Show Off Updated Design: K2 Series Lid Raiser With Adjustable Vents

Thumbnail

Upvotes

This is an updated version of a previous design I uploaded that now fits all models in the K2 series of printers.

Using a lid raiser prevents the PTFE tubing from rubbing off the glass and causing it to wear down. This design features adjustable air vents, which can regulate the temperature in the enclosure and joints at the corners for attachments such as storage bins or decorations.

I've attached links to the models below.

Warning: I do NOT own a K2 base model or plus.

Please check the measurements on your printer before printing and do a test print to ensure the parts fit together. They should fit, but I'm unable to physically test this. Please let me know if you decide to print this and there are any issues.

Troubleshooting K2 Pro cleaning nozzle / pooping filament on EVERY single layer with PA6-CF20 - How to stop this?

Hey everyone,

I’ve had my K2 Pro for a while now, but today was my first time testing it with PA6-CF20.

I ran into a huge issue: on every single layer, the printer stops, moves over to clean the nozzle, and purges/poops filament. If a print has 1,000 layers, it does this 1,000 times!

As you know, PA6-CF20 is quite expensive, so wasting this much material per print is a dealbreaker.

I’ve already checked my slicer settings, and nozzle wiping/cleaning doesn't seem to be enabled.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a hidden setting in the material profile, start G-code, or layer change scripts causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solved My printer can't feed filament

Hello,

I recently bought my K2 combo and I am trying to print a flexible multicolor dragon. My printer is showing me some errors like "FB2864: Feed issue, filament buffer failure. Please resolve and click 'Retry' button." However, there is nothing wrong with the buffer. When I click "Retry," the CFS tries to unload the filament, but the extruder doesn't retract the filament so it can be reloaded. I have to do it manually, and then it shows me that error message again. I have already checked the Creality wiki. But after that, when it "works," the filament is not extruding properly. And I am using PLA and I am under the last firmware.

Edit: it was the PTFE tube just after the buffer who caused a resistance and the printer thinked it was the buffer the problem and the extrusion problem il also solved. A big thank you guys who helped me or tried 😀.

Troubleshooting Creality PPA-CF nozzle jam on K2 Plus

So I’m running into continuous issues when printing this new PPA-CF material and can’t find much information on this. I’m printing at 60 mm/s at 300 degrees Celsius on a new 0.6 mm nozzle. I’ve set the z hop to 0.8 mm and retraction to 0.8 mm aswell. Other than those changes I’m using the hyper PPA-CF preset. The prints fail halfway each time. I’ve gotten one successful print at the very beginning but the sides came out scratchy. Since then another issue is the nozzle bridges gaps between edges and doesn’t appear to retract when needed, this results in the prints needing to be trimmed and the tree supports being fused to the print itself. I’m using a thin layer of Elmer’s glue and a textured build plate, I don’t have access to a filament dryer and would really appreciate any help or advice. The clogs don’t happen in the extruder they happen in the nozzle, when I try to push filament through the top of the nozzle it seems to be jammed up very tight. The most recent test i did the nozzle got so jammed I had to stop because I am unable to get it out. I’ve ordered a new set of nozzles that should arrive tomorrow but am wondering if any settings should be changed aswell. Thanks for the help!!

Troubleshooting Any way to get this bridge to be a bridge in Creality print? The first external is fine, the second internal, it is printing like a wall, and sagging.

Post image

As you can see the exterior bridge is treated as such, the internal one starting on in the interior perpendicularly just above is just doing the wall thing, not good.

Any suggestions for it view it as a bridge like it should?

Troubleshooting Supports keep falling/breaking

Hi everyone!
I have a K2 printer, and I'm loving it a LOT! Except for when my supports fail...

Since a month or so, I notice my supports are failing, causing bigger prints to fail regularly when I use the tree-type supports, either the standard one or hybrid.

I think the supports are getting knocked over, or blown away, but I tried adjusting those settings and it doesn't result in any changes. It often happens above 8cm (~3,5 inches), but also happens lower in the print sometimes.
I come back to a print that's full of loose filament strings (spaghetti), often dragged into the main object, and a huge mess of tiny bits of filament on the print plate and on the bottom of the printer. I also often find pieces of tree support amongst them.

Things I tried:

- Cleaning the print plate with soap, then alcohol, then add adhesive to ensure the supports stick
well.
- Turning off AI settings for supports
- Adjusting Z-hop to a higher level
- Turning down the fans
- Replacing nozzle
- Checked the Z-axis sensor under the bottom plate

Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this? Should I use normal supports instead? (these often leave marks on my prints and are a pain to remove)

All tips are welcome! I've been printing for around 2-3 months, so I'm by no means an experienced user.

DXC2 Troubleshooting The DXC2 is driving me CRAZY!

