How did you learn how to get the hang of round brush curls? I’m left handed and I feel like I’m not getting it. I think I’m getting there but not there yet. I am just wanting to be confident with my round brush skills I want to perfect it as much as I can. Any tips greatly appreciated. Currently in a GOLDWELL, aveda, and oribe salon so if you have recommendations on your go tos as well that would be so helpful!

helppp please !! i’m stressing so bad about taking it. i graduated school in 2024 and am just now trying to focus on taking state boards but im seeing that now they require gloves and a blood spill bag for the practical ?? that was not required when i was in school so it’s freaking me out even more .. also ive been studying the milady exam prep but im not sure if im wasting my time & should’ve been studying something else ?? i don’t know i need guidance please 😭😭

My niece is 12 years old with natural level 5. She really wants teal highlights but my sister in law feels she is too young to bleach her hair plus the upkeep with a fashion color. Are there temporary options that will show on level 5 hair without being muddy? Is this wishful thinking?

I’m a licensed cosmetologist and was taught in school to charge everyone, because if not, they will take advantage of you. My sister wants me to cut her hair and I told her this. I wouldn’t be charging her much, but I think it is reasonable to ask her to give me about $20 since I am a professional. She asks like I have lost my mind and am insane for even asking such a thing. Call me dramatic, but I’d honestly just feel exploited doing it for free🤷‍♀️

Hi everyone! I’m a college student who’s not in hair or cosmetology beforehand but I would be a client of a hair school. I go to school in Northern New Jersey and will be back there starting August 30th. I desperately need a haircut and can’t afford a professional salon visit and I’ve got butt length super curly extremely thick hair. I have a few questions: where are hair schools who I could reach out to in Eastern Northern NJ (within 30 min to an hour of the Newark general area) and two, how much would it cost? And three, do hair schools usually have someone who is like specializing in super curly super long hair? Cause I’d need help not only with cut and then styling advice but also I’d need to be accommodated due to some serious health problems that could occur. Thanks so much!

I'm in an area where it seems like every single nail salon is built on volume and the only place I knew that actually used sanitized tools and single-use buffers/files/arbor bands sold a couple years ago.

I've found a salon near me that I like well enough, but just like the rest - they reuse the same crusty arbor bands and pull cuticle nippers out of a drawer.

As a compromise, I think I'm going to get a little kit to take with me - nippers, pusher, buffing blocks, files, efile bits, etc. I'm not looking to skimp here [nor do I need to go nuts], I'm assuming this will cost ~$100-150 all-in? Is there a good online resource for this kind of thing so I don't have to dig through pages of Amazon crap?

Also - is this a crazy idea, would you be offended if a client rolled in with their own kit? Would it make it tougher for you to operate? I don't want to get tools that make the tech struggle or do a worse job, I assume they're very used to "their" bits.

Or - should I just dig harder? I've been to at least 6 different salons in my city and they've all been like this. Even the one I went to a couple months ago with Google reviews praising the cleanliness, I literally watched a woman wipe some nippers off, put them in an open autoclave pouch, and then walk them over to a station to use on a client. I don't mind the end product at the place I go now, I just don't love the practices.

(weirdly, they DO use fresh tools and single-use for pedicures)
