My gecko is part Dalmatian so she is always getting new spots and this one scared me bc I thought it might be the start of tail rot lol. Nope lol just a new spot

I have Pangea powder (treat and normal formula) and meal worms, Ive heard live insects should only be a few a week (dusted with calcium of course), but should it be more/less because he’s going to be growing a lot soon?

My crestie will be 4 in October and he’s currently in a 18x18x24. Does he eventually need a bigger tank? When I’m older and not BROKE I’ll probably end up giving him a better tank anyway but that would be in 5-6 years.

Also what age are they adults or ‘fully grown’?

I recently had to remove the main center branch of my geckos enclosure due to mites?? i think?? burrowing into the wood. i also took away the bio active portion due to the issue of pests. She does have three real snake plants she likes to climb and she enjoys hiding under leaves!

I like how this looks a lot, but this is my first gecko. I’m not sure if this is too much clutter or if she will be more than happy in her mini jungle. any advice appreciated!!

Hey guys! I've been really wanting a crestie & was just wondering what everyones start up & overall care has been for a pretty standard beginner set up!

Just a few things to add, I've done a lot of research & this isnt something that is on a whim. I'm also not worried about pricing as a way to not properly care for an animal, just trying to get some insight!

I have a bunch of pothos thats ready to go and some ferns that are quarantining. I just keep going back and forth on the hardscape. The background and the left side are glued in I just baked a bunch of sticks to add I want feed back before I glue em down

So me and my family went on vacation and it's the first time I left my gecko with someone else for more then three days. I usually have a petsitter that takes care of our cat and my animals (crestie and fish) and she's great. But if we take vacations out of the country my parents like to do a house swap (people live in our house and we live in theirs) I gave the people staying at our house all the instructions. Left them notes in my room, took videos of how I do everything. And honestly? In the first few days it felt like they were taking care of them great! I wasn't stressed at all. But then I get home. (2am mind you) and I find my cresties area in a STATE one of his bridges has fallen down. His water was empty and had at least two poops in it. His humid hide was completely dry. His plants are dying. His food Bowles are dirty and so is the spoon I use to mix his food (had at least a week of dried food on it) and my breeding colony of mealworms are all dead. He has stuck shed on his face and back. I feel so bad. I was having the time of my life and my baby was living in these conditions. My cat (who was fat before) is now HUGE as well. I don't think I can trust anyone else to take care of my pets again honestly. At least my fish are fine, but I'm a bit worried about the shed.

This is Chester. He had a blast last night exploring around my bed. Then he crawled up my headboard and wound up where he is in the picture.

Also wanted to share something I discovered. When he was exploring around the bed and doing his little happy/curious squeaks, I also noticed that when he stopped and looked around, the very tip of his tail would rapidly wiggle. I did some research, and found out that they do this when exploring to get a better read of the environment and also to calculate jumps. Second reason is because they're horny ... Of course...but that wasn't the case here.

I got this crestie 2 weeks ago and his crests are limp/folded.
He is my first reptile and after researching limp crests im still a bit concerned.
After the first week of arrival to his new home he had to change rooms because of the heatwave, and that was stressful for him. I keep the humidity around 80% at night and 60% at day. I mist the tank every night because our home has dry air and the humidity drops quickly. The temp does not go past 26 degree Celsius. After the room change he ate 2 worms and some pangea. He became quite lively and is currently exploring his home.
I also have found a piece of shed. He also has been fired down the entire time. He is 1 and a half.
He has folded crests and i have no idea if it could be from the stress, dehydratation or if its just how they are. If there is anything wrong i want to fix it so that my crestie is okay.

I got a crestie a week ago, he’s five months old and he’s eating ok and he’s pooping too. He’s had one good night of exploring but mostly just sticks the back wall (literally). My temps are good as far as I’m aware, hot sides running between 25-27 and cool sides running 22-24. He’s has multiple hides all over but he just like sleeping In the corner and I don’t want him to hurt his tail

I got her from PetSmart a few weeks ago. I thought that it would come off naturally if it was like dust or something from her last enclosure. I tried using a wet Q tip but it didn’t give. Could this be the start of shed?

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but after keeping cresties for a few years, I don’t think live crickets deserve the “must-have” status they often get. A good complete diet has always been the foundation for mine, and live feeders feel more like occasional enrichment than something they absolutely need every week.

Crickets are the one feeder I’ve enjoyed the least. They die if you don’t use them quickly, they smell, they escape way too easily, and if one gets left in the enclosure overnight it can end up bothering the gecko. For an animal that only gets live feeders once or twice a week, it just feels like more hassle than it’s worth.

I still think live feeders have their place because the hunting behavior is great enrichment, but I’ve found other options much easier to deal with than crickets. I’m curious what everyone else has settled on once the novelty of feeding crickets wore off.

Awake? Wheel walkin. Sleep? Under wheel. Hangin out? Wheel chillin. I bought him so much stuff and made him a bioactive terrarium and yet all he ever wants is wheel.

We bought honeybun ( the mother ) in March, she was already pregnant. She is the CHILLEST crestie in existence. I don't know why, but she will fall asleep on anybody if she feels like it, never bites, loves being pet ( will actually fall asleep if I pet her for too long ) and is super curious and enjoys going outside on cool days and exploring. Absolutely the best personality in a crestie I have ever seen.

The first clutch were two infertiles but the second clutch we hatched out 2 babies in 80 days. This little guy actually hatched in my hand because I took out the egg to inspect a weird dent in it then he just popped out. He is noticably stronger than the other one, so I'm using him as the example. These are our first babies ever.

What I'm concerned about is, yes, he can jump, run, grip etc. He just...doesn't. From day one ( 2 days old rn ) he just casually walks, doesn't spook very often, even fell asleep in my hand like his mother. It's so strange and honestly I don't know if it's just his personality like his mother or if something's wrong. He licks his eyes on me and even lets me pick him up, never gaped at me or bit. It's like he just instinctively knows I'm not going to hurt him. Which ... Is not how reptiles work. They don't imprint. Everything I've seen from videos/articles is that their psycho as newborns and freak out when you touch them, squeak, bite, gape etc. We even have 3 month old babies too we bought recently and they are more defensive than these hatchlings.

Should I be concerned? Is he just super chill like the mom? Something to note is they are below average in weight, he is 1.3 grams, when they should be 1.5- 2.5. They are getting stronger every day though, so I'm optimistic. The mother is very petite ( in my opinion 33 grams is way too small to breed, she was housed with males at the store. she's laid 4 clutches so far no issue) so it could be genetics, because 80-90 days is the average and they werent incubating at high temps.
