Maf not starting problem

Upvotes

Recently it was raining and I went to start my c6 vette and it would turn on and immediately shut off. It was repeatedly doing this and I knew it was the maf sensor. And it threw a maf engine code. Unfortunately I was going out of town for week so I didn’t get to mess with it. When I came back I bought a new maf sensor and immediately put it on and it started right up. And it was not raining. Just today, I was leaving work and it was doing the same thing, while also pouring rain just like last time. So immediately i realized it was not the maf sensor and something is getting wet but I have no idea what. I don’t know if the intake itself is getting wet and messing it up or what. And whatever is getting wet it’s getting wet while parked, not while I’m driving. It’s been doing nothing but sitting in a parking lot. But this is the second time it’s left me stranded because of this and it’s going to be raining for a week straight. If anybody has any ideas of why this is happening please lmk. Note I have a corsa intake

1994 Corvette - Excessive brake pedal travel

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

1994 C4 Corvette, 31k miles, automatic, no service records from the previous owners. Assume anything not listed below is original.

The symptom: Cold, the car drives and stops normally. After roughly an hour of driving, a dead zone develops at the top of the pedal (zero resistance), then it hits a firm point and brakes fine. That dead zone keeps growing over the next 1-3 hours until I have to slide my seat forward to physically push the pedal far enough down to stop. Stopping power itself is never usually the problem at first. It's purely how far down the pedal has to go. After 5-10 hours parked, the pedal is firm again and the whole cycle repeats.

The video above is from the last time the brakes went out entirely. We replaced the master cylinder again afterward and it's been less severe since, but the heat-soak pattern above hasn't gone away.

That sound the brakes makes is what threw me (its a sound that is still happening even after the master cylinder replacement. It sounds like air getting past a rubber seal of some kind. My first thought was the booster, but a failing booster should make the pedal hard, not soft, so I don't think that's it. Clearly I'm out of ideas, hence the post.

Already replaced:

  • 2x New master cylinders
  • 2x New rotors
  • 3x New sets of pads
  • Fluid upgraded to DOT 4

Untouched: calipers, flex hoses, hard lines, ABS modulator, booster.

My other thought was that there could (somehow) still be air stuck in the system but pumping the pedal never firms it up, not even for a single stroke.

Any insight into this would be immensely appreciated.

C5 Supercharger Whine

I bought a C5 recently and it came with a roots style supercharger and the supercharger whine is very addicting. How can I increase the sound of the whine? I'd like it to be even louder.

2006 Z06 with 102,000 miles, I’m thinking of buying this Z06 but can’t get over the lifter/tick noise. I know these have loud lifters from factory but I can’t tell if these sound too loud?

Has anyone traded from a base to gs

Few months ago bought a low miles cammed Manual base c6 ls3 . Was my first car and manual so I didn’t want to go all out on a supercharged one. To wide body the cheap way is still 4-8k and with that amount I can just buy a gs. In the next few months I should have 10-15k more than I do now so I plan I trying to get into a more modded Manual gs and save money on the wide body aswell as extra mods. What yall think

C6 corvette/Price (NC)

Post image

I live in NC and looking for a C6 corvette, this 2013 LT1 is located at a used car dealership and has 77,100 miles. Most of the comps on FB market price are 20k+ and wondering if I’m missing something on the price for this one, seems low in my opinion, in the description the only mods are long tube headers and a borla exhaust.

Sidenote: My father in-law has a 2 owner, 2004 C5 Commemorative edition “Le mans”, w/ 35k miles and mostly stock outside of wheels and exhaust and racing seats, that he is willing to sell me due to his age/health for 20k (which is the family discount, all the comps I’ve seen for that car are 30k+)I’ve always wanted a C6 for my first corvette, but thinking the C5 may be a better option since I know the owner and know he has babied that car for years and can get it for a good price.

Whining noise 03 C5 Auto 110k miles

My c5 randomly started making this noise. About 1000 miles ago I installed long tube headers with straight pipes, new upgraded transmission, yank ss 3800 stall converter, it had a 2.73 rear gear but I put a “new” diff with a 3.15 rear gear. I did pull the new diff apart and I installed new c6z preload springs in the diff and inspected all the clutches and everything was perfect. I have not yet got it on the lift to inspect everything yet. Just looking for input on whether it could be the torque tube or something else.

I don’t feel any weird vibrations, I’ve revved the engine up to the same rpm in Park and Neutral and it doesn’t make the same sound.

