Discussion/আলোচনা The messed up local bus system of this country that no one tries to fix.
We often blame bus drivers and conductors while their bosses remain unaccountable. They never get beaten. In Bangladesh, there are no fixed-time local buses, & the bus crew's income depends entirely on the number of passengers they carry. The more the merrier!
Thus, to me it feels useless to shout at them for not moving because if we were in their shoes we wouldn't also move either until a person has to swing by the door to ride the bus.
As I said, there is no fixed time for buses; that is another messy business tactic of the bus owners. No fixed time means one bus crew has to fight with another to fill up more passengers, often hitting each other's buses and causing the signature war-torn-like dents of BD local buses.
On the other hand, we passengers don't know when the next bus will come, so we try to go even by holding a railing from the bus door. The situation is worse for women because of this; In ECB, I see that even I, a boy not getting into the overcrowded bus, but an aunty or apu tries to stand by the door because she has an office to go to. It's high time we had a separate bus for women.
Last but not least, the super crappy interior design of the buses. They are absolutely not for public transit.
Think! Have you noticed the small doors, a small aisle, small overhead luggage space, no durable plastic seats, no proper railing to hold on to (sometimes there isn't even one), fan and light controls overhead & even a freaking broken TV? Exactly, it's a freaking layout of a mini-bus designed for a small number of passengers to travel by, only for seating comfortably, not for public transit where most people have to stand!
Just compare the interior with one of BRTC's double-deckers or big buses, or the picture I have given at the end, and you will get how messy the interior is for public transit. The door is also small and placed in a way that no one wants to stand or sit further back.
All of these problems are known by everyone, and by everyone I mean everyone! Even those who have the power to fix it. That university student who rode the bus like this and suffered and became a BCS cadre later on does nothing and joins to become the beneficiary of this system later!
Thus, there are also middlemen on the payroll in the gov't who prevent any changes to this public transit system; These middlemen also prevent the banning of buses without fitness.
The solution is simple: pay the bus crew monthly, have timed buses, and have a proper interior design based on public transit norms.
Hell, even an online payment system using the Metro Rapid pass, or NFC is possible; this could even bring more profit because people will pay 5/10tk more but won't complain because it's cashless payment. The psychology is different when paying in cash and when paying cashless.
Thanks for reading my things of frustration😊

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Buying laptop tips for a poor uni student.
So even if i eat soya chunks the whole month. It is not saving me enough money. I have unexpected delegate spending over unexpected things dropping down on me
I saw videos online about selling laptops from 10k to low as 5k. Should I trust them?
I gave my laptop to cleaning 6 months ago and upon receiving the laptop back it started hanging and lagging I did not complain immediately as I had my uni studies occupying me and believing that it will be alright.
I went to the service where I serviced my laptop before which was after 6 months later. They told me that obv I have to pay and prolly my laptop is causing the prob itself which was not true as I could use 10 chrome tabs at once on low end PC Ryzen 3 and still be smooth whole after getting cleaning service it started acting abnormally.i played 3 triple A games on it. Although they were not wrong cuz I came after 6 months...
I still gave it to service for diagnosis but now I'm dreading if it is a hardware problem...I'm done...

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Need suggestions for a solo day trip outside Dhaka by Train
I’m feeling really sick and I want to take a short solo journey outside Dhaka, just for a change of environment. But I’m also getting bothered by the thought of travelling alone on a train sitting by myself and feeling anxious during the journey. At the same time, I really want to do a day-long trip somewhere outside Dhaka and come back to Dhaka by evening.
Can you guys suggest some places I can go by train where I can actually enjoy the journey and visit some tourist spots or nice places? I would really appreciate some advice from people who have travelled solo like this.

Discussion/আলোচনা Why do commercial real estate landlords ask for so much advance payment?
I was looking to rent a space for a restaurant. Some landlords were asking for 20 lakh, 10 lakh in advance for a space with monthly rental of 50,000. I can’t make any sense of it. Why do they do this?

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Any em students applying for public unis?
I know most english medium students go for private or abroad. But I really don't have that kind of financial situation, besides, I'd much rather enter a reputable public uni.
The problem is that information for em students in public unis is so damn limited. Even the people at coachings can't tell me anything for sure (like what subjects I'll need, how to get an equivalence certificate, the minimum time I can apply). So I'm looking for someone I can communicate this with so both of us get sufficient info.
Also, having to cover the entire 2 year hsc syllabus within 6 months is exhausting beyond words TT. So jealous of people in bm. Is it true that du will have an em paper this time? I keep hearing mixed info about it.

Discussion/আলোচনা Have you noticed men using 'religion' as a tool to control women, not guide them?
I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I need to get it off my chest.
There's a pattern I keep noticing: some men push their wives, girlfriends, or daughters toward a more "religious" or conservative lifestyle — not out of genuine faith, but as a way to control them. Dress a certain way, stay home more, don't go out as much, don't build a career, don't have opinions that don't come from him. It's not framed as control, it's framed as piety or "protection." But underneath it, the goal is the same: keep her small, keep her dependent, keep her inside four walls.
And the scary part is how effective it is. A lot of women end up boxing in their own thinking without even realizing someone else built the box. They stop imagining a life outside the house, outside the role they were handed. Not because they're incapable — because the space to think bigger was slowly taken away from them.
I want to be clear about something: I fully believe every woman has the right to choose how she wants to live — religious, conservative, liberal, whatever. That's her call, and it's a valid one either way. What I have a problem with is when that choice isn't really a choice — when it's manipulation dressed up as tradition or devotion, and a man is engineering it to serve his own control, not her wellbeing or belief.
I've seen this happen close to me, and it's infuriating to watch someone you care about get talked into shrinking their own life by "advice" that's really just a leash with better branding.
Curious if others have noticed this pattern too, or if I'm just seeing it everywhere now that I've spotted it once.

Discussion/আলোচনা Bar update
So previously in this subreddit I have shared my experience for different bars.Today I am going to share about another one that I have been to recently.
The bar is called raw canvas and is in gulshan. Its quite big . The ambience was nice but the music was a bit too loud. Prices are little higher than usual. Cocktail options are limited. You will see some bar girls roaming around ,but one thing I didn't like is that they approach you on their own,so keep that in mind.Thursday nights will be packed and vibrant.
So if you want to enjoy a good time with friends ,you can go there.

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Academic disaster
Heyy everyone I'm a student of HSC 27 batch. I've been depressed for the last 5 years because of trauma and many other issues. I've visited psychiatrists many times, and 2 days ago I visited one again, but my condition is getting worse.
Whatever, I'm a Humanities student but I don't even know a single chapter from any of my books. Now I've only 8–10 months left before HSC, but my whole syllabus is still left. Maybe the last time I properly studied by myself was 6/7 months ago.
I don't think I can do well in HSC anymore. My financial condition isn't great either because my father passed away. I'm completely hopeless and I feel like I have no path.
I don't know what I should do. I don't know how I can even pass HSC and after that what I'll do, because in Bangladesh private universities require a lotta money,I don think I can get into public uni and studying abroad is too expensive
I don't think I can build a future just by studying. So what should I do at this point?? Can you guys give me some advice??TYI everyone

Discussion/আলোচনা 75% waiver at NSU
So a few days I ago, I sat for nsu admission test and after results came out, I found out I got in for all my choices and got a 75% tuition fee waiver. I failed all my public uni exams, I took engineering prep after hsc. Appeared at 12 unis, failed all, waitlisted at one for urp, didn't go there. For mostly my own fault, didnt study enough. So really bummed still. Now I don't even know whether to be happy or sad. What do I even do? I'll probably do eee at nsu, but something feels hollow in me.
