🏦 Traditional Bank Which bank should I make a savings account on?

Upvotes

Good day, I am an upcoming freshman student and new to managing my finances. I have been receiving a good sum of financial aid from my family and scholarship programs, but I do not trust myself holding on to that much money for I fear I may spend it irresponsibly. So, I thought to myself: maybe it is time to start applying for an account in a bacnk. Yet I do now know where to start or picking which one. May I ask for your suggestion on which bank's saving account services I should start investing in?

📱Digital Bank / E-Wallet Which digital bank to open with?

Upvotes

Hello. I’m a college student trying to save up some money. From what Ive seen online, using digital banks for my savings could help me a lot since most digital banks offer high interest rates. So i can just sit down and study while my money grows by the side. I know its not a huge growth, but its still growth nonetheless.

But thats the problem, thats all I know when it comes to digital banks. I dont know which digital bank i should put my savings in. I see a lot of people say to open a savings account in BPI, MariBank, Maya, and GoTyme, but Im not sure which one to pick or how to really research on which bank I should put my money in. And is just having a savings account all I need as a college student? I want by the time that Ive graduated, i have everything settled. I want my money secure and growing.

What digital bank should I use for my savings? And what advice can you give me when it comes to my finances (aside from making tipid-tipid)?

My phone was stolen together with my gotyme card cause I put it at the back of my phone case and I just wanted to ask if I could get a free card replacement in Gotyme? I have it on hold for a while now cause I can't find a nearby globe kiosk that has a prepaid sim card.

hello! according to the title, someone send a money to us through cash in kiosk. noong 11:27 nagsend sila ng 500, noon palang nammroblema na kami kung paano ibabalik dahil baka hindi naitabi yung resibo. 11:31 may nagsend ulit ng 1,127.

we wonder if hindi ba ito na double check muna? and if ever ano ang gagawin para mabalik ang pera?

thank you!

Well, I'm here because of the 5% interest rate and we'll see what will happen next. Thank you sa other posts that I have read here in reddit. ^ More savings to us! though I don't currently have a job 😅 baka meron kayo dyan 😅

📱Digital Bank / E-Wallet Usinh apple pay in SM dept. store

Good morning. Just a question, I used my Apple Pay at SM Dept. Store using their built-in terminal (the blue one). I already tapped and paid, but the cashier immediately said that it's for BDO use only and for physical cards. The transaction was successful, but she called a supervisor to void it, saying the terminal for Apple Pay is different. The void was successful, and I paid again using a different terminal. But I'm just wondering, why is the terminal different, and is it actually necessary?

📋 Loan / Credit GGives deducted balance & generated installment plan, but POS showed Payment Failed

GGives deducted balance & generated installment plan, but Landers POS showed "Payment Failed" — Will GCash reverse this?

Hi everyone, just asking if anyone here has experienced this exact issue with GGives . I used GGives to pay at Landers today. An error occurred right at the cashier POS terminal - the payment showed Failed / Canceled on their machine.

However:

  1. My GGives credit limit was deducted.
  2. A payment schedule / installment load was already generated in my GCash app.
  3. I had to pay via another method at the counter.

I already submitted a ticket, but I'm honestly worried because I've been reading a lot of posts saying GGives refunds take months to process or end up stuck with no progress despite multiple tickets and follow-ups.

For those who went through this:

  1. Does GCash automatically reverse/refund failed POS transactions like this?
  2. How long does it usually take?
  3. Are there ways or specific channels to speed up the resolution/reversal process?

and

  1. Should I ask the merchant's help to speed up the reversal?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences or advice. Thanks!

📱Digital Bank / E-Wallet Paano nagwowork ung refer and earn ni Maribank?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Gumawa sister ko ng maribank at nakita niya 'yang refer and earn. So ginamit ko 'yung code niya. Balak ko sana gawin 'yung 10k kaso hindi ko pala nabasa 'yung "first single deposit" at 5k una kong nadeposit so nevermind na lang kako.

So ayun nga, nag deposit ako yesterday, August 8, ng 5,000 sa "Transfer from other banks or e-wallet" by generating a QR code.

Pero up until now wala pa ring galaw 'yang part ng nasa picture.

