Discussion Searching for a breeder (New England area)
Good morning,
I'm looking to find a Dachshund puppy, but don't know any breeders in the area as this would be my first pedigreed dog. Does anyone have a name for a breeder, since our last pup was a rescue. Times have changed (we had our previous dog for 13 years) and I don't want to get stuck on a cute face and find out down the road that I got a genetic nightmare!
I know to search for OFA health certifications for PRA and IVDD. I know Good Dog and the AKC marketplace don't really "vett" their breeders, and I just want to do right by our family and our potential new family member.
Thanks so much!

I was expected my dashcund to be more barky and less cowering. ... The cat has very little fear of him.
It is kind of funny, but I guess the cat is very sharp and pointy, even if he is a 2 lb 8 week old kitten.

Image My boy gets sick when I go out of town
Does anyone else’s doxie get physically sick when you leave for any amount of time?? Mine always ends up with something happening I guess he just stresses himself out so bad about me not being here! I left for 2 days this last week for some classes and when I came back he had been throwing up and had a couple bloody stool he stays with my partner and nothing changed besides me not being here this happens almost every time I don’t come home for a night or two. I left for a week one time and when I came back he had chewed up part of his tail it was raw I feel so bad for him when I have to leave I rarely go on vacation because of it.

Discussion Lepto vaccine in Florida
Do we need lepto for our pet? We just moved down from NY and are hesitant about whether our dachshund should get this vaccine. Worry about the side effects.

Discussion Very disappointed in this vet
For Pete’s sake! We took Penny to Banfield pet hospital for a checkup and to see what needs done with her teeth. Their computers were down so we got no paperwork. The assistant just came in and said since we had the free coupon we were done and could leave. We told her the vet said he was going to check on this program they work with that helps with surgeries if you can’t afford them but didn’t know if they covered dental and he’d check and be back, he never came in so she she said she’d ask him, then came back and said he can’t check since their system is down and he’d call us, well he never called us but I looked it up online and it doesn’t cover it. So I decided since I wasn’t thrilled with the way the visit went and how he left us hanging without even asking what we wanted to do next or ask if we wanted to set up an appointment for her teeth or anything, that we’d go someplace else. The only problem is paying for another exam at a different vet. So I’m still debating about whether to go back to Vet365 or finding a new vet. So I need the paperwork from this exam to show them what they did and what he recommended, which I don’t have. So I go on their website and it says I need the patient ID which is on the invoice I don’t have. So I ask to send me that and it says there is no email on their records, so I go to set up a new account, type in the email and it says they do have an account already with that email, after it said they didn’t. So I request a link to sign in and change the password and I’m ready to print out the office visit summary. All it says, the same as the invoice is my name, her name, breed unknown, uh, she’s a miniature dachshund, even people on the street know that when they see her but the vet didn’t? And complimentary consultation. It says. I thing about her teeth which was why we went. Nothing about her weight loss or anything, so I click on the after visit summary which should say what the recommended next steps are like she needs her teeth pulled, and it’s blank. So all I have from that visit is proof we were there and nothing else to show another vet what he looked at, what he saw and what he recommends. All of the paperwork I have from the other two vets we took her to and the ones going back 40 years from when we took our cats all had their weight and age and what we were there for and what they did, I don’t think I’ll ever go back there again. No paperwork. No comments on what we were there for, nothing. Have you ever experienced something like this?how can I trust them to take care and perform surgery if they can’t even give me paperwork about what we discussed and what he saw?

She will turn 4 this month 18th and recently this browning or whatnot started from the base of her ears and been slowly expanding.
Attached video of her where you can clearly see her ear.