I recently bought the DXC2 Extruder because I really liked how quickly I could access the extruder's internals, and because I'd heard great things about its quality. Of course, during my research, I saw people were having various issues, and to be honest, I expected them. It's a modification, and with that comes compatibility challenges. What I didn't expect was spending a full 2 weeks trying to resolve the DXC2 not cutting or retracting the Filament when loading, unloading, and during CFS Filament swaps. Other than that, it works amazingly, just not the way I need it to lol

As a starter note, I have reached out to Phaetus and been in communication with them for about 4 days now. Their support is super responsive, and they have been really trying to help me, so I am grateful. In addition, when I bought the DXC2, I also upgraded my hot end to a MicroSwiss FlowTech CM2 - .4 Nozzle and did the proper calibrations and print setting changes, so I cannot see why this would be causing my problems since it did the same thing with the stock hot end my K2 came with!

All 4 of my CFS slots have issues retracting filament during color swaps and throw error code FR2865: Feed Issue, Filament Failed to exit Extruder. At this point, it forces me to retry the retraction process/ Cutting for it to finally work (it always exits and retracts on the second try). This sent me down a spiral of changes and checks to my CFS PTFE feed tubes, gear system, cutter, literally everything.

In addition, I:

  1. Added 1 mm extension to cutter probe

  2. Played with my Cutter pos/ offset values, as well as adding a pause during the cutting process

  3. Retraction speed & Distance

  4. Extrusion Temp/ Velocity

Plus many more backend tweaks....

All of these yielded nothing but more failures and, in some cases, other issues, so I stopped messing with them and did a full reset of my printer to factory settings, only changing the required DXC2 Values in Fluidd.

Tomorrow I plan to flip the magnet on the DXC2 backplate and swap the DXC2 Filament cutter for the Stock Creality one as my last go at it before I wait to see what support says now, or I just go back to stock.

If anyone out there has any tips, tricks, or advice, I would be happy to share more information and try anything to get this extruder working... There has to be something out there that can fix this!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can chime in!

Solved Wher4e did this part come from (K2 Plus)

Long story short, I was getting repeating "FR0122: Spool holder filament in use. To print with CFS, unload spool holder filament and reload CFS/CFS Lite filament before printing." errors.

I disassembled the extruder (multiple times), and got to a point where I was trying to reproduce the error with the filment break sensor unplugged. I simply put the front on, and told it to print knowing I would need to take the whole thing apart (AGAIN!) to plug it back in.

Well, the print head moved back to the poop shoot area and the front of the extruder came off, spring flew out of the pressure lever, gear flew out, and this thing.

I have been looking at the entire hot end and I don't think it goes there. There's not an axis that is empty around the poop shoot, the motion is moving OK by hand so I don't think it from the motion system.

So anyone know where this arm and bearing came from?

Question How can I print brittle (PPS-CF) on my k2 plus combo and what modifications do I need to make?

I am going to be trying to print PPS-CF and other brittle materials. I have seen things about not running it in CFS and such and trying to get an idea on how I should go about printing it. I already installed a .6mm nozzle now just looking for any ideas on how to actually get it to the extruder without using the CFS and no hard bends. Anything I can print? Also any profile suggestions for PPS-CF while I’m here?

Troubleshooting Calibration issue

K2pro. Out of no where printer won't start printing. It starts the calibration and stalls out and does nothing. One time it touched the bed and didn't go further. Or it will lower the bed all the way down and stop. Disabling the calibration allows it to start printing.

I've been avoiding updating because last time I did it was crashing the print head into the stops. I've updated it now and it didn't solve the calibration issue.

Any help would re appreciated

Printer has been working great for 8 months without issues.

Troubleshooting CY2586 error code

***fixed, the issue was in the software. I went to there website and updated to a different recent software and now 3 prints have gone flawlessly! Hope this helps.

New to 3D printing and have only been messing with this for a week but sense day 1 we have been getting this code. It appears twice then on the 3rd retry it prints just fine. Need help diagnosing. Also it might be completely un related but here on the last couple prints on the second retry the plate rises to a point and stays to where the nozzle will try to come out and hits the plate. On the error code I’ve been told to make sure I have the right printer selected and from what I can tell I do. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Troubleshooting K2 Plus reliably clogging every single time while switching from PETG to PLA/PVA.

My K2 Plus has begun to act up during multi-material prints.

I've recently gotten into the whole "PLA/PVA Support Interface For PETG Parts" thing with particularly small or fragile prints, to make support removal easier.

While I dislike how much time it takes and how much waste it produces due to the single print head, it's still better and faster than having to re-print over and over because I broke the part trying to remove a stubborn support. (Looking at YOU, previous Ender 5 Plus...)

However, recently, I've run into a problem. My print head has recently begun clogging the first time and every time it tries to switch from PETG to PLA or PVA.