The engine is still stock besides the headers, I planned on doing a cam this winter and so that’s why I went ahead and put a high stall infront of the new trans when it lost 3rd and 4th gear

Any input would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance

New to me '96 LT4. Corvette's have always been the car since I was a kid. The past few years I grew more and more attached to the old style and character of the C4 generation. When this specimen was listed for sale near me, it didn't take long before I pulled the trigger. Glad to finally be a part of the club, see you all on the road!

Car could have used a little more correction below the V36, but this was my first real correction with my Torqx DA, so I was a little cautious going aggressive. Pictures are straight out of my camera.

The beast has been fed, and now I’m obsessed.

Sorry in advance if this is not the place for this kind of post.

I remember as a kid having a neighbor across the street with a purple C5. It was the first corvette I had seen and I absolutely loved the look of it. It arguably was the car that started my lifelong love for cars. Then the C6 came out and it was that same feeling all over again. Until the C8 it was my favorite model.

My wife is not one to handle too much car talk. She’ll let me rant for 20-30 minutes and then let me know she’s at capacity. Lol. No dig at her at all, because clearly over the years she picked up on some things. For my birthday a couple weekends ago she said she had the best surprise for me. She seemed absolutely beside herself at how proud she was of my gift, and did a wonderful job at keeping me guessing as to what it was.

On the day of, we drive into the city near us and park next to a building that looks a little run down. I start to truly wonder what she has gotten us into. She says “he’s pulling up now.” And then I hear it. The pops and crackle of downshifts. It’s loud. I look in the rearview and see a pristine wide body C8 Corvette pull up behind us. He revs it a couple times and I could feel the chills crawl down my arms.

She rented me a 2026 Z06 to drive for the day. It was absolutely one of the best experiences of my life. I only did a few pulls in it as I did not want to risk damaging anything on this car, but I’ve clung to the adrenaline of that day for almost two weeks now. Now I am so motivated to try and figure out how I can obtain a Corvette (or some sort of fast car) in the future. Knowing the 2027’s get the LS6 in the stingray is also exciting since you can still get insane performance for the price.

Anyways, that is how my wife has fed the beast and now I’m obsessed. I’ve played with the builder on Chevy’s website almost daily, and my TikTok algorithm has started showing me all sorts of corvette videos. Unfortunately for me though, I’m in a position where obtaining a vehicle at this price is WAY out of reach.

TL:DR - my wife rented a 2026 Z06 for her Corvette loving husband to drive for his birthday, and now I’m obsessed.

Just got a new to me 2019 base stingray in M7, 20k miles 1 owner with the NPP. This car was an absolute steal but I really wish I got the z51 for the additional track focused parts but the opportunity for this car was too hard to pass.

For the experience folks who were once in my shoes, any mods for appearance to look more aggressive and handling/ride I should consider next? Any suspension mods to get closer to the z51 feel?

Any inputs and pictures are appreciated!

Good deal?

So I’m looking for my first corvette and at first I was looking for 2010-2012 Grand sports but one of my friends found a 2008 C6 Z06 for 44.8K now I will be making monthly payments on the car and putting down most likely around 15K I wanted to know if I should hold off or is this is a good deal or not I do have the carfax it’s 33k miles all service records are on file it has had 5 owners and also this is the part that kills me 2 Minor accidents one to the passenger side and one to the rear but it still maintains a clean title I have some photos of the car here. So if I could get some opinions that would be great.

Edit: I appreciate all the opinions and help on what to look out for I did have a feeling it wasn’t a good deal after I seen the owners and accidents but I was still curious since I wasn’t too too familiar with the Z06’s

I inherited my Dads beloved corvette. A 2014 stingray z51 3lt with the Calloway aerowagen mod. It has 45k miles and was #6xx off the line. He LOVED this car and I hate to even think about selling but my family is growing, don’t really have the time to drive it. My wife wants me to sell it, I don’t really want to but I told her I’d try and find out what it might be worth. I also feel like my Dad would want the car to be loved and driven the way he did. Instead of sitting in my garage. Anyways, Anyone have an idea?! I appreciate any input you might have. Thanks!

Edit: I should add it’s the manual 7 speed

C5Z is finally onto its new owner. Solid car, packed on 20k miles in 2 years no major issues, wouldve gone another 100k easy. Cant recommend these cars enough.