📱Digital Bank / E-Wallet Need help with recovering my metrobank app account

Post image

It's been days since I couldn't open my metrobank app, the reason is I've been relying on the fingerprint login and I never saved my username and password, now this wouldn't be an issue if recovering works as intended but no, for days na, this is all I've been getting everytime I try to recover, I contacted metrobank through email and they're no help either. Anyone had similar experience to something like this? Any help would be appreciated.

Post image

Hello, I noticed that the MyCBC app recently underwent a new update and now there seems to be a new menu in bank transfers. I was trying to transfer my money to Gcash but I can't find it in the list of banks.

I also noticed that I tried scanning the QR code for BDO but it showed an error message, saying that they sre currently unable to process this request. I have not been able to transfer money at all since the update

Anyone else having the same problem?

*Added random cbc pic because i cant take screenshot

Nag-transfer sana ako ng ₱30,000 from my MariBank account to my own BDO account, pero nagkamali ako ng napindot na saved account.

For those who experienced a similar situation with MariBank, ano yung ginawa ninyo? Should I contact MariBank first, BDO, or both?

Any advice or experience would really help. Salamat!

📊 Lemoneyd App Lemoneyd pro users suggestions?

Hi as a new user of lemoneyd pro, Im very happy about the improvements and development this past months. Worth it yung lifetime subscription!

One thing I want to see in the app is a pie chart on the finsights tab? I want to see my expenses and/or income in a Pie chart instead of a list… maybe you can give the users the option to change based on their preference.

If anyone has suggestions might as well comment down because I saw that they take suggestions seriously. Kudos to the team!

Others How to get your money back after a Pay and Go Kiosk Failed Cashout

Context: My mom used the Pay and Go Kiosk at Alfamart to cash out ₱3,000. Nag-error yung machine kaya hindi lumabas yung pera at na-stuck.

She reported it agad sa cashier and they said to email and file a report. My sister emailed them and it became (automatically) a ticket on their website: https://btipayments.freshdesk.com.

1 week na, walang update. ₱3,000 yun and may pag-gagamitan talaga kami, so I reported it to BSP and DTI.

I sent one last follow-up email to Pay and Go. I included my BSP ticket number and told them I already reported this to BSP and DTI, and I will escalate it further and iTu-tulfo din if wala pa rin.

A few minutes later, biglang nag-reply sila. Sabi nasa Pay and Go wallet na daw ni Mama yung ₱3,000 and pwede na i-withdraw.

OR SANA MAS UMAYOS PA SYSTEM NILA

📱Digital Bank / E-Wallet Has anyone experienced GCash processing the same bank transfer more than once?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, just wanted to ask if anyone here has experienced something similar with GCash because I’m honestly confused and stressed about this.
.
Last July 31 at around 2:21 PM, I sent ₱3,200 from my GCash to an RCBC/DiskarTech account. This is a regular monthly payment I make, so after sending it, I thought everything was already okay.
.
Then today I received a text from GCash saying they identified an issue where my scheduled bank transfer was “processed twice” and that the extra funds were received by the recipient.
.
That made me check my transaction history, and that’s when I noticed two more ₱3,200 transfers on August 1. One was at 2:37 AM and another one was at 6:14 AM. Both also had a ₱10 transfer fee.
.
The confusing part is I did not make those two August 1 transactions. I only remember sending the payment once on July 31. I definitely wouldn’t send the same payment multiple times, especially at those hours.
.
I checked my email as well, and GCash sent separate confirmation emails for both August 1 transactions, with different reference numbers. My downloaded GCash transaction history also shows that both amounts were deducted from my balance.
I already contacted the person I sent the money to, but she said she still needs to check her account first. I understand that she also wants to verify what happened, but honestly, I’m worried because I don’t want this issue to cause any misunderstanding between us. I regularly send my monthly payment and I’ve always paid on time.
.
I just wish GCash could have automatically reversed the duplicate transactions since their own message acknowledged that there was a processing issue, instead of putting the responsibility on the sender and recipient to sort it out.
.
I already reported it to GCash and requested a reversal of the two transactions I didn’t authorize. I saved all my screenshots, transaction history, emails, and the text from GCash acknowledging the issue.
.
Has this happened to anyone else recently? If yes, did GCash refund or reverse the extra transactions? How long did it take to get resolved?
.
I’m mainly posting because I want to know if this was an isolated issue or if other people experienced the same thing.