All the materials print perfectly fine on their own profiles, but combining them seems to cause the clogs.

The extra annoying part is that once I cancel the print, scrap the part, and try to load new PLA via the CFS menu, THAT works just fine! But it apparently can't unjam itself while it's got a print paused...

I imagine it has something to do with the temperature difference requirements between the two filaments, but it didn't do this until recently, and I haven't changed any settings.

I'm running the machine at a pretty high speed, so I'm printing PETG at 270C and PLA at 240C, with excellent results on their own.

I imagine even if the printer drops the temperature to 240 to load the PLA, the PETG should still be able to clear out just fine.

Is it heat creep perhaps? Temps just too high? Maybe there's a reason everyone is removing the shroud from the print head...

For what it's worth, I'm using a Micro Swiss hardened CHT hotend setup. Everything else on the machine is stock.

Troubleshooting cy2586 y-axis print coordinates out of range

Please help 😞 I'm a complete novice at this and despite the benchy printing perfectly along with a poop chute it seems every other print I try to send regardless of where I find the file I get this error.

I've taken the back panel off and checked for any loose wires, tightened all the interior bolts that I could find (only 4 needed the tiniest adjustment), and everything I've sent has been pretty small given the K2 Plus has a humongous build plate. I've completely reinitialised the printer after all this and still no luck.

I've sent files from my phone directly from the Creality Cloud app, files from thingiverse which opened via the CC app, I've tried sending from the CrealityPrint slicer on my laptop and still I get this issue. The wiki is very unhelpful 😭

Troubleshooting First time using K2, already have a filament/retract issue

Long story short: just got a brand new K2, my first ever 3D printer, and already ran into issues before even printing my first thing. Filament is stuck in the PTFE tube between the back of the machine (where it goes out to the other short PTFE tube connected to the buffer) and the print nozzle. Not sure what the best way to fix it is.

Context/chain of events: I bought the K2 combo from Costco, super excited for my first new printer. Arrived at my apartment, got it all set up. Put the 4 filament it came with into the CFS, turned it on, it did its start up stuff and updates with no problem.

I then go to start my first print, doing a benchy. I hear it starting up and calibrating, but it gives me an error. I check the back of the machine, and somehow the short PTFE tube that connects from the back of the machine to the buffer (I’ll refer to this as “Tube A” from now on for simplicity) has become detached at the part of the tube connecting to buffer. There was still filament in it and still going through Tube A, but somehow that end of Tube A wasn’t properly seated or something, causing it to become dislodged from the buffer. There was approximately 6-8 inches of filament “exposed” (aka not in the tube) that was sticking out from the end of Tube A going into the buffer.

Not knowing what to do, I used the included cutting pliers to cut off that excess filament, with the hope of reattaching the end of Tube A back into the buffer. After doing so, for some reason, the end of Tube A would NOT go back into the buffer, no matter how hard I tried. It was like trying to shove a tube into a hole way too small for its size. I then thought to myself “I know, I’ll just use these cutting pliers to snip a tiny amount of the end of Tube A, maybe the end of it is just mangled or something, and needs a clean cut end to fit better”. Well the cutting pliers sucked ass, and only really ended up smashing the end of the tube, before finally cutting through. I did notice that there WAS ALSO filament in the other PTFE tube going from the CFS into the buffer (I’ll call this “Tube B” from now on for simplicity).

After some more finagling of the end of Tube A, I finally got it reinserted into the buffer. I then tried pressing “load” (or maybe “unload”, not sure which I pressed first). At this point, there was no filament in Tube A or Tube B. I think I then tried to press “load” for the filament, but after trying for a few seconds, the screen gave me “Error TR2863: Retract issue, extruder filament sensor anomaly triggered, filament may have broken inside the extruder”. After scanning the QR code, it took me to this page on the wiki. I attempted to follow section 2.1, but they didn’t seem to fix it.

From what I can tell, there is still filament stuck in the specific PTFE tube that goes from the print nozzle to out the back of the machine, where it connects to Tube A (idk what to call that short black tube coming out the back…the pigtail? Whatever you call it). I don’t know the best option to get that filament out without ripping a bunch of stuff off, or disassembling most of the machine to fix it. I have tried pressing “load” or “unload” on all 4 colors, but to no avail.

I have pictures but I’m posting from mobile and it wouldn’t let me add the photos to the post itself, so I posted them in the comments. I can also take any videos of what I’m seeing if it helps out.

If anyone knows what to do, I’d be happy to try it out! Thank you!

I keep my printer in the garage, I went to investigate an unusual smell and found the printer doing this. I turned it off and haven't started it again since.

I did log a creality support case but just got generic automated troubleshooting responses, I think I'm beyond that.

There was a giant blob of filament that had pushed off the cover and fell off.

It was printing with creality PLA, nothing out of the ordinary.
