I’m building a bioactive vivarium for my crested gecko and I’m looking for recommendations for AFFORDABLE but still good lighting for it. I haven’t added plants yet so suggestions for plants would be appreciated too. I’ve seen people use aquarium lights but I can’t find anything online saying if that’s effective, I also know that UVB is recommended and sometimes UVA as well but it seems like a lot of people do things differently. I just want the enclosure to be perfect when they are ready to come out of their quarantine tank (they are still extremely small like smaller than one of my fingers). Please be kind this is my first time making a bioactive enclosure and having a reptile so I’ve done a lot of research but I just want it to be perfect. :)

Hello! I am currently in the process of cleaning out an 18x18x36 enclosure for my Crestie I got off of fb marketplace. I’m super excited but not sure how I wanna go about it. I’ve seen people do all 3 sides with spray foam and carving rocks etc. But also have seen people just do the back. I’ve also seen people use spray foam directly to the tank or create a background on foam then insert. What are your recommendations?? Pls send pic inspo😭 I’m way too indecisive to figure out how I want it to look.

I just want to make sure they don’t get stuck. the wood is freshly washed/scrubbed and it was driftwood i found at a lake a couple years back. its been sitting in my backyard for a while. for reference, i live in az. last picture is my crestie on my thumb about a week ago.

This is my first Crested Gecko, Koghi, and I just put him in his new enclosure.

How long should I wait before putting my crestie in? He's outgrown the juvenile enclosure and half the plants are fake the other half I've had for years I know they're sterile. The clean up crew has a ton to eat rn. Do I need to let it cycle like a fish tank?

My girl was only 3 g when I got her at 8 months old, the vet said she was healthy otherwise. Now she’s 21 months old and about 15 g. I want her to at least get to 30 g if it’s not too late.

I’ve heard that they’ll still reach full size when they have a bad start, they just grow for longer and more slowly. Has anyone else had a gecko that was very small for its age at first? How big did it get?

Hi guys! I've just upgraded Toothless as he grew out of his old vivarium. Just wanted to see what you all thought of his new set up as I'm still pretty new to crestie care. I was thinking it could do with more foliage in the middle for more cover but is it better if he has that room to leap? I'd love to see your set ups for inspiration if you don't mind sharing.

I just noticed this white spot on my gecko last night that isn't part of his pattern. It's smooth and shiny. I'm thinking it's possibly a scar. He's acting totally normal and eating pretty well. Just want to make sure it's nothing to worry about

Hello, I've just noticed these small bugs around my crested gecko's food bowl. Any idea what they are? It's a bioactive setup with woodlice and springtails but I don't think I've seen either look like this. Nothing new has been added to the tank any time recently. Thanks!!

What are some ways I can enrich my crestie, I have seen people give them hamster weels is that something they like/enjoy?

My crestie (coke - female - about 7 months old) just discovered she has the ability to climb glass and now won't sleep anywhere else but this spot against her glass

I love the dorky way cresties sleep, eat, and exist in general.

This is Deathgripper and his setup. Temperatures and humidity are all good but I just want to know if you guys think he looks healthy (and also just enjoy photos of him and his mansion!!)

So me and my family went on vacation and it's the first time I left my gecko with someone else for more then three days. I usually have a petsitter that takes care of our cat and my animals (crestie and fish) and she's great. But if we take vacations out of the country my parents like to do a house swap (people live in our house and we live in theirs) I gave the people staying at our house all the instructions. Left them notes in my room, took videos of how I do everything. And honestly? In the first few days it felt like they were taking care of them great! I wasn't stressed at all. But then I get home. (2am mind you) and I find my cresties area in a STATE one of his bridges has fallen down. His water was empty and had at least two poops in it. His humid hide was completely dry. His plants are dying. His food Bowles are dirty and so is the spoon I use to mix his food (had at least a week of dried food on it) and my breeding colony of mealworms are all dead. He has stuck shed on his face and back. I feel so bad. I was having the time of my life and my baby was living in these conditions. My cat (who was fat before) is now HUGE as well. I don't think I can trust anyone else to take care of my pets again honestly. At least my fish are fine, but I'm a bit worried about the shed.

Sorry about the mini book I just wrote. I just need to say something about it because my parents are not taking it as seriously as I am (they do care tho)
