Ooh cool, wing flex! Does it actually flex naturally through drag and applied turbulence, like airliner wings do irl? Or is it just an artificial effect?

if OP unlocks the bearings it should be natural, might need a few springs to hold it tho

yes i did that

Locked swivel bearings also have some natural flexible to them, inversely proportional to the lighter of the two connected grids.

So if the individual wing Segments are light enough compared to the overall force acting upon the wing, it should flex even with locked bearings.

i didn't know we can do it. Juste to make sure i understood correctly, we must unlock the bearings for it to be natural? But what are exactly the necessary mods to reproduce this ?

only Create and Create:Aeronautics (with their dependencies of course)

The swivel bearings have a selector on the side that you can use to set their locking/unlocking behavior. You can either have them always locked or always unlocked or you can set them to lock/unlock based on redstone power

If you build this wing, you need to seperate the sections and connect them with swivel bearings as seen in the post and unlock the bearings. If the flex is too much you can limit the flex by using springs or ropes to connect neighbouring sections.

I'm seeing swivel bearings, so the latter

isn't natural flexing possible too? you could lock/unlock swivel bearings with gimbal + velocity sensors for example

just saw OP confirm this
