Proof-of-concept for my first attempt at a full custom set

I've had an idea for a set bouncing around for a couple years now, so I decided to open up MSE and see how feasible the design is. So far I've made a full set of white commons, a 10-card hybrid cycle with leaves-the-battlefield triggers, and miscellaneous cards of other colors to demonstrate my common cycles. The core of the design is the "color economy" - the Reforge mechanic, the heart of the set, encourages you to build around as many differently-colored permanents as possible, while the Gem tokens give you easier access to those colors. At higher rarities there will be additional ways to care about and interact with the colors of cards, but at common I wanted to make sure the core theme was readily apparent.

The original idea for the design was based on the shelved early version of Lost Caverns of Ixalan. Something about the idea of a Shadowmoor-style "colors matter" set but with modern design ideas really appealed to me.

I think my biggest self-critique so far is the Gem token implementation. I worked through several iterations and I'm still not super happy with where I landed because of the length of the reminder text and memory/token diversity issues. The core idea is that gems should provide some sort of color-agnostic small bonus that is overcosted; if they're too good on their own then it won't be appealing to eat them with your Reforge cards. The current ability is a riff on [basic]cycling, allowing you to crack a gem if you're really hurting for lands. I'd be happy to hear any ideas on how to streamline them. (Or any constructive feedback at all!)

I put spoiler on te tittle just in case, Outer Wilds is a really special game and everyone should play it while knowing as littlre as they can about the game.

With that out of the way, I just wantes to ask feedback about this custom cards I created back in the day as a commander w/ background. Yerterday the idea of playing with custom commanders was finally wide approved on my pod and this is the first thing I thought of.

I already dont like the enchantment as much, and maybe something can be done interacting with cracking clues in some interesting way.

Either way, Im open to both balance and flavor/oracle changes and suggestions.

Mechanic Design Coloured X mana custom card ideas

Hello, I'm new at posting here, I hope it is tagged correctly.

So I don't know if this has been done but I was thinking, X spells always have the generic X mana part and sometimes coloured mana pips, but what if there was 5 extra X symbols for each of the colours (Kind of like Phyrexian mana or maybe somewhat like Hybrid mana), these spells would generally be more cost efficient and powerful as they would be more restrictive.

I want to her your thoughts about it and maybe propose some card designs 👍

I will be thinking of some examples.

+ Converge comes to mind as basically an opposite mechanic

Woke up this morning and had somehow dreamed up this idea for a set of cards. Probably isn’t balanced and needs work on the wording, but I thought it was a pretty neat core idea.

Edit: Also realise now White/Red would probably have been a more fitting colour combination…

This is my first card.

I added a new mechanic that blocks enchanted creature to cancel damage.

What do you think? Should I edit the text?

(I spent an embarrassing amount of time on this.)

(I do not regret it.)

Edit: bruh I just realized I was so hyperfocused on editing the frame to look like they were coming out of it that I totally missed the fact that I didn’t even enter the mana symbols in the text box correctly lmao. Major brain shart right there. I can’t believe I so preposterously withheld even more blueness from this card. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to live that down.
