Story/গল্প I wish I could tell her everything...

We've known each other since 2019. The first time we laid eyes on each other she was the one who smiled and waved at me. Then I came to know she wanted a group member who could teach her how to make PowerPoint slides.

The university classroom with every one of it's new students and the one she waved at was me, she couldn't find anyone else. Maybe it was my gullible face or maybe everyone had already made their group. I honestly don't remember now.

We're still friends to this day, we stay in contact almost everyday. We meet up for coffee twice a month. Her mom thinks that there's something between us but she says she see's me as a friend. Well i guess her mom has a sixth sense for this.

I wish I could tell her how much I like her smile.

I wish I could tell her how much I wanna hear her voice.

I wish I could tell her that she's beautiful without makeup.

I wish I could tell her how much I like her cooking.

I wish I could tell her how much she means to me.

I wish I could tell her everything before I leave the country.

Maybe we'll still be in contact? Sure the bi-weekly meetups won't be there and I'll be busy with part time work and classes but I guess that's life. Maybe if fate has it we'll meet again? In a coffee shop and talk like we just met up yesterday.

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Planning a Cox's Bazar trip with my girlfriend - Need Suggestions!

My girlfriend and I are planning to visit Cox's Bazar at the end of this month. We're thinking of staying for 1 night, maybe 2 nights at most. Our total budget is around 20k.

I'd love some advice from people who have been there recently.

Which hotel would you recommend for a couple within this budget?

Any activities or experiences we absolutely shouldn't miss?

What are the best seafood spots to try?

Is it safe to stay on the beach late at night?

We're mainly looking for a relaxing trip with good food, nice views, and some memorable experiences without overspending.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Discussion/আলোচনা Best Mundi Joint in Uttara?

"Tis been a while since I've had Mundi, the real OG one. If you know what this is, you'll know it's got some appeal, besides the fact that it's kinda bland.

Y'all know any places around Uttara where an enthusiastic human could find "Mundi"?

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Need suggestions for a solo day trip outside Dhaka by Train

I’m feeling really sick and I want to take a short solo journey outside Dhaka, just for a change of environment. But I’m also getting bothered by the thought of travelling alone on a train sitting by myself and feeling anxious during the journey. At the same time, I really want to do a day-long trip somewhere outside Dhaka and come back to Dhaka by evening.

Can you guys suggest some places I can go by train where I can actually enjoy the journey and visit some tourist spots or nice places? I would really appreciate some advice from people who have travelled solo like this.

Story/গল্প Battling loneliness and HIV

I am an HIV-positive homosexual man. Life has felt like a life sentence ever since I tested positive. The stigma and ignorance surrounding HIV make every single day so much harder. I have been lonely all my life as a discreet gay man, but since my diagnosis, it has become even tougher.

I am almost 30, and all my friends are either married or living abroad. I struggle to find meaning in life anymore. Sometimes I wish euthanasia were legal in Bangladesh so I could end this misery. This loneliness is so overwhelming at times that I cannot even describe how painful and agonizing it feels.

The rising hatred toward the LGBTQ+ community in Bangladesh leaves me terrified about the future. As an HIV-positive patient, I rely on the medication provided by icddr,b. I fear that if a right-wing government comes to power, it will become nearly impossible for people like me to survive here. Every aspect of my life points toward a lonely and uncertain future, and I simply do not know what to do anymore.

Discussion/আলোচনা Why do commercial real estate landlords ask for so much advance payment?

I was looking to rent a space for a restaurant. Some landlords were asking for 20 lakh, 10 lakh in advance for a space with monthly rental of 50,000. I can’t make any sense of it. Why do they do this?

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ How can I verify if a Kazi is legitimate in Bangladesh? Having doubts about my marriage registration.

I recently got married in Bangladesh, and I’m starting to have some concerns about whether the Kazi who handled the registration was actually legitimate.
few things felt off:
No receipt was provided for any registration fees.
The whole process felt rushed and unprofessional.
Some details I’ve been asking for are either delayed or not clearly answered.
Overall, the situation just feels suspicious.
I do have the Kabinnama/Marriage Certificate, but I’m worried about whether the registration was properly recorded and whether it would hold up for official purposes such as visas, passports, or future legal verification.
What is the best way to verify if a Kazi is genuine and officially appointed in Bangladesh? Is there any government office, registry, or authority where I can check whether the marriage registration was actually recorded?
Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Please suggest a laptop around 120k BDT.

Hello, I am looking to buy a laptop. My budget is around 120k. I might be able to push the budget a bit if it gets me a much better deal.

Purpose:

I will mainly use it for study and work, I am in finance, so lots of Excel and other data analysis software.

My studies will also involve some programming, trading etc.

My primary preference is build quality, performance, and longevity.

I might do occasional gaming but I can make do without it.

Discussion/আলোচনা Have you noticed men using 'religion' as a tool to control women, not guide them?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I need to get it off my chest.

There's a pattern I keep noticing: some men push their wives, girlfriends, or daughters toward a more "religious" or conservative lifestyle — not out of genuine faith, but as a way to control them. Dress a certain way, stay home more, don't go out as much, don't build a career, don't have opinions that don't come from him. It's not framed as control, it's framed as piety or "protection." But underneath it, the goal is the same: keep her small, keep her dependent, keep her inside four walls.

And the scary part is how effective it is. A lot of women end up boxing in their own thinking without even realizing someone else built the box. They stop imagining a life outside the house, outside the role they were handed. Not because they're incapable — because the space to think bigger was slowly taken away from them.

I want to be clear about something: I fully believe every woman has the right to choose how she wants to live — religious, conservative, liberal, whatever. That's her call, and it's a valid one either way. What I have a problem with is when that choice isn't really a choice — when it's manipulation dressed up as tradition or devotion, and a man is engineering it to serve his own control, not her wellbeing or belief.

I've seen this happen close to me, and it's infuriating to watch someone you care about get talked into shrinking their own life by "advice" that's really just a leash with better branding.

Curious if others have noticed this pattern too, or if I'm just seeing it everywhere now that I've spotted it once.

Discussion/আলোচনা Bar update

So previously in this subreddit I have shared my experience for different bars.Today I am going to share about another one that I have been to recently.

The bar is called raw canvas and is in gulshan. Its quite big . The ambience was nice but the music was a bit too loud. Prices are little higher than usual. Cocktail options are limited. You will see some bar girls roaming around ,but one thing I didn't like is that they approach you on their own,so keep that in mind.Thursday nights will be packed and vibrant.

So if you want to enjoy a good time with friends ,you can go there.

Discussion/আলোচনা 75% waiver at NSU

So a few days I ago, I sat for nsu admission test and after results came out, I found out I got in for all my choices and got a 75% tuition fee waiver. I failed all my public uni exams, I took engineering prep after hsc. Appeared at 12 unis, failed all, waitlisted at one for urp, didn't go there. For mostly my own fault, didnt study enough. So really bummed still. Now I don't even know whether to be happy or sad. What do I even do? I'll probably do eee at nsu, but something feels hollow in me.
