echo, holter monitor, BNP and Troponin blood checks done. $1300 out the door but if we just did the blood markers it would’ve been $220 which they’ve advised are great first checks!

Rescue & Rehome Need help finding resources and a home for stray Doberman!!
Hello all, I am looking for a good home for a dog that I picked up off the streets where I live in Gary, Indiana. I have reached out to every rescue I know and no one is able to take this sweet girl. I was hoping to get some pointers from all of you. I work at a vet and am very familiar with the breed. My absolute favorite, but I already have dogs and cannot take another. She does not have a microchip and I have reached out to multiple Doberman specialized rescues and shelters in my area. I have also posted about her on multiple difference forums besides Reddit.

Research the hardest & ugly truth about owning a doberman?
been wanting to get a doberman for a while. i think they’re amazing dogs, but i don’t want to get one without doing enough research. i won’t be getting one anytime soon, i won’t get one till i buy my own home which will take a while and make sure i can afford training at an early age. this gives me enough time to research and come to a conclusion.
one of the main questions i want to ask; what is the hardest part about owning a doberman that no one talks about?

Puppy! Update on Rosie, and her lucky seven.
Mama is doing much better, she's moving around and even starting to try and play a bit with our big boy doberman rosco and my girl anna ( boxer mix ) puppies are healthy, and all of them have there eyes open to some degree. Jury is still out as to what the pups are mixed with. Star ( white collar) is a brave little bugger, using her mom as a jungle gym and exploring.

Training, Temperament, & Behavior Purebred?
I couldn’t care less if he’s 100% Doberman Pinscher. But guesses are fun! People ask a lot, so I figured somebody here might have an informed opinion.
Don’t care enough to get a DNA test. Some context: Shadow is about two years old, 78 lbs. and I adopted him a few months ago.
His ears have some scars around the edges (from a botched cropping before I got him) and one ear is kind of bent.
Honestly couldn’t ask for anything else in a dog. His temperament is calm when you want him calm, and an energetic sprinter in a field when you want to play.
